It's a shame that this never found an audience. You can see the effort and care Vis put into it. I love the expressions in those cutscenes (and the artstyle as a whole) . Thanks for adding another game to my collection!
Also, thanks for making me think of State of Emergency for the first time in what has to be about 12 years or more lol.

I played this as a kid around the time it came out and honestly i think its a hidden gem. like its not the best game iv ever played by any means but id say its up there with games like gun as being a kind of unknown yet well done game that is defiantly worth playing if u can find it.

I bought this game today for £2 from local 2nd hand shop. Excellent review sir and your humour was spot on (made me laugh at the coffee shop:) 5:55 reminded me of Super Mario 64 finding a Power Star:-) Cheers.

Shame it never had a chance to do well.. something like an animated TV series or other media could have given this game a better shot reception wise…

A cartoon series would have been great.

      Oh hell yeah.
The game certainly felt like an animated series condensed into a game.

As a big fan of 3D Platformers, I've seen this a few times but I keep forgetting to pick it up. However, I do totally believe you when you say it's excellent - I have no idea why so many ignored "B-Tier" 3D Platformers from the sixth console generation. Kya Dark Lineage, Vexx, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 1 & 2, Disney's Treasure Planet, KAO the Kangaroo Round 2, Rayman 2/Revolution and Rayman 3, I-Ninja, Ape Escape 2 and 3, the Tak & the Power of Juju games... just so many games that feel great to play, are polished, well-produced and animated, and try at least one or two cool & interesting things. Seriously, seemingly everyone who attempted a 3D Platformer did a pretty great job. Every _*real_ studio, anyway... I'm still fairly certain that whoever made Ninjabread Man were still bad :P
That's why it pisses me off so much when some lazy people kept writing off the recent disaster that _is_ Balan Wonderworld as a game that was just like PS2 3D Platformers. No it wasn't; those games were good. Balan Wonderworld is not, you hack "gaming journalists." urrrgh. But I digress.
Unfortunately, my US PS2 is busted at the moment and won't read discs. My JP PS2 is fine, but for the moment, that has pretty much put a stop to my retro game collecting for the platform besides the rare import here or there. But when I get around to fixing it or buying a new US PS2, I'll hunt down a copy of Brave. There's a couple other 3D Platformers I need to nab anyway...
    Thanks for the recommendation!

I was considering on picking this game up. And I thought that getting the expanded port for the Wii would make some sense. Before any of you decide to buy the port, just don’t.
Somehow, the textures and overall graphics look worse than on PS2, especially on Wii. Textures are either missing or lack proper effects, causing artifacts to be visible or glitch out. Brave’s hair physics are gone. And textures on the Wii version look like it was only supposed to be on PSP.
Speaking of the PSP version, seems like it was cancelled. There’s no gameplay or screenshots to be found online. And while there were listings on Amazon, there’s no images taken of a physical copy.
One last thing is that they decided to add extra content with a male and female character that you select before starting a file. These exclusive levels are incredibly buggy, with you often clipping in the ground. And when you reach the final boss, you are interrupted with more levels with the custom character. And THEY replace the original boss. You are also robbed of the OG ending with an ending that was clearly using recycled assets and lazy applause animations.
    Stick with the PS2 version.
Warrior’s Tale on 360 and especially Wii is a BAD time. (Also, no camera control on Wii.)

I always wanted to buy this game whenever I saw it at GameStop, but never got it. I thought it looked liked a Tak and the Power of Juju type from the box art. Though looking back, I think Tak was either a native Australian or South American.
Looking at this video, I'm actually fine not having gotten it.

Both Tak and Brave are Native American. The difference is Brave is inspired by the Natives from the US like Sioux and Apache. Tak looks to be inspired by Mesoamerican natives like Aztec and Mayan. Both represent Native American culture though.
