(3:49) "You have boobs so you can't know cars mindset". That is such an awesome statement. I worked for a while as a parts manager for a Rover dealership in Scotland, and a woman (I think around 22 at the time) was employed as my assistant. The number of times I heard her ' *Sigh* hey boss would you talk to this moron?' Really pissed me off. So I got permission from MY boss to put up a sign saying 'The young lady you are about to talk to at the counter probably knows more about cars than some of the mechanics that actually work here (the mechanics didn't mind me saying that), so please do not disrespect her, and treat her with courtesy.' Didn't here the *Sigh* hey boss question much after that.

At one point in my life I was really into hot spicy foods, I was never rice about it but I often told staff that the hotter the better and that I won't complain if it's too hot. This is because the best wings at my favorite bar were also their hottest wings and I just got used to the heat. I did this at a bar with a friend, they were a bit concerned but I told them not to worry if it's too hot I'll still pay for it without complaint, I got three wings in when the bartender asked how they were, they were delicious and I let him know, I then noticed him turn and look at the cook who was watching me eat them. The cook turned and went back into the kitchen which is a shame because if he would have waited a minute longer he would have seen my friend try one and immediately start cussing me out for his hot it was.

I used to work in a gas station where there was a very prominent sign which gave the standard labor rate for mechanic work. Below that was a slightly higher rate for them watching, and an even higher, rather exhorbitant rate for if they wanted t help. And customers wanting us to install parts that they brought in were told no, in no uncertain terms (except for tires, because we did not sell them there, but did repairs, mount, balance and installation).

Our daughter purchased a used car from Don's Brooklyn it had a radiator leak, we took it to the certified dealership service department so we would get genuine and were willing to pay for GM parts. When the bill came I asked you did replace it with genuine GM parts, he said well we thought we would save you some money, so no, I raised hell and said I wanted a GENUINE GM parts radiator, sorry we cannot do that as we have other customers waiting. The radiator overheated a few days after repair, and caused the top part of the engine to crack, the dealership refused to fix the issue; I wanted them to replace the head of the engine, put in new gaskets AND PUT IN THE DAMN CORRECT RADIATOR. If you are in Ohio the dealership was Don's Brooklyn Chevy dealer. They have been out of business for years, serves the M'fing a'holes right.

Back in the 70s I was the asst manager of a we- pump- the- gas station. Also worked 2nd shirt. Cold winter, I bundled up well, wore little to no makeup. We had a regular customer who drove a Porsche, and I gassed, oiled and fluid check it all winter no problem. Come spring, I'm down a few layers and looking girly, bop over to pump his premium, and he flips out. Where's the guy? I said what guy? The guy who worked here all winter! He knows my car, you can't take care of it, you're a girl! I told him fine, get off the lot. He started screaming when another guy comes over and tells him that I'm the only one here all winter, so he(new guy) knows I've been taking care if the Porsche. Porsche dude backs up, looks at me squinting and said I guess you can pump the gas, but I'll chk the fluids. I said nope, porch ( something I had called a few times before) it's all or nothing. Cue HUGE apology and he got back in his car without another word.

First story: are you kidding me? If someone put that amount of jalapenos on my food when I asked I would be a customer for life. That sounds *delicious*. There was this one pizza place that had this special, chain-exclusive pizza that included jalapenos. I knew how much they were supposed to put on for the chain's standards, and every single time I got it, this one pizza maker there would be like, literally, one or two sliced peppers on each side of the pizza so I'd have to order extra to just get the normal amount on there. Same went for tomato sauce with this particular maker, you'd get a smear of sauce unless you asked for extra and then your price has gone up about $3 and you finally got a normal amount.
This kind of backfired with the sauce whenever one of the other makers was on (which was rarely)because you'd be swimming in sauce, but pleasantly pleasing with the jalapenos.
I'm the kind of person that makes chilli at home with three jars of sliced jalapenos and uses the pepper juice in the sauce though.

I love spicy food. I usually order a 7 on a scale of 1-5 in a Thai restaurant (U.S.). Jalapeños are great, but honestly, not super spicy. What that jerk got was a lot of jalapeño and I assume they were preserved/pickeled (damn those are tasty!) but not a whole lot of heat on the Scoville scale. So the juice was the pickling liquid, which can be spicy, but more vinegar than spicy hot.

Like most people these days I’m an impatient A-hole is it worth 3 or 4 days plus the possibility of failure on something that’s used often, to save less that $50 , no it is not . I wrenched in a salvage yard in the 90s. If my nephew didn't want to be bothered by someone he would say "I'll get Bobbie to do this for you."
Men would ask if anyone else was around to do it. That's when my rate tripled, and the nephew's doubled. I charged half of his rate.

    • @andrewvelonis5940
      @andrewvelonis5940 2 года назад

I don't understand your math: If your rate tripled (3x) and your rate is half of that of your nephew, that's 1.5x but if his doubled, that's 2x and is that per customer, or across the board?

i posted elsewhere: i asked my supervisor (i was a parts delivery driver) at autozone why the trucks were all "unmarked". it seems the auto dealer garages didn't want their customers to know their overpriced factory warranted parts came from autozone. heh.

I delivered for them too... I was told it was to help prevent accident insurance scams against them (only one of the other auto parts stores had their name on their truck). 🤷

@@danilane7117 most likely no one really knows--maybe the company owner was too cheap pay for a logo. i quit when i got my first annual raise: 5 cents/hr, and the store manager got a $3000 bonus for "keeping overhead costs down".

Story 2. We call it false economy. Used to do basic car maintenance with my wife’s uncle years ago. Oil change, brakes, clutches etc. one guy turns up, need clutch replaced on sons car. Ok no problem. While we’re at it do you want the back plate replacing as well. This does tend to wear and if clutch slipping then this may also be worn as well. Only another £20 or so as I recall and as we’ve got it stripped down then nothing extra for labour. Oh no you’re just trying to get extra money out of me. No we’re not that’s the cost of the part. We’re technically fitting it free as part of the clutch replacement. No. Don’t want it costs too much. Rubbish, you’re gonna have to replace it sooner or later and when it does fail it’ll cost you just as much to fit for labour as it will mean dropping the gearbox again.
Guess what happens a couple of months later. He’s back complaining can’t get it into gear blamed us for shoddy workmanship. Said that we told him what would happen and he refused to pay the extra 20 quid for the part. Now he’s going to have to pay for it anyway plus it’s going to cost him even more for someone to fit it cos we’re not after the way he’s just spoken to us.

    I love spicy foods.
My favorite go to poor man meal is chicken Ramen with prego Italian sausage and garlic sauce dowsed with Frank's Red Hot.i could easily get 6 meals for 10 bucks total with the cost being 2 jars of pregnancy and a Ramen 12 pack.
The Frank's red hot is somewhat negligible since it can spread over dozens of meals.
My favorite place to get Mexican from is a hole in the wall bar here west of Bennington (north of Omaha) on Taco Tuesday and get their super enchilada. That's an enchilada with no sauce, but topped with lettuce, onions, jalapeños, black olives, tomatoes and cheese and stuff on the inside with the same things. The meat is tge right kind of salty to go along with the spice if the jalapeño and is so good. I never stopped to fully tell if the jalapeños ate pickled too or not, but I think they are.
