Good morning from Southern California! I am also a retired teacher and enjoy traveling and living abroad. I have always enjoyed doing the daily life things like grocery shopping when I travel. It is so interesting to see the different products and customs. Your adventures living in France are so enjoyable to watch.
@@JaniceInFrance Finally!! An interesting, come along video to the market. I really enjoyed this video. It was nice to see the inside and outdoor market, what you bought and the price of things. I also really like the introduction at the beginning of your videos. ❤️
Good morning from sunny Ireland! A great place to find pre loved budget friendly clothes in France is your local Emmaus. They have everything, from furniture to books to clothes, shoes etc etc. Eco conscious and thrifty. Gros bisous, Leiza xxxx
Always great to see you live your best live in France! About the supermarkets in France, I read that some Carrefours have a BlaBla Caisse (chat & register) where it's ok to talk with the cashier for a long time. If they have one at yours in Fointainebleau, it's a good place to talk a bit with a local to practice your French. Enjoy your dream life!
I too have a grocery trolley I pull. Same style as yours. It's saved my back. I always have it either full of library books or shopping from the grocery market. Plus if go to beach I can pack things and a picnic. Plus I take the bus so fits right at my seat easy.
Bonjour Janice. I'm a southern girl living in California, dreaming about France. I work on my French all the time in case I ever get the nerve to jump over the pond. You are an inspiration. We have to take bags to the store here too. My dream is to buy a big old house out in the countryside. I'm not much of a city girl. Keep up the great work. I love your videos!
Janice I just want to congratulate you on the growth and development of your channel. You are just living your life and allowing us to experience France vicariously through you but I thought I would salute you and your channel too.
Bonjour Janice! Thank you so much for showing a little bit of French life and habits. Loved to see the trees behind you, make me remember my birth village in this time of the year. Au revoir! Have a wonderful weeK!!!! 💙💛
Really enjoyed your shopping trip, Nice that you found a route so that you can walk back and forth, I don’t live close to shopping at all, I would love to walk there I could use the excercise lol. Even the grocery stores there look interesting to shop at. Take care and I look forward to your next video, Sheila

That was fun for us and quite a lot of carrying for you, but thanks enjoyed seeing the different stops and a chuckle on the Old El Paso products at the grocery, cheers from Tennessee!

Bonjour Janice! I’m enjoying your videos so much - I think this is the 7th I’ve viewed so far. May I offer a suggestion? It is difficult viewing your video of products because the camera needs to be held more steady (meaning not changing direction so quickly) and also needs to pan more slowly. It was a bit dizzying, especially when there’s so much curiosity about the products and packaging and names. Respectful suggestion for future videos. 😁 Keep your day-to-day life videos coming! I’d love to see how you manage transportation, like UBER, train, bus, (along with paying for them; Navigo card?) etc. Also museums - (passes, entrance lines - mundane stuff like that is always interesting! Truly!) You are inspiring!!

