Hello friends! I would have liked to include games like World of Final Fantasy or the Pokémon Diamond/Pearl remakes, but as you know, this is a retro channel and the intention of Bits & Beats is to preserve old video games (and hopefully discover some titles you didn't know about). I know you will understand this kind of omissions and I hope you enjoy the video!
4:50 : A spinoff of Virtua Fighter 2? But let's be honest, Super puzzle Fighter, Mighty Final Fight, and Super Gem Fighter were the three only ones that came to mind
It seems like chibi-style spinoffs could be lucrative if used correctly. Virtua Fighter Kids(2:49) and Pocket Fighter(4:23) are examples of using chibi art successfully. They take fighting franchises geared toward hardcore gamers and make them more friendly to a casual audience. People love lighthearted tone the chibi style brings. This allows a certain degree of freedom as well. Mainly, characters can be more wacky and expressive. I enjoyed seeing Ryu smack Zangief with a sign post(4:56).Chibi spinoffs could be lucrative; however, chibi spinoffs cannot work for every franchise. If your main series art style is already kind of cute and cartoony, then it is not worth the effort. This is why I believe Mega Man Powered Up was not as successful. Megaman may be in 3-D, but it is not much different than the mainline series.
I never knew about SD Snatcher before. Dang, that is pretty cool! Wish that got ported to the NES or SNES or MegaGen back in the day; would've given that game a lot more exposure and opened up the audience to so many more people. Never knew about Pocket Racer either, but as a huge Ridge Racer fan, _I WANT IT RIGHT NOW,_ lol. I love some of those Great Battle/Compati Hero games. Glad I found them/they're finding an audience outside of Japan now thanks to emulation, fan patches and emulator consoles :) This list is great; showed off a lot of fun-looking games! Mega Man Powered Up in particular deserves a TON more attention, both for being a serious contender for best Mega Man game (I love that they updated the Robot Master roster in that game to eight finally since MM1 always stuck out with just six, and that you could play as any other Robot Master by defeating them with the Mega Buster instead of destroying them with whatever weapon they were weak against so Dr. Light could repair them. Also playable Protoman and Roll) _and_ for the fact that it did user generated level creation and sharing well before Mario Maker and even before LittleBigPlanet and ModNation Racers iirc. There were TONS of content to play through with that; I will never know why Capcom never just made an HD version of that and sold it on XBLA, PSN and Steam back in the day. smh Anyway, awesome theme to spotlight!
I don’t think The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was counted as a Spin-off, but a Main Line Title. But, I do like to see a Part 2 Video for a Chibi-Styled Video Games.
I think they were just using it as a convenient term for SD games made from an existing series. However WW can also be classed as a spin off as it was the first in one of the timelines and the others in that timeline retain the Toon Link style.
@@goatbone Wind Waker is never classified as a Spin-Off, the Spin-offs that were in The Legend of Zelda series are Hyrule Warriors series, Link's Bow Training, CDi Zelda games, etc.
I played MySims on the Wii, the DS and on the computer, where the Sims are all totally chibi-fied, but it was kind of meh. Collecting their statues in The Sims 4 was cool, though.
Pocket fighter is the best love letter to capcom. Sad that capcom is gone, it’s just monster hunter 100, sf6 that looks last gen,too wwe and RE’s that have big women for cucks to enjoy. You want marvel vs capcom 2/snk vs capcom/X-men vs sf/msh vs sf? Nope

What about samurai shodown pocket, and kid dracula, and pocky and rocky?
I owned both Mighty Final Fight and Pocket Fighter. Good times.

There was a spin off of the blazblue series called blayzebloo for dsiware which also use the chibi style.Great video anyway
Also:
- Super Puzzle Fighter (Capcom)
- SD Gundam Force
- Few KOF games for the GB or GBC
The virtual fighter kids looks like when you activate DK mode un goldeneye haha.
Also the street fighter description has the same as virtual fighter
The subtitles for Pocket Fighter are the same as Kid Virtua Fighter. Anyways, great video.
Sorry 🙏
Also The Great Battle IV says "Nintendo NES" when it should be "Super Famicom", or "Super Nintendo" at least. It happens
Nice vid idea!!!
I think you’ve made a mistake on Pocket Fighters.

Great choice, another games from the Neo Geo Pocket is Fatal Fury, Last Blade SNK vs Capcom and Samurai Shodown!
does Kid Dracula count?
Also, love the Great Battle series, specially the 3rd one, it has some beautiful sprites and music that adds to its charm

Great vid. Like your original ideas :)
It's somewhat weird seeing some bouncing at the SD Model of Elis from Battle Arena Nitoshiden :D
Oh wow!! Those guys from "River City Ransom" totally look like to the "Nintendo World Cup" video game soccer player ones 😱😱
In Japan they are part of the same series.
It had to be😁😁
Awesome thanks again for another fantastic video 😎👍
Nice video

Estupendo vídeo saludos cordiales 😃
Everything in this video is all about anime chibi style (literally like some random moments in anime tv fanservice show)
Great video
Pocket Fighter description is the same as Virtua Fighter Kids. Might as well add a correction there via subtitles or something
8:18 There i am!

Que hermosos juegos... "¡¡LOS PIXELES SERAN ETERNOS!!"
Amén!
