with the " . . Shane Wright and a 1st" tagline in mind and being brought up a few times, a cool question for the bonus round in a future quiz could be something along the lines of how many players can you name in 30 seconds that have been traded for a 1st round pick. .
Oh damn, that’s my bad. Totally misread that! Yeah that makes that trade impossible unless Buffalo can keep winning on this west coast swing and really show they’re taking a step forward towards challenging for the playoffs (and even then…)
Here is a crazy trade. Anaheim aquire: Trouba Brennan othman 3rd pick Rangers aquire: Gudas Vitrano Im a ranger fan, obviously dont think this would happen during the season. More of a summer trade. But i think this could be benificial for both partys. Ducks get a solid defenceman who is a leader. Cen help on and off the rink. Plus a decent prospect and a third pick. Rangers would get a solid defenceman with better salary, and familiar face to fill that 1st line right wing spot with zibinijad and kreider.
Think gudas says no tbh he turned down contenders to sign in Anaheim in the first place because he wants to play in a market that isn’t 24/7 plus now he’s captain makes it even more unlikely
Would've liked to see some goalie mock trades too! As a Ducks fan, I'm curious if they can end up moving Gibson to a desperate team. Gibby has played well and has started 3-0 this season.
MORE than reasonable. It’s ridiculous that the “flames gm” said no. Definitely just didn’t know who salamonson was. Trust me. That’s a huge return for anderson and if u get that for him that’s insane
The price for Nelson to go to Minnesota might not be super high if he plans on signing there infree agency in the summer. He has a 16 team no trade so if he really wants to go there, he can block the other teams in the market for him.
Trade ideas To Tor: Brock Nelson (50%) Retained To NYI: Calle Jarnkrok, Nick Robertson, Topi Niemela,2025 3rd pick becomes 2nd if leafs make conference finals Seems like a overpay but with islanders lack of cap and leafs needing a 2LW/3C I think it is a fair deal
TRADE PROPOSAL: WILD - SENATORS - MIN receives: Drake Batherson ($750k retained) - OTT receives: Freddy Gaudreau, Jon Merrill, Rasmus Kumpulainen, 2025 First, 2027 third (conditioned = becomes 2027 second if Batherson resigns with the Wild before the 2027 NHL Draft) For MIN, the Wild need scoring and a right handed shot. Their current top 6 contains a lack luster Marcus Johnasson and with Zuccy missing it is you can feel a void that only Boldy and Kaprizov can fill right now. The Wild have a tight cap situation this season, thus the gymnastics required above. However, as mentioned their cupboard of young players is deep and should fill in for having to give up potentially 2 firsts. For OTT, assuming their trajectory remains on a path to miss the playoffs, Batherson seems to be the most valuable piece that can be moved for OTT. In return, Freddy and Merrill are simply put in because Johansson has a NMC, and these two players make sure that OTT does not need to up to 2 million in salary on Batherson for 2.5yrs. Obviously the picks are not only for the value of the player but includes the value money: Batherson's excellent contract, OTT taking on 750k in salary retained, and (while useable) Gaudreau's longer term contract. Kumpulainen was a 2nd rounder for the Wild in 2023 and is developing into a solid, 6'4" two way center prospect who already has 10 points in Liiga. With Batherson, Ek, Rossi, Khustnidinov, and Hartman the Wild can afford to ship out center depth in return for a point scorer who can help them now. Overall, a trade where the Wild add a top 6 player to help them now with OTT dumping a solid player to recoup picks and a quality middle 6 center prospect that should be ready to make the team in the next 2-3 years. Also, the cap space works for the Wild, leaving them at a scary ~250k.
The trade to finally help him win that elusive Cup that he should have won in 2022 with that Avs. To Ottawa - 2026 1st round pick (Top 10 protected, slides to 2027 if Colorado is in the top 10 picks), Jake Fisher and a 2025 2nd round pick. To Colorado - Claude Giroux Colorado is hurting for forward depth and can use a known playoff performer and Ottawa is hoping the Avs get worse in the next few years and can have a top pick to add to their team.
Blackhawks-Sabers trade: Yeah, sure, why not. From the Blackhawks perspective, it's another relatively high draft pick. They don't have a 3rd going into this upcoming draft. Either draft to replenish the minors that are about to be raided for the next gen core or trade a few of the extra picks for a big name down the road. They need to do something with Bedard, and this deadline/offseason might be the time to start loading up. Also frees up a spot to bring up someone like a Nazar or Slaggert for more NHL time if wanted.
Being a Bruins fan, I want to see the team get back into a divisional spot in the standings and make a hopeful push this year. SJS receives: MIN 2025 1st round pick MIN 2025 3nd round pick -- 2nd if MIN reaches SCF Yakov Trenin (from Minnesota) Jon Merrill (from Minnesota) CBJ receives: MIN 2026 2nd round pick SJS 2026 4th round pick 50% retention on Walman (UFA 26/27) 50% retention on Granlund (UFA next year) The Wild pay a premium to make a deep playoff run. They already have high end prospects in the system (Rossi, Faber, Buium, Wallstedt) and they have the depth to make a run now. The dead cap from Parise/Suter buyouts are greatly reduced next year and can afford to re-sign Granlund and take on Walman's 50% retained cap next year (along with giving Kaprizov a raise). The Sharks receive a 2025 1st, 2025 2nd this season from the Wild. Blue Jackets receive a 2026 2nd from the Wild, and a 4th round pick from San Jose. Sharks don't have any cap retention slots left so CBJ is compensated with a 4th for helping make this trade happen. CBJ weaponizes their cap space to facilitate this trades and retains 50% of Granlund's salary this year, 50% for Walman this year and next.
@@jonmendelson1104 San Jose. Edit: realizing now that San Jose would be slightly over the cap if they retain 50% on both, so this deal will have to go through after they've traded Blackwood and/or Vanecek.

