Scjaraçule maraçule is an ancient dance song of medieval origin from Friuli in Italy, where I live, sung in times of drought to invoke rain. The original text reads: «Scjaraçule Maraçule la lusigne e la cracule, la piçule si niçule di polvar a si tacule. O scjaraçule maraçule cu la rucule e la cocule, la fantate je une trapule il fantat un trapulon» and it means «Scjaraciule (stick, cane) and Maraciule (fennel), the firefly and the tree frog, the little one swings and gets stained with dust. O' scjaraciule maraciule, with arugula and walnut, the girl is a trap (liar) the boy is a big trap (big liar)»

Don't forget the Polish pioneer of the revival of early music in Poland, Antoni Pilch. I spent one academic year in Poland, 1988 to 1989. I was a music major (classical guitar and lute) at a university in Texas (U. Of North Texas] 1979 - 1987.

There is absolutely a Stary Olsa song that has this same melody. Obviously sounds quite a bit different with their bagpipes, but the melody is unmistakable. Marazula is the name of the song. I'm guessing it was a common melody of the time, played differently in different regions.
