    We stay in the NCL Haven each time we sail. We have booked the NCL Encore Haven for 21 days starting in April. We are looking forward to cruising again after two year hiatus from cruising. Thanks for all of your great info as we have never been on the Encore. We love that they have an elevator in the Haven area. At my age the stairs are hard to navigate. Thanks again, Jeff and Neil

    We're on NCL Escape 8/27-9/3/23 NYC to Canada. We're celebrating our 50th anniversary so instead of a regular accessible cabin we took the spa suite. The in room jacuzzi will be great muscle relaxer! I bought the remote control terminator scooter (post polio). It fits through any cabin door. I'll also bring 2 plastic steps to help me get over the lip in the bathroom & onto the balcony. I use crutches to get around the room. Did you tip the cabin steward, butler, waiter and host? How dressy was it in the haven dining room? I have a very dressy outfit but didn't want to stand out if there's no elegant night. Were you contacted by anyone in the Haven prior to boarding about preferences? My husband is allergic to shellfish. Did the butler unpack for you? Did you have to ask him? Our bar bill last cruise was around $350.00 so we're not taking a drink package. LOL We also hear the Haven is the best place to eat so the 2 free speciality restaurants won't be used. Did you use the spa pool? Do they have a lift?

    • @NavigateWith
      @NavigateWith  11 месяцев назад +1

      A lot of questions!!! Ok we tipped our cabin steward the most because he did a great job and did the most work for us all week, we gave a small tip to the butler because we never used his services and honestly he didn't really offer, the only other person we tipped was one of the pool attendants that took care of us during the week!
      For dress, we did smart casual at night and did get a little more dressed up for the cocktails with the captain event.
      The Haven team reached out to us by email about 3 weeks before our sailing.
      The Haven pool did not have a lift during out sailing, Nate did go in and leveraged the spas.
      The Haven food was really good and if you skip the specialty restaurants you won't really miss out.
      We have several other videos about our time aboard NCL so you should check those out as well and thanks for watching!!!

    Thank you for the beautiful video coverage of your accessible room. I was on the Haven a few years ago in an accessible room. I was overwhelmed by the service, quality of food, and the size of the gorgeous room. Generally I switch sides of the bed when travelling if the bed is on the wrong side of the room. I travel using a power wheelchair. I have subscribed to your channel. I look forward to more videos.

    That was great! Thank you for sharing. Preparing my first cruise, I am more concerned about how I will maneuver my walker and my luggage than covid my sail date nears. For that reason, and a couple of other things I am specifically looking for, I am considering the Haven upgrade, but the budget has to be do-able. So I appreciate your extra tips and tour to help me decide and to be more prepared

    I think the easiest solution for the bed transfer issue would be to have a portable low profile ramp that slides under the bed when not in use. The cabin steward could bring it out at turn down. Seems a lot easier than changing the bed frame or removing pillow tops etc.

    Labels on the food would be nice.
    Showing interaction with butler and concierge would be good. You showed what you got in the Haven boarding wait room and you said you would video what they had available, but next thing was boarding. It could be a little more informative if you kept the camera rolling to make us feel like we are doing the Haven embarkation.

    Maybe they ( ALL cruise lines) should consult with someone from ADA. They one be the ones who could help with what is really needed. That pole right next to the bed makes a tight space. The two bedside tables should be mounted on the wall to give better floor space. Glad you had a great cruise. The Haven is wonderful.

    • @NavigateWith
      @NavigateWith  2 года назад

      Agreed that the ADA laws are a good starting point, but focus groups with people with all sorts of disabilities would go a long way in helping with both ship and room design. Appreciate the comment and thank you for watching!

    Very helpful. I'm also in a wheelchair and my wife and I cruise occasionally. I was just researching the Haven and came across your video. I'm 6'2" and my wife is 5'4". As a C6 quad I need her help transferring and we use a lift at home and slide board when we travel. I've never tried to bring a lift onboard, but it looked like the bed was open underneath. Is that the case? I might explore the possibility of using a lift onboard.

    • @NavigateWith
      @NavigateWith  2 года назад +1

      Justin, it was open underneath again I would really check with the cruise line to make sure nothing has changed. Colleen uses a slide board for her car, but the bed in the Haven was to high for her to have that as an option.

    We are getting ready to leave for our cruise in the haven suites and was wondering if I should order the water package or if they keep your suite stocked with water?

    • @NavigateWith

      Great question. We only got a couple of bottles for free. Honestly the tap water is fine and we brought plenty of glasses of water back to our room at night from the Haven bar.

    Hi, thanks for sharing all the videos. I saw that the espresso in the Haven restaurant was Starbucks. Was the french press coffee Starbucks also? If it is was there anywhere to get NON Starbucks coffee?

    • @NavigateWith

      We don’t know what the brand was but it super smooth and honestly one of the best cups of coffee we have had, which says a lot because Nate drinks a ton of coffee!

    We had a similar problem on the MS Rotterdam. Our second stateroom on board was incorrectly furnished. My girlfriend couldn't get to either side of the bed. Only after consultation with the manager. The bed was rotated a quarter turn. My girlfriend was able to get into bed so well. I only had to enter the bed through the foot of the bed.
    Eventually the problem was solved.

    • @NavigateWith

      Yep, we wish that cruise lines and hotels would consult with actual people in wheelchairs to truly understand their needs!

  • @donnawood271
    @donnawood271 2 года назад +1

    Well what they should do is have those particular rooms like on a thing that lowers can go as low as to the floor and then you could let it go up higher like a hospital bed kind of thing but I agree with you because as much money as you pay for the Haven and I know during this time you get awesome awesome awesome deals. But it kind a starts your vacation of Kinda on a disappointing factor

    Well I have found out because when you have people that are designing things specially like for handicap they need to have someone that is handicap to be part of the design and like you said it it’s not about how pretty it looks it’s about you being able to maneuver on your own and that’s just like with children’s like play places you do you have people that are doing this I’ve never had a child and don’t have a clue so prayerfully going forward you know that would be something that the cruise lines would look into

    If you are designing an accessible room, it needs to actually be accessible FIRST, before the decor choices. Someone on their design team had a big fail on this one not brining people in to test it before settling on the design.

    It is a beautiful terminal but I kind of feel like it’s a lot of wasted space a lot I mean how many floors is that and you gotta think they have to heat it and AC it I mean it’s just massive I kind of feel like a lot of wasted money

    We just cruised the Haven on the VIVA from San Juan to Lisbon Portugal (Aprill 2024), 19 days. I think overall they could have done much better. The first off the ship is a joke, there were people jumping the line ques to run over to the buses. We had one jerk run right over top of my wife and I confronted this juice monkey...he finally backed down when he realized that everyone on the platform was watching him and his moronic behavior, that is the Haven we experienced. So, basicallly we spent 19 days on the ship and I would not buy the Haven room again. There are basically no perks worth the money that you pay. You eat the same food, take the same excursions (no extra perk on the excursions either). The only benifit to the Haven is a set of two(2) private Haven elevators that were under repair a lot of the time, so no service. The pool area and hot tub area are subject to screaming children just like everywhere else on the ship. Save your money and book 3 cruises for the price of the Haven, hard pass from here on. Sorry NCL, it is a good gimick

      We got a “deal” because of the shutdown, but again can’t recommend at this point especially because the accessibility isn’t up to want we need!
