    You don't need that last tornister strap, and your Kochgeschirr handle and bread bag strap are upside down. The Kochgeschirr handle should be tucked down, with the straps hooked to it. The middle of the bread bag strap goes through the tab of the upper tornister strap, thus forming the pack straps. It should be adjusted tight enough that it doesn't move at all once on your back, but you'll need put it on like a Tornister, with a friend to hook one strap end onto the Kochgeschirr handle for you.

    Quick question, are all of those straps mess tin straps? Or greatcoat straps? Also,unrelated to the pack, but I noticed your boots were just bare leather. Were the jackboots worn with the early war uniform dyed brown? Or were they left in the bare leather like yours?

    • @individuum4494
      @individuum4494 2 года назад

      At the beginning they were just left as bare leather. In autumn 1915 the prussian war department ordered all leather parts to be painted black.

    Great video. I will do this for Halloween and airsoft! Anyway, not trying to be a jerk, but the uniform in the thumbnail is actually unhistorically accurate because that tunic is a 1914 through somewhat 1915. The style you want is for 1916-1918 which they switched out the tunic.

    • @ryancook6452
      @ryancook6452 4 года назад

      You should never definitively say this did not happen.
      You might not have seen it, but I have seen photos of Germans in 1945 wearing m35 and even m17 stahlhelms.
      Although it's very rare to see, weird anomalies like that do happen but are not representative of the large amount of the force.
      The best example of this I can think of is German manuals say don't strap your gas cape to the gas mask cannister. But almost every image of soldiers you'll see have it strapped to the cannister.

    • @americohagim1131
      @americohagim1131 4 года назад

      Ryan cook, I get my data from the games Verdun and Tannenberg. Also from pictures form some books.

    • @thepicklegambit6226
      @thepicklegambit6226 4 года назад

      M1907/10 tunics were worn throughout the war. M1915s were just introduced, but never replaced. Many soldiers still wore their old one and there were still probably older stocks.

    • @weirdstuff886
      @weirdstuff886 4 года назад

      Wait what tunic was used in 1917
      Was it the m1915 tunic and if not tell me because I'm trying to make my costume as accurate as possible

    • @americohagim1131
      @americohagim1131 4 года назад +1

      SUCKERTASH, the m1915 was exposed to be the standard tunic. So if you’re trying to make some film or costume about that time the most accurate will be the M1915. Major difference are the covered buttons.
