This is like the 3rd video I've seen about theft at a convention (I think one of the other ones happened at Otakon too). That's so weird. I hope the experience was great aside from that!
There were several people talking about it this year. One artist FOUND a staff member/volunteer (I'm not sure which) rummaging in their booth. I am sure that got reported. Yes, everything else was great.
Hi!! I was Otakon and I was so happy to meet you!! I told you I was gonna come back on Sunday but I ended not coming because I ended up getting sick!! I was so upset because I was looking forward to coming back and getting something but next time you come to a con to the DMV I will definitely come and see you. I wasn’t able to come to Fairfax comic con either. But again I’m glad to meet you, Andy and Bubs. I hope to see you in the DMV soon again maybe to Katsucon?! 😊👀

Welcome. Yes, I use the Shopify POS Go. It links with my store to keep my inventory all together, and it acts as a barcode scanner as well as a card reader. I love it. It goes in and out of stock and can be hard to find, but here is a link to the terminal. amzn.to/3A0xjOH

I'm glad it went well! I was so sad I didn't get into Otakon this year, I just pray for the lottery to favor me next year. I always stay in Alexandria instead of DC because I'm cheap, but valet only parking is 100% normal in downtown big city hotels. While walking to the con is nice, I'll just take the subway from my cheaper hotel with free parking instead. 😅
An idea for you to drive traffic to your online shop. When you sell out of an item on your peg walls ie. the pins, have a sold out sticker of that item inside the last pouch or on the board itself. They can see what it was they missed out on but can order online. I hope that makes sense 😁 I love how organized you are always. In another lifetime I used to sell at markets and really miss it which is why I watch your channel.
You know, I have been meaning to do that with my Sticker Sheets, and I didn't even think to do that for the pins too... you're a genius! Thanks for the suggestion that was just staring me in the face but I couldn't see lol. Thanks so much!
side note to your receipt from the food place, some convention centers force any food vendors to pay a percent of their food sales to the center. Our local convention does this and forces them to use a pcos system that they issue out to track their sales. that's why they don't allow cash. Its so messed up but that might be why they charged all those extra fees to try to make up for it. Not saying its the case for that center but just food for thought. Regardless i get you i hate tip culture too.
I get them wanting a little compensation. Event spaces are always gonna make their money, regardless. I think they should let ANY vendor, food or otherwise set up for a fixed price though. Then vendors can plan their pricing accordingly. Vendor food costs are CRAZY before the forced gratuity.. I get so frustrated with the cost of food at these events.