As a Pens fan, I don't love that Pettersson trade. I'm kind of in aggreement with Jesse that you can probably get a first for him. But I'm fine with the second if you're getting more "real" prospects. Getting two young guys that haven't been good in the pros is just not a good return. I tend to agree the first and Turcotte or the second and Akil Thomas makes a bit more sense. There has to be a centerpiece to beat your chest over if you're Dubas, the first can be that or Thomas can be that, but nothing in the submitted trade moves the needle like that.

I think the bruins will sneak into the playoffs but even then adding granlund is probably not going to make the difference between a cup and a 1st round or 2nd (if they play the leafs in the 1st) round exit. He isn’t worth the first to them but as a sharks fan I’d be happy if Grier made that trade happen
@ idk the flyers brass seem not to like the guy and he is scratched a ton. A lot of teams won’t want to overpay for him Espically since he hasn’t played tons over the last couple of years or consistently enough. But I do see where your coming from as he was a former first round pick and is young
In all my 26 years of life, 20 of them watching the bruins, I’ve never seen such a disconnected, underperforming, disappointing start. I know everyone’s hard on us B’s fans for reacting so harshly but like… we really haven’t seen this happen in decades 😂. All we have to hold onto rn is the idea that we always seem to find a way.
Montréal has an expiring contract in David Savard, and a promising young defensemen in Logan Mailloux, so with that in mind, they could probably get more at the deadline, but Savard to Winnipeg to really help reinforce that blue line for a deep playoff push for a 1st round pick and possibly a 4th round pick with it
Get him back home to Alberta. Oilers would gain a much more usable and experienced middle 6 guy for cheap money and he would probably return for cheap to make his name true in the Oil.
The trade is 1 for 1: Mason McTavish for Brady Tkachuk. There were whispers OTT has loved MacT since the draft when he played there in juniors and Marc Methot just stated that he thinks a changeup in the core is coming soon. No world that it’s Timmy or Sanderson and Chabot has the NTC and his contract is arguably net negative. So it has to be Brady or Norris (who is playing well right now) if you believe they eventually have to make a change. McTavish has captain written all over him and has won at every level so far as the captain of his team. I don’t think Canadians need to be sold on how good he is stats wise and intangibles wise. Has had two decent seasons in the NHL and is the closest younger generation equivalent to Brady other than maybe Ryan Leonard. You can lock him up for 8 years next season compared to Brady’s 3 years remaining. Drafted 3rd overall vs 4th overall. The only reason McTavish would be on the table is his concerning start to this season and the barrage of penalties he takes. OTT could lose if Brady does what Matthew did and becomes a playoff monster with the rest of the Ducks young core. ANA could lose if McTavish eventually becomes Ottawa’s 1C/captain and Brady walks in UFA in 3 years. Who says no?
Marcus Petterson doesn't fit into the Kings system as long as Mikey, Gavrikov, and Edmundson are together. If Edmundson gets hurt (which there is enough history of), then there is reason to think about it.
17:36 This trade would make no sense for Pittsburgh, even if the proposed return is that unrealistically generous. Pittsburgh's biggest problem this year is DEFENSE, and Petterson is neither first nor second in line of their biggest defensive liabilities! So you're gonna ship their best stay-at-home defensemen out for offensive players with no replacement, and force them to reach further down the bottom of the empty barrel of defensive prospects??? Why/how would that make sense?

As a Caps fan no on the Taylor Hall trade. He doesn't slot in better than anyone in their lineup right now. He'd be a scratch
Trent Frederic for a 2025 Washington Capitals 2nd
That Granlund trade seems desperate and short-sighted, so of course Don Sweeney would do it.
with the broken leg missing a month or a month in a half if ovi still can break the record this year it would be at the end of the year
The Jets and preds trade
The Jets trade Chaz Lucius, a 2026 2nd round pick and Alex Iafallo for Ryan O’Reilly
