Shows the evolution of their musical output. I found both Presence and In Through the Out Door interesting in that it showed them moving out of their comfort zone and getting more experimental.
Probably my favorite L Z song. The intro is like... Listening to another world. One from long ago ancient, full of mystery and magic. Sure there's a lot in LZ to like. I am just drawn to this song, from out of the mix. It has a good driving beat, and great instrumentals. All that to me, lends to the lyrics and voice of Robert Plant.
The best thing about this song is Robert Plant's lyrics and delivery of them. I feel like this song is really the perfect showcase of Plant's vocal prowess and ability.
@@lewcrowley3710 Yes I think the song is about a time when Jimmy Page was having difficulty with drug addiction and causing strife between them. So the lyrics “so don’t let her play you for a fool” I think was speaking about the drug addiction as the “her.”
It was ! And it was my first zeppelin album as well, now I own all of them and cherish all of them 40 plus yrs later, thank you LED ZEPPELIN FOR ALL THE GREAT MUSIC OF ALL TIME in my lifetime
This is a very weird song in terms of the fact that there is a disconnect between the lyrics and the music. This is interesting because is personifies the disconnect between the band members that was happening at this time. It has been documented that during the making of this album, Jones and Plant would show up in the mornings and lay down their parts. Page and Bonham would then show up at night and do their tracks. A weird dynamic to be sure, but understandable given that this was probably the lowest point for Page - at least during his time in Zeppelin - in terms of his heroin addiction. Bonham was struggling with his own issues with alcohol. I found it interesting that Bonham's alcohol abuse was pretty much restricted to his time away from his family. He had an intense love for his family and got terribly homesick when he was forced to be away. Alcohol was his escape. In interviews with both his wife and son, they state that when he was at home he was the perfect father.
@@ernestpassaro9663 when was he ever not amazing? I once heard Robert Plant admit in an interview that there were some shows where they weren't very good, for whatever reason. But Bonham was always rock steady.
This album was their swan song and IMHO it's one of their finest records. Magnificent music that I will cherish for the rest of my life. That time period, New Wave emerging full blast from Punk, 76-84, was a golden time, a fantastic time to be young and alive. "It's lonely at the bottom, man, it's dizzy at the top. But if you stand in the middle.......ain't no way you're gonna stop."
Thanks for the lyrics. Like the others here, I really didn't have a clue. The last time I heard this was when I played my vinyl years ago. So the pops & clicks at the end where good too. 🙂

There are 3 absolute masterpieces on this album, this obviously, Carouselambra and I'm gonna crawl, if every song was as good as those 3 it would be the greatest album of ALL TIME!.
Neat electronic treatment of the vocals in editing to give it a kick. John Lennon did this extensively as well. Harmonizing with himself with 2 tracks.

You could not live in the era when this song came out (1970s) and was known more readily there after years (1980s and 1980s) and not rock your balls or boobs off This song, the first time I heard it, probably stoned, just sent me into a audio phonic stratosphere of . . .
