Machaut embodies the culmination of the poet-composer tradition stretching back to the traditions of troubadour and trouvère.
In "Douce Dame Jolie", the lyrical subject praises the beauty of the young lady, assuring her of his undying love.

You deserve praise for two major things: turning a 14th century song into a videoclip that tells a story that Binchois himself would approve. Second and foremost, you used extremely accurate clothings, setting, furniture... and even the situations (dancing, gestures, etc). This is as educational as should be: history on the move, who makes people think about what are those "strange things" they're seeing and listening too... and making them prone to search about it. That's the way historical music is meant to be played. Bravo!

The clothes! I'm so happy this was suggested to me. I knew it was going to be good when I saw that herringbone wool pattern in the close up at the start.
I also love how there's humor integrated into the plot. Just because it's medieval it doesn't mean it must be dour and grim!

A very famous musician, singer and composer in Brazil (Renato Russo), created the modern version of this song using only the instrumental in reference to medieval times. The song is called "A Ordem dos Templários" by the band "Legião Urbana" of which he was a member.

Great video but zero connection to the words of the song which would have been sung by a man to the lady whom he admired but who alas did not reciprocate his amorous advances - the typical medieval story of unrequited love. Anyway, fun to watch and more historically accurate costumes and decor than most! And well performed music too. Well done!
