      Thanks for the kind words. I am proud to read that our work is inspiring to you to get started at the track! The MT09 might be a better fit for you with the torque it offers? Depends what you ride for the street as you should have some close compatibility in engine size and configuration.

      I'm pretty surprised at how much life I've gotten out of my power 5s. Probably 5-6 track days @ intermediate pace in hot conditions plus a couple thousand miles easily on a rear. It's wear-profiled (squared off) so I'm using it for commuting, and can probably get another 500 miles before hitting the center wear bars on the rear. Next up, s22.

    Still waiting for you to get to the Power GP....... you've done 2 out of the 4 Michilen tires. The DOT Cup 2 and the power 5 Now. The Power Slick 2 is pretty much the same as the cup 2, and the Power GP is a slightly stiffer and sticker tire closer the old RS. Definitely looking forward to it. I have the Battlax S22 so this video is greatly appreciated. I need some confirmation that the Power 5 is on the same level as the S22. Michelin says 155°F is optimal operating temps.

    • @alanbrown5593
      @alanbrown5593 2 года назад +2

      I can recommend the GP over the power 5, gets up to temp quicker and grippier which leads to more confidence =quicker. This is on an S1000rr, other bikes may suit different tyres.

    • @Gambo916
      @Gambo916 2 года назад +4

      I'm surprised Dave is testing the Power 5 and not the Power GP against these other hypersport tyres. Michelin state the Power 5 as a sporty road tyre, whereas their Power GP is described as a high performance road/occasional trackday tyre.....which would therefore suggest it being a more appropriate and fairer comparison for this test.
      Having previously favoured Metz and Bridgy's hypersports offerings for many many years, I have recently (about 2 years ago) made the change over to Michy, and I'm soooooo glad I did.

      @@Gambo916 yeah well the Power GP would be Better compared to the Battlax RS11 not the S22. So the Power 5 is a fair comparison against the S22. They are the same category. Dave is right on this one 100%. So I don't think the Q3+ is a fair comparison because the Q3/Q3+ is fair against the Power GP, Battlax RS11, and Supercorsa SPv3. While the DOT race class the fair pick would be Q4, Power Cup 2, Battlax R11, and Supercorsa TD

      @DR-hw9js Год назад

      @@sunnycanida9168 if go back you will clearly see that I've stated the Power GP is a Category ahead of the the S22 and Power 5.
      Being over a year since my original comment/ reply. I've ridden with both tires to a great degree. The Power GP can Handle the Power and Torque of 600cc Supersport all day! Even on a Panigale V4R at 236 BHP it will still nab pretty much all you can give it. On a Superbike like the V4R it has enough power to break traction at will and with little effort. However the difference being is that it is done very predictably. The way it breaks traction is once it starts spinning if the bike's on the right settings it spins very manageably. Even with the settings on low traction control race mode basically. Still spends in a very predictable manner and you can control it from the throttle with ease. That's more important than wondering if it has enough grip is how does it slip when you break the traction at will. And it recovers smoothly.

    I have a ninja 1k with road 5's on it and started doing the odd track day last year. I now have a puncture in the rear and the tyres could probably do with replacing anyway.
    Would you recommend these as a replacement for general road use with the odd track day thrown in? It is a heavier bike, so the soft carcass might not be ideal? The road 5s did hold up fine for a rookie on track to be fair and I'm a bit of a michelin fan boy for road tyres.
    Long term I'd probably want to get an old 600 and put more racing focussed tyres on there. But for now the ninja should be fine for some casual track days.

    • @catalystreactionsbw
      @catalystreactionsbw  Год назад

      I would stay with the Road 5';s for consistency and trust. You being content and getting the same response out of the motorcycle when riding is critical. Good point on an older motorcycle for track learning. If you can find an older ZX6 2000-2005 that would be ideal.

    I like the look of the power 5's but I'm trying to decide if I should get a more touring focused tyre like Dunlop roadsmart 4.
    I ride a 2012 cbr1000rr on English roads. I only normally ride in dry conditions and normally ride fairly smoothly and like to carry corner speed without too much hard braking and acceleration.. I want the tyres to work in cold conditions with quick warm up for short journeys. I also ride in hot conditions and like to push on abit sometimes. Can anyone recommend which tyre would work best?

    • @catalystreactionsbw
      @catalystreactionsbw  2 года назад +2

      If you enjoy agility in your CBR a more touring focus will slow down turn and and transitions. This seems like an ideal profile for you compared to the Hypersport category where it is a little harder to initiate but then the bikes falls into the turns and offers a lot of side grip for those that want to accelerate hard. As a compromise, I think the Pirelli Angel GT II will be a tyre that you really like.