Hi Janice, I just found your channel recently. I love your "down-to-earthiness". I've planned trips to France three times and have yet to set foot in France! I am hoping I will get there in the next couple of years. I am not into all the touristy things and really am enjoying the daily life that you are sharing. More, please!!
Thank you, but I used the hop on hop off bus yesterday and I saw as like a kid in the candy store! I know they are tourist but they are also familiar! I hope you make it France!
I’ve always avoided the hop on & off bus, but when I was in Bordeaux I used it as I was tired & foot sore. It was a great way to get my bearings in a new city. Also if you want to improve your french listen to the commentary in french ( tip-the children’s version is great as it’s simpler & doesn’t get weighed down in too many details).😊
Ohhhh welcome to France. Have you visited any of the outdoor markets in your village. One of my regrets while living in Paris was not visiting the market day in FB. I always felt I get a better deal with veggies sold at outdoor markets, one thing I love about France where I visit every Monday.
Yes I’ve been to them in fact several of my videos show me at the market. I never saw that I really got a better value there than I did at the groceries because it’s just one person
Thanks for taking us along, Janice! What camera are you using to film the video? Loved the quality of the footage you shot! Hope you have a great weekend!
You look great today! Love to see the little pieces of life in France. The €3,99 tomatoes isn’t 7 dollars, but just under 5 dollars. Just to put your mind at ease 😉
Fun, fun fun, enjoyed coming along with you : -) If you like peanut butter and have a blender or food processor where you are, it is so much cheaper to make your own! I love peanut butter, but it is (to my mind) too expensive in France. I simply buy a bag of peanuts, whizz in a food processor or blender. Add a bit of oil to get the texture you like. And voila! You have peanut butter :-) PS. When clueless about wine whilst in France, a great tip is to look for 'mis en bouteille...' on the label. This is where is it made. Look for a 'mis en bouteille à la propriété' or 'mis en bouteille au château'. This means that it was made by a small business, rather than a conglomerate. And it is usually better than any others since they put their heart and soul into what you are buying. (Note- I have had the same issue of not knowing what to buy. My partner, who is a winemaker gave me this tip and it has never let me down.)
I would love to stay with you when I come to France! I have the best time watching your videos 🤗. I would be in heaven with Old El Paso taco kits ands products 🥰😍
And merci beaucoup to you:-) I just found your channel and instagram and am very interested in all the details of your move to France since I am hoping to move/retire to Spain where I lived in my 20s and again in my early 30s. And I want to take my little dog with me. Have you done an apartment tour yet? I'd love to see the whole apartment. What a lovely walk through your city to the markets.
If you will go back and look at the very beginning videos it talks all about my move and when I had to do etc. etc.. I even have one dedicated to my animals
You will surely freak out at our cost of living down here in South Africa! 🙂 Our currency is in the toilet, so to speak, and almost worthless when exchanged for dollars, pounds or euros! My weeks food cost has now forced me to eat one small meal per day only, so everything I eat has to be nutritionally sound. Having said this, I am grateful for what I can have, and our beautiful gardens that are safe to walk in every day. I have a place to stay, and never go to bed hungry - I see myself as blessed!
Bonjour Janice love your vlogdo you have a INTERMARCHE near your house'...the prices are better than Carfour...i been living in France for 25YEARS and i do my shopping there and also Picard ...for Organic i go to Satoris or bio shops.....enjoy the wether..bisou
No they don’t unfortunately. By my produce at an Organic Place here in FB. Speaking of organic farms I’m going to be going out in interviewing one in April I can’t wait
Buy a portable air conditioner now if you haven't already. Barring that, at least a couple fans. Don't wait until it gets hot because you won't find one. Climatisation is a rare find in IDF.
I have been following you for a little while. Thank you for the vlogs. I have a question--have you considered taking an immersion course in French? If not, why not? I have spent a great deal of time in France & I speak almost fluently. I imagine your experience would be more enjoyable & certainly easier if you could speak 7 understand at an intermediate level or better. I also imagine an immersion course in French culture would make a big difference. You will of course pick things up bit by bit, but why not enhance this whole experience now? FYI some customs are a bit different from 1 region to another. In any case felicitations on your move & bonne chance with your adventure.

Yes you are but it certainly bothers me that you only get to eat one meal a day
Bonjour Janice love your vlogdo you have a INTERMARCHE near your house'...the prices are better than Carfour...i been living in France for 25YEARS and i do my shopping there and also Picard ...for Organic i go to Satoris or bio shops.....enjoy the wether..bisou
No they don’t unfortunately. By my produce at an Organic Place here in FB. Speaking of organic farms I’m going to be going out in interviewing one in April I can’t wait
I went to Picard’s though

If this is France, where is the French music to go along with your video?💃💕🍷💃🌹
Listen to the beginning
Buy a portable air conditioner now if you haven't already. Barring that, at least a couple fans. Don't wait until it gets hot because you won't find one. Climatisation is a rare find in IDF.
Good idea Tracy
I have been following you for a little while. Thank you for the vlogs. I have a question--have you considered taking an immersion course in French? If not, why not? I have spent a great deal of time in France & I speak almost fluently. I imagine your experience would be more enjoyable & certainly easier if you could speak 7 understand at an intermediate level or better. I also imagine an immersion course in French culture would make a big difference. You will of course pick things up bit by bit, but why not enhance this whole experience now? FYI some customs are a bit different from 1 region to another. In any case felicitations on your move & bonne chance with your adventure.
I have two animals in a limited budget that’s probably why I have not done it
