I'll probably get bashed for defending him but just know I never voted for the guy... Bama had nothing to do with the emissions stuff on this bike. The EPA created those regulations long before he got into office and were gradually put into effect over several administrations, Republican and Democrat. Not to mention that the trump administration didn't do anything that would cause Honda to remove emissions equipment anyway, governments all over the world are now requiring this stuff, and EPA is still requiring it. Manufacturers will continue to build vehicles with emissions equipment like they have since the 70s and people will continue to remove it lol, although people will also continue to scapegoat politicians they don't like for all sorts of reasons as well.
Yea that stalling really pisses me off to, it’s Eff’n embarrassing at red lights. I ordered a full fmf system with a JD jetting efi controller I’m hoping that fixes it, from what I’ve seen online it does.
Did all this to my X and made a huge difference, but honestly dont see the need to remove the oil catch. You can hardly see it because its tucked up high.
That bike would not have any of the idle issues if they weren't required to have emissions. I bet without the emissions you can increase oil changes with full synthetic and a good filter when not running it to the ragged edge all the time to every 1000 miles or more. I'm buying one when I turn 18 to build credit; I am sure Honda will figure out the idle issues and any other issues. They are not a red ktm like some say. A pricetag and service intervals don't make it equal to those messes. Nice bikes, unreliable af. The first top end on the 450l is due at 20k, try getting that with a ktm. (Yes I love Hondas bikes they're ridiculously reliable, and don't get me started on emissions regulations 😠)
I had no idle issues with my 2020 at 6300 ft elevation. Never had a single stall But, I HATED THE TWITCHY THROTTLE, so I put a Vortex ECU in it anyway. Throttle is now smooth.
Only time i have stalling probs is if im coming to a stop and i just coast with the clutch pulled in it will stall but other then that never have a a problem
I can confirm the stalling/flameouts stop after the first 1000 miles. The jerky first 1/8th of the throttle gets significantly better after turning the idle up to 1900 (still in manufacturer spec). I suggest properly breaking in the bike before you decide you're not happy with how it runs. It's not broken in yet! I have 2000 miles on mine, runs much better than it did before the first oil change.
I have 1100 miles now and it still needed the vortex to not stall stupid easy. The idle issue is mostly the dealer setting the idle low... But a 450 that's street legal should not require the idle set to 2000 rpms not to stall. Get a Yoshi and a vortex and then tell me it ran right stock lol
@@MudPuppyOffroad just sharing my experience, seems like your stalling problems were much worse than what I had. Only happened aroumd 6-7 times total for me. I am aware of the service intervals as I've done all the work myself. I'm saying my bike started to "feel" broken in around 1000. My valves were still dead on with the manual at 1800 miles.
100% depends on your dealer. I however would never let a dealer ship touch my bike... Most of those guys don't give a shit. You could easily put it back on
@@MudPuppyOffroad Agreed! Riding a dirt bike is far more difficult than doing mechanic work on a dirt bike. Get yourself a service manual and a good torque wrench and you should be able to do a complete rebuild on this bike if I gave you a box of parts.
Maybe engine idle is set to low causing flame out.The little clear can kept crap from getting sucked into to the intake. The pvc you plumbed into the intake is dead air, no oxygen in it.There is no hp penalty from the air injection system, air helps the cat burn the unburnt fuel.
Also thanks for the lecture but we all know how air injection works it's a neat idea if you have a cat and you give a s*** about emissions both of which do not apply to me.
Hey, i bought a new 450l yesterday:) a honda engineer mentioned that running 101, or 103 "better" will help or cure the stalling issues. that is controversial because good fuel is not always available in the US. I will care a small bottle of booster with me for my fuel. Hell, I have to do that with my DRZ 400 now, and it makes a noticeable difference. I'll let you know.
Do you live near Croom? I have been wanting to go, but didn't know anyone to go with and didn't want to go alone. I have a WR-250R, but have been tempted to change over to this bike since Yamaha doesn't want to make a WR-450R.
People keep saying they stall but they don't say how or why is a stalling because you're letting your clutch out too fast not enough for gas why and how is it stalling
@@MudPuppyOffroad Sorry mate, didn't mean to offend. But I have to agree with many of the other responses on here, the video is so fast moving and jerky, trembling. Again, didnt mean for you to get so easily triggered. Obama crap is hilarious. So true.
My idle was set pretty low when I got it like 1450 however having to set the idle on a street-legal bike at 1800 to 1900 RPMs to get it to not stall is pretty pathetic it makes clutch work a very annoying in technical stuff in trails. this is a common issue that Honda needs to address especially on a street legal machine. even with my idle set at 1800 which is the speck in the manual I have had it stall out twice just rolling to a stop clutch in
Unfortunately, there's no convenient way to do that on RUclips other than tagging videos into playlist. But from what I gather talking to my subscribers, no one really looks at playlist tags anyway

Yes, just different ECU mapping. Less stalling and a little bit richer A/F ratios since the X is not meant for street use and has no Cat converter in the exhaust. After 1000 miles on my X, throttle is still a little twitchy but much better than when new. I never got a vortex but went with a throttle tamer and a flywheel weight which made it really smooth and tractor like for tight trails. Converted mine to be street legal as well. I did remove the evap canister and hoses since my gas cap check valve fell off and was $150 to replace or the whole bike had to go to the dealer for a warranty claim. No thanks. Hence why I was watching this video, was concerned I'd get a check engine light.
I mean I guess if you think oil mist generates more power than crankcase gas, sure. I woulda just stuck a little filter at the end of the breather and let it drip.
