I say replace the floor put a 5 or 6 speed in it for better burnouts and maybe a carb style fuel injection and drive it
Those Lokar dipsticks are terrible for checking oil level. Depending on how it's routed, changes the length of the dipstick into the trans. Get an OEM style.
make onx offroad available in canada!
I did and already love it! Better than "free" Google Earth considering you see ownership!
Another bright idea to do with the car. Don't do anything to it. Give it to Cody as he seems to be your top body man and gets stuff done while you and hillbilly make videos and travel everywhere. The stuff you do for Hillbilly is cool and all, but Cody is just as deserving.
57 is such a great classic I’d say completely restore it!! It’s a part of American car history. It deserves to be preserved. The body and interior but leave the motor you put in!
Agreed 💯💯%
So you want him to rip out everything he put it in Ohio
Go back to Ohio and get the motor front suspension rear end then completely restore the car to its former glory
That doesn't really make a lot of sense like he already said the car is too rotten and too far gone to do a nut and bolt restoration
Definitely! But restomod!
I definitely agree with you
@@carlBigSpoonjohnson Agreed
A full restoration please. She's been through a lot and deserves some love. The last thing I want to see is this beauty turned into a derby car, jacked up, or tacky stickers placed all over her. Maybe a nice black pearl paint job with gold or silver trim. She's a piece a history that needs to be preserved and cared for.
I think that '57 deserves to be restored. It waited patiently for years for you to come get it. Reward that with a full restore to it's original glory.
This car deserves your magic.
Do a full restoration on the '57! Bring it to it's full potential and glory! It's such an iconic car I can't wait!
Robby are you gonna paint it
That's not worth the restoration. That's a beat down parts car
Believe me when I say that there is a right and wrong way to use an adjustable wrench. If he would’ve flipped it over, it wouldn’t have slipped. You guys are great! I love watching your content
glad I wasn't the only one to notice.
Yep, and turn the drawbar sideways in the receiver, ball facing right. Then you can use your body weight to tighten the nut. And put some red thread locker on the ball stud so the nut can't even contemplate coming loose.
Looking at the “ 57 “ knowing the journey it’s been on for 65 years I think it’s in the perfect place to come back to life. It deserves the care and restoration that your shop could give her. I know you’d make it right and bring it back to its iconic glory. She’s just begging to have the attention of a top professional as you. It would be tugging on the heartstrings of all the viewers lucky enough to grow up with that car as they see you do your magic.
The 57 Chevy absolutely Needs and Wants it's Body to be Restored to like new with an original paint color. When I was a kid, my dad owned one and it was a beautiful copper/gold color!
The easiest way to eat sunflower seeds is to buy the shelled ones. Then one at a time or by the handful.
I vote to restore the car. Whatever you do to it, I think the silver/black paint scheme should be retained. I would definitely follow a restoration series on this. It would actually help me prepare for the restoration of my wagon and 4 door sedan. I learned quite a bit on body work techniques from the golden nugget series. I liked how you took time to explain what you're doing and why as you went.
I’d love to see a full restoration. You’ve already got the running gears sorted out so now do the rest! Can’t wait to watch!
Do a full restoration on the '57! Those old cars have gotten so few and far between it really deserves it.
Ham radio and hot rods together. Be still my heart. Am a ham radio operator here in wv and love old vehicles also.
I know it would be a lot of work, but I would love to see a restoration.
It's a labor of love...
Also paint it in Robby Layton colors, blue, gray, and black. Like Robby's shirt.
@@sergiosolis4538, I like that idea.
She deserves a full restoration, making the 57 look like she came off the showroom floor! These old classics deserve to look beautiful once again! You're just the man to do it! Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next... P.S. Thanks for taking us along. 😊
A complete restoration would be awesome. I love the 57 Chevy and having it restored and painted in your black, blue, and silver color theme would look amazing.
Those shots of that car at speed, especially in the tunnel, just made my mouth water. This car will be so glorious when restored!
I would love to see a full restoration!!😁
Make that 56 look like it just was pulled out of the showroom floor! A true retro! Eddie
The 57 definitely deserves to be restored with new sheet metal, definitely a restomod, it is one of the most iconic classics which I guess I would say that with every classic muscle car
Full restoration, one of the best classic car out there
Complete restore would be fun to watch.
I think 57' deserves restoration. It's so beautiful car I'd like to see it in new paint
With the skill set and equipment you possess, absolutely complete rebuild ! Make it Robbie Layton nice and give it to the boss !
Fix up the interior enough to be usable. Fix the exterior floppy panels. Scrape off the loose rust and cover the entire outside with Penetrol (basically mineral spirits and linseed oil). Old school way of stopping rust and making old iron look good.
