The Basic Corrections Training Program Experience

  • New Correctional Officers and Juvenile Program Workers in Maine attend a 6-Week Basic Corrections Training Program, funded by MDOC, that includes 42.5 hours-per-week of paid training. Classes are held regionally at a MDOC facility and follows the BCTP curriculum required by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy for state certification.

    I believe Mc Donald’s workers go thorough longer training.

      I’m starting my physical test In April. Do it man. It’s a great career and the money is definitely there to be made

      @@taymoula563it is not a great career 🤦🏽‍♂️😂 85% of law enforcement suicidal deaths are from corrections. It mentally drains you, get use to working 18hrs.

      not saying it’s a bad career but you’ll definitely get stressed out with coworkers & inmates, I worked at willacy county for 3 years then transferred to tdcj thinking it would be more structured & cos would take rank seriously…that wasn’t the case at all lol, Half of the time i worked with lazy officers who wouldn’t do nothing but sit in the picket all day & sleep…so i called it quits & decided to join the military instead

    5 and a half weeks seems fine for a CO but I didn’t even know the people in the police academy until week 5 lol I got to know them after a very long 18 and some change week police academy

    How can I train better for the academy? Half way through the process want all advice I can get

      Don’t do it. 85% law enforcement suicidal deaths are from corrections. It mentally drains you, 18hr shifts. If your doing it just for the money it ain’t for you

      12 weeks in IL for county. IDOC is about 10 weeks
