SO helpful! More helpful than the customer service person I spoke to on the phone. I found your video from a Google search. Level should hire you because I was about to write a really nasty e-mail when the e-mail sent from Level had nothing to do with anything showing in my apps. You're a rockstar, Rey!
So unfortunately I’m seeing this video a few months too late and my firmware has updated to 2.27.5. I did find a workaround until there is homekey integration. I put the nfc keycard in my iPhone case (MagSafe) and it works perfectly by touching the back of my phone to the lock. Thought I’d share.
Brilliant!! I bought a Level Lock Touch expecting it to do this already. Unfortunately i shipped it to mybhouse in the UK.i was thinking how to sell it and get the plus.
This video was specifically for the 2.27.4 firmware Level released which they since pulled. If you need HomeKey and a Level Lock you’ll need to pick up a Plus for now.
Had a Level Touch and sold it to get the Plus. If I had known that they would update it eventually, I would have kept the Touch since I sold it for $100 less than I paid for it. I don't need the key in the wallet. Good vid.
LEVEL Released FW: 2.27.5, if you have 2.27.4 and want this feature, DO NOT UPDATE. Let me know if this worked for you! Try placing your iPhone as shown in the video just above the key cylinder. If using an Apple Watch place the face over the lock and leave it there for a bit. Remember to update to 2.27.4 and pull the battery to restart the lock after update confirmation.
@@rudea.368 If you had 2.27.4 then yeah, crap. If you didn’t upgrade to it then It wouldn’t have mattered as Level pulled it and replaced it with 2.27.5.
I’m wondering if this is the reason for the quick 2.27.5 security update. I cannot remember getting an email from Level about a critical security/patch update before…
I know right? I’m starting to believe that they were working on the added feature internally and forgot to disable it or tried to hide it in plain sight thinking no one would notice. In any case, I deleted the native app for now. Lock works fine with an added Easter egg 🪺.
It’s still not “official” Home Key so I’m guessing that’s why Level doesn’t mention it. There will always be those that have complaints. Thanks for watching! 🙏
Unfortunately they did block it with another firmware upgrade. Mine still works as shown in the video and I uninstalled the native Level app so that it wouldn’t inadvertently update the firmware to a non-working version.
It worked for us… We only have one level lock touch. No plus. Placed my phone as shown and Magic! It unlocked! Tried it several times and worked every time! Level will really piss me off if they take this functionality away! They are just begging for a class action with the way they’ve handled this so far…
@@ReyG_HKSH promise you I will do everything in my power to keep it where it is. It really grinds my gears that back in November ‘22 their CTO said all their equipment would get thread support in a “future update”. Since then the company has walked that back and said an update will NOT be for thread because of some “hardware upgrades” in the Lock+. This proves that the all hardware they need for HomeKey is there and their greed is making them force consumers to pay again for tech they already purchased! This kind of behavior will definitely keep me from EVER purchasing another product from Level. Even with the poor performance and buggy behavior of the Level Touch, I am still impressed with the hardware. But now, instead of a happy brand ambassador, they have converted me to a disappointed former customer who feels swindled and cheated by this “security” company. What kind of security company are you if you readily betray the trust of your loyal customers?!?
@@DonnyLockart I hear ya.’ They can’t put the cat back in the bag, we know what the Level Lock Touch is capable of with a firmware upgrade. Under promise and over deliver should be the mantra of all companies. These locks need Thread. I have a level bolt that is now dead even after replacing battery. Tech support is not responding as I have been asking them to replace due to short battery life (4-6 weeks) I am using HomeKit and placed a HomePod mini 5 feet away. Thoughts on getting help?
So completely dead? What kind of batteries are you using? I read somewhere that rechargeable batteries aren’t recommended. I would suggest continuing to contact tech support, and possibly hitting them up on social media.
There are no particular settings. Pull the battery after the update to firmware 2.27.4 and let the lock reset. Then try to place the iPhone as I’ve shown in the video just above the key cylinder. It didn’t work for me initially but surprised me when it did. Let us know if you get it to work.
@@ReyG_HKSH Just wanted to let you know that this worked for me too! Didn't when I first tried but I kept trying because of this video. I almost, almost updated the firmware but then I checked in here first and glad I did, haha. Thanks for the heads up!
This required a specific firmware release that Level quickly replaced once they realized this added functionality was included.I didn’t update away from the firmware and it still works like Home Key.
If you have more than a single lock (for instance one for my room and the other for the main door) can you give access to only one of them to my family members? Otherwise all the locks are available for all my family without options?
Unfortunately none that I am aware of. You’d need access to the 2.27.4 firmware and Level pulled it shortly after I asked why the functionality wasn’t publicized. Oops.
Just so we're clear: it would seem you need to have a Touch *and* a Lock+ so that you can actually create a Home Key first, right? Otherwise, I'm missing how this would work.
I happen to have both, but I’m unable to verify that is a requirement for this to work. I’m reaching out to Level and they’re telling me someone will get back to me. Will report back if I get a plausible answer.
Don't buy the Touch edition if you want to use Apple Home Key. It does not support Apple home key at all now. Level updated their firmware as Rey G mentioned.
Level giveth and Level taketh away. Mine still works since I deleted the native app and refuse to update the firmware further. No other reason to not offer the firmware again other than they don’t want to cannibalize Plus sales. Disappointing.