Total frame off restoration that would be awesome that seems to be a very fine car I know it would be a lot of work but what would make a lot of awesome video content ❤ thanks for the awesome video Robbie God bless you for taking care hillbilly and his teeth🤠👍👏👏👏
Yeah I agree with the other comments for a full restoration. That would be awesome!!!
Complete restoration would be awesome! Great video!
Complete restore would be awesome.
The '55 wagon has been my favorite Chevy since my folks had one. But this '57 is changing my mind. I'd love to see it fully restored.
Everything You did to the running gear, keep it, restore the outside back to the original paint, but you guys will do and make it even better than it came from the factory.👍🇺🇸
I'd love to see you guys fully restore the 57. But at very least do the harder things like the floors
I would like to see you guy's restore this car. I would like to see you do the body repair work, patches, welding, straightening, rust repair. Your painting and body work skills got me interested in watching. I can always learn something new. I remember leading cars back in the day. Show me the new tricks, and make this a new car again. Thanks for all you do
Great series of videos. Would love to see this car fully restored
Yeah, that 57 Chevy looks good the way it is it’s a survivor. But Robbie, you do bodywork and you’re a painter. This is your canvas make her proud bring her back she deserves it.!
It deserves a full restoration on the 57 it would be an epic series to show us what Robby can do with detailed panel work restoration and painting.
I would love to see you rebuild it to its former glory with your special tweaks.
Full restoration would be good. Would also like for you to complete the projects already started. Harley, Rokon etc.
It needs a full restoration 🎉🎉🎉
Robby is like a chipmunk storing his seeds until he’s done cracking the shells 😂
A killer paint job . A 57 with all the new Summit parts needs a slick beautiful paint job.
Love your channel keep up the good work guys and boss lady.
diggin the '57.....full restore! give it a new life
I would like to see what this classic car really deserves - a full frame off complete restoration to near factory new condition with the exception of all the new aftermarket engine, drive train, suspension and exhaust add-ons.
Do a full resto-mod; I'd love to see more paint and bodywork, like with the Golden Nugget and Banana. What about Hillbilly's bike?
I think you should restore it
Keep it the same colour it looks great
It deserves the body and interior done
Running gear seems good
I'd say you went as far as you already have, you've got the hard part done, so ide vote to see a full restoration and bring it back to full life. If any one can do it, it's you and your team. Love all the videos on this, awesome job to you and hillbilly and summit racing. Thumbs up to all of you and the boss lady.
I would love to see the body completely restored. You have already got a great start in a retomod, so restor the body completely and make it a nice driver as I think you have a good amount of power under the hood already.
I’d love to see a total rebuild. Great project
It would be great for you to do a full restoration ! Yall do a great job !
I would love to see it restored
You three are resilient! Deal with everything with grace and class!
My best friend in high school, 1962, had the exact same car with the stock motor and Powerglide transmission. We changed to a manual 4-speed. What memories watching this video brings back! I would love to see you restore this car to its better than original condition. What a great-looking classic car now even in its current condition.
I would love to see restoration video of the 57 Chevy.
I two am with Demri on the sunflower seeds !Robby thank you so much for the videos you guys are awesome!!!
Would love to see the Chevy restored with an awesome paint job. Would love to see ham radio . Great hobby and we need more people involved in the hobby.
I say paint it and make it as beautiful as the Nugget! 1957's are an icon. The first car I ever rode in -back from the hospital in 1958 was a '56 and I remember it to this day at almost 65.
Rebuild it. Make it nice inside and out. The 57 is an icon and you officially own 2 of my dream cars. The 57 and the 69
Let’s go Hillbilly!!! 🎉 I’m going through the same stuff with my teeth. Hang in there, you’re almost done! Then enjoy your new choppers.
I vote restore it to showroom quality. 57's deserve to look great.
Great car. Needs complete restore Floor pan desperately needed. Stay safe.
I think it would pretty cool to see you and your awesome team completely fix the body rot, and repaint it, make it into a restomod
You guys deserve a lot of credit for putting that car together so well
I'd love to see you put as much into this as you did the Golden Nugget. In any case, you deserve to enjoy this one!
Massive comment response for full restoration, full restore it must be then. I personally would really like to see this car rebuilt, keep it in the family and pass it down to your future generations 😊
It would be really cool to watch you all restomod that thing. Patina is such a over popular gasmonkey thing. You’re a painter and finisher that could bling that out. Happy to watch whatever you all come up with, cheers
I think since you've already changed so much a restoration is out. A classy restomod would be my vote. Full modern engine, trans, drive train, brakes, steering but a classy interior and body. The Robby Layton blue, black gray colour scheme would be amazing with the chrome. Once done, auction it for charity since you're already giving away the charger.
It really needs a complete restoration. It would make a good series like the Golden Nugget.
