I can't help but feel a bit urked on how much you're underselling the changes/improvements to the gameplay and some of the systems surrounding it. Heck, you even got some details wrong (like about needing a 5-link attack string for final strikes, which is incorrect). But I guess that probably just shows how much time I've put into both "Mask of Deception" and "Mask of Truth" to actually notice all of this in the first place.
This game and its predecessor are quite the emotional roller coaster. One of the best video game stories I've ever experienced. The final series of battles drags on a little too long, but otherwise I can't think of a single complaint. It's one of those games like Persona were you feel sad that you have to say goodbye to all these friends when it's over. Seriously, more people need to play these Utawarerumono games. Luckily a remake of the first game in the trilogy is coming to the U.S. later this year! (As well as an action game adaptation of the series, which I heard is not very good.)
Same here. Just stumbled upon this at a GameStop for $19.99 new and it was the last one. Probably one of those JRPGs that will be worth some money 10 years from now because that didn't sell very many when they came out, but go up in value because they are a hidden gem.
Yeah. Looks like a remake. I am glad to come across this one. Because I fell in love with the battle system in Tear to Tiara II! Actually Mask of Deception is similar too!
the anime was ok but kinda draggy and stupid at times and definitely unfinished I wonder when they are going to continue with its sequel(this one)that's if they are even considering it
I don't see why they should continue the anime. The anime acted mostly as a commercial for the previous game. Seeing as anyone who bought mask of deception would most likely buy mask of truth too, there is really no point for another anime.
Super enjoyable story..? I finished it but i had to fight the urge to yell fucking why every 2 minutes.. i failed more than a few times at that too Hilarious to find out the first game was a hentai game which the women from tuskur were in though

I'm surprised not many people enjoy this kind of visual novel ^_^ and thx for the review Gammalad
