@BLACKSTA361If you look back too, fit wouldn’t have worked with LaMelo regardless. Even if Scoot hit his peak, they’re both ball-dominant PGs. Same reason Warriors passed on Melo with Steph being there. Miller actually looks like a better player than Scoot too.

His brilliance still shows. He's got a couple more years to grow before he gets locked into a role of either just being a solid contributor or being the best player in the team
He's not even the Blazers' greatest tragedy. Remember Greg Oden? 1st pick overall in the 2007 NBA Draft, right before Kevin Durant. Or Sam Bowie? 2nd pick overall in the 1984 NBA Draft, right before Michael Jordan. As far as drafting goes in Portland, Scoot is more of the norm than the exception. His draft is nowhere close to being the greatest tragedy.
@@5star64 Irrelevant but let's go there. Oden was already injured when playing the NCAA Final yet, even with that red flag, they still chose him over KD, the leading scorer of the NCAA that year and, arguably the best player that year, along with Oden. But I wasn't calling Oden a bust. I was just saying that the Blazers choosing Oden over Durant is a greater tragedy than drafting Scoot. Even if Scoot ends up out of the league tomorrow, drafting Oden over Durant will remain a greater tragedy. You can't argue that. But their greatest tragedy still remains drafting Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. Sam was an exceptional talent when healthy but, there's the rub. He already had health issues even in college. They had the chance to draft Jordan, the best player in college and the star of the US Olympic basketball team that year. What a shame.

Before the draft I was saying he was the most overrated player in the draft and got so much hate 😭 if you look at his splits and how other ignite players shooting have transitioned to the NBA it was obvious. hes 20 years old, takes time, PG struggles, he will get there blah blah- and why I'm watching the same 20 year old 16th overall Jared Mccain rise on a Rookie Ladder? Scoot tanked my Fantasy league. - generational talent my a$$
He’s still so young still he has time to turn this around. He should definitely hire Chris “Lethal Shooter” Matthews. He’d benefit with working with a defensive specialist as well.
For a normal rookie what he did last season was good. But his label as a generational talent which some even said better than Wemby makes his contribution looks worse than it actually is. Especially with how good B Mills and Wemby did.
Naw don't spin scoots god awful shooting and decision making for a #3 pick. What really made him look bad is the fact miller turned out to be head and shoulders better.
@@almac9203 There are some people who said he should be no. 1 in a draft class that include Victor Wembanyama before the actual draft. Would the G league be considered better or worse competition than Division 1 NCAA Basketball? As odd as it seems, I believe it's worse. That being said, I think Scoot would have benefited from 1 or 2 years of college basketball
Blazers should have kept dame and traded scoot for a star. His stock was so high after being drafted. Dame was loyal to portland for so long. If scoot just becomes a below average starter, portland really messed up
He plays with jerami grant and anfernee Simon’s. His touches are going to be low 🤣🤣🤣 they don’t trust him yet. He will grow into a good player, it’s just going to take some time
Give Scoot time to develop. Portland roster construction is horrible, injury filled with bigs whi can't shoot, finish well and don't have a post game. All the wings are slashers that don't shoot and all the forwards are tweeners stuck between position not excelling as a 3 or 4 on offense. Plus the coaching staff isnt strong enough to develop that team. Add the fact hes fighting for minutes with a combo pg in Simmons
The thing is he's born rich. Usually, guys with same talent but born poor are the ones who becomes great. Scoot is fine, he does not need to work but is actually gainfully employed.
BRONNY JAMES HAS BEEN SET UP FOR SUCCESS WHAT KIND OF BS IS THIS LBJ SR SINCE KOBE BRYANT HAS RETIRED & LBJ SR HAS BECOME THE FACE OF THE NBA HAS BEEN FREE FALLING & IT WILL FOR SOMETIME I CANT WAIT TO MLB STARTS BACK AGAIN NO CAPPING
Scoot's a bum. The blazers have two solid young guards. Sharpe/ Simmons. There is no room for Scoot, and he should be traded for whatever the Blazers can get for him while he still has any value.
Scoot should have taken his behind to college and actuality learned how to play basketball. Trust me he would have been better off. Its the best training grown for young prospects. All that insane hype and the kid couldn't even play. Definitely has talent, %100. But he was nowhere near ready for the NBA
Chauncey is a great PG and player but a shit coach in terms of player development and formation and guidance. Scoot can still blossom with the right coach.