You’ve already limited options because you’ve embarked on the resto mod course. I suggest you continue on the path to make this beautiful ‘57 a really beautiful fully restored and modernized “resto-mod”, with your special touches on body work and paint’
100% agree 😊
With all you all ready done, this very rare classic absolutely needs to be restored. Considering it also drove you home. That in itself should warrant a restore. That Sliver color really shows well.
I'd like to see the 57 fully restored (body & paint). It will be a time burner to correct the body rot, but would really be impressove. It would be great to see more body work & paint videos describing the whole process
Hillbilly driving the 57 Chevy is perfect. Shades on, window down, arm on the sill, and a smile of contentment. It looks like a late model Norman Rockwell painting.
Put new floor pans in and restore it's a classic
For sure, put that car in the body shop. Give it your best like you did for Ed's Suzuki. Those floorboards may meet VGG standards, but won't last long like they are.
Total Restore. Save that Beautiful 57
It's a classic!! Total restoration of the body and interior!!
Robbie, If I had the resources you have I would completely restore the entire car, while keeping the modern upgrades. Start by stripping it down to the frame, restore the frame and work your way up from there. Replace the floors, new interior (headliner, seats, carpeting), new trunk, install a jack and spare wheel/tire, new sheet metal as needed. Making it perfect will take time, but it's certainly a worthy endeavor.
That (specific) '57 Chevy is a gallant survivor. Yes it should live. American Graffiti the life back into it!
That's a great looking car. Keep the Summit Racing upgrades but restore the body to the way it once was. That's such a nice style it needs to be preserved for a long time. I would even keep the color the same. It looks really nice. Those pictures taken from the new truck of Hilbilly blasting by really shows how special that body style was (is).
Wooo glad to her home!!! I agree with everyone else, a full frame off restoration, would definitely show off your skills, especially dealing with all those Swiss cheese holes
Such an iconic car, restore it.
I would love to see it restored and would eagerly follow it's progress. You don't see very many 2 door coupes around here, they are mostly 2 door post cars.
I am with Demri on the sunflower seeds. Robby, your just different! LOL As far as the future of the '57, I think that you should bring it to Bali, Indonesia and hang out with us here for a while.
57's stance is so spot on! I eat my sunflower seeds one at a time and while watching Robby Layton, the Fab Rats, Matt's Off-road Recovery, Whistlin' Diesel and Chad's Fab youtube videos, there's no other better way! I suggest that you restore that 57 to it's full glory, better than the golden nugget I would say and give it to the boss as a gift.
Hit pause @4:44. Demri's reaction to that drink is exactly what mine was the first time I had one.
I made a mistake one day and bought a bottle of diet Piggly Wigly orange drink for the kids while camping , it was awfull !!!!
Of all the cars I have had over the years, the '57 Chevy was my favorite. It definitely needs to be restored, not a car show restoration but make it look like a nice family car restoration. It needs to be painted - not a Robbie Layton eagle-eye paint job - but better than a Maaco job. My car was turquoise blue with white fins. It also needs air conditioning which it didn't have back then.
The running gear is pretty solid. Do a restoration to the interior and body as it would have been modded in the late fifties early sixties. Be sure to add any safety equipment it needs. It's never going to be a concours car but do keep it as period correct as possible.
Full restoration. There’s not many left, we should all try and do our best to preserve what’s left.
Great video guys!!!
You guys should definitely get your ham radio licenses! This was a fun collaboration.
I think getting your ham licenses would be neat, de WD8CXB.
I’d like to see what dx engineering would do for them. To get them started in ham radio.
I think you guys should show the skills of your body shop and do a full restoration on the 57 Chevy
Full restoration of the Bell Air 57, use it for marketing of Layton Bodyworks
Please do a full restoration! Its such a great car, it definitely deserves a full restoration... looks like I'm not the only one that wants to see it!!❤❤❤
Love to see the whole crew get there technician class ham radio license. DX Engineering is where to go for gear. Tim Duffy has a nice station built-in Summit racing.
73 de N7ZSD
Totally agree! Do it!!
Love the '57.
I think you should restore it and give it away to one of your subscribers.
I think you should do a complete restoration or restomod on the 57
Full restoration with the best paint job you've ever done on the channel.
I personally always liked the old school restored 57's however the pro street look has grown on me over the last couple of years. Either way the car is deserving of new floor pans and a beautiful coat of paint to preserve that awesome sheet metel.
I love the current color scheme on the 57, and it looks awesome, do your magic on the body, it’s got the power already, so jelly.
I would love to see a restomod done to it
As much as we love the patina look on so many classic cars, it's Layton Autobody & Paint, so the '57 most definitely needs a great paint job.
Great video glad you guys made it back safe and sound I say restore the 57 as much as possible it’s a classic .
