We recommend a swing-away heat press from Geo Knight. Go with a press that can handle an 11"x17" sheet or larger. As far as a printer, most ink-jets will work with Neenah Jet-Pro Soft Stretch. However, make sure it has separate color cartridges for a lower cost of operation.

On my first tried ever with soft stretch. Epic failed the ink fuzzed out and not releasing all the ink😣. Let me give it another try. It was pressed at med/heavy at 375 for 30 sec.
@Ethan Kutik: Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch is considered a commercial-grade ink-jet transfer paper for the digital decorating industry. Condé Systems tested this paper on 100% cotton garment through 25 hot wash / hot dryer cycles, and the image quality would be considered consistent with other printing methods. That being said, a garment printed with Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch will eventually fade, due to repeated washing / drying or the breakdown of the material. Given that materials, washing detergents and water conditions will always play a factor in durability, we highly recommend that you perform your own testing with this product.
I use this paper since 2 years and it's the very easy and usefull product that I tried ! I printed with Epson R280 and Artisan 800, Canon MP730 and MP830 without any problem .... great product !

Doesn't the white from the edges of the paper transfer onto the shirt? So are there white lines around the image with this paper?

Hello, why is that with the Neenah paper I transfer onto white shirts and I can still see the boarder where I cut around the image show on the white shirts also in the boarder it leaves a yellow stain only inside the boarder of the image I cut around.

Didn't know we couldn't use a hand iron on this product. Purchased on eBay, never mentioned, though It Does Work ! Takes some patience but does work.

Condé Systems supplies three (3) Ink Jet Opaque materials for transferring images to dark garments and fabrics. We supply Neenah Jet Opaque II and Neenah 3G Jet Opaque, as well as our own Condé brand, JetMprints Opaque. These transfer materials should be used with 100% cotton shirts.
This was probably because the shirt was not washed and dried before wearing. Remember, you have a liquid ink in the emulsion layer that needs to be set with detergent first. Whats a good printer to use with this paper?
Neenah Jet-Pro Soft Stretch will deposit a "solid emulsion film" on your garment. This product is not self-weeding. If used on a white cotton or cotton/poly blend garment, the emulsion film is barely noticeable. However, if you are using this product with light-colored garments, we recommend trimming the excess paper around your design before you apply it to your garment. This will help reduce the "emulsion halo" normally associated with solid film transfer papers.
After the removal of the transfer should there still be residue on the backing paper? There are still residue left on the backing paper how do I eliminate this issue?

I have used the JPSS a few times some times when I press it part of the design will not come off the paper not sure if it's to hot or not hot enough I press at 380
This is usually a symptom of "aged" or defective paper. If your pack of JPSS is older than 18 months, then you probably need to replace with a fresh pack. If the pack is a recent purchase, then contact your vendor.
The problem may not be the paper, but possibly your heat press.The symptoms you describe are caused by too much heat from your press. I would recommend that you test the platen temperature of your heat press with a good thermometer. Also, you can try lowering the temperature of your press by 10-20 degrees (F) on your next press attempt. Other factors that can cause "yellow" include: sizing agents within the fabric material, excess moisture within the transfer paper or the age of the paper.
Dear Leticia Goode: Usual symptoms of image cracking with an ink-jet transfer are: (1) The paper is more than 12 months old, (2) Paper was applied to garment with too much heat and/or pressure, (3) Chemical sizing agent in the garment. We would advise trying a different brand shirt than the one that cracked. If you get a better result, then change shirt brands. Otherwise, double-check your press settings or order "fresh" paper.

At the moment, I am not aware of self-weeding transfer paper for Ink-Jet printers. If you are using an Ink-Jet Printer to produce transfers, the only method of eliminating "background" emulsion is either hand cut the design or use a cold-peel ink-jet transfer paper with an optical vinyl cutter. Using the cutter to trim around the design will allow you to weed away the excess emulsion.
mark yamashiro Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch is a "solid film" emulsion transfer paper. Therefore, if you do not cover the emulsion with ink or trim the excess away, you may see the film layer when the transfer is applied. However, this film layer look should disipate after a few washes. As far as the yellow discoloration, it may be due to (1) press temperature it too high or press is running hot, (2) too much pressure is applied to the emulsion, (3) undertone color in the image itself or (4) using a garment that has a chemical treatment or sizing agent.

Will this paper have the extra polymer on the side of the art? And which one should i get to print on dark garments? I want to print on all color shirts but i am not sure what to buy. And do i have to send the paper thru a cutter to remove extra polymer or the printed area only will be on

Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch is a "solid film" emulsion transfer paper. This means that you will have excess film around your artwork unless you trim the paper before application. If you need an ink-jet transfer paper for dark garments, please take a look at the Neenah Jet-Opaque II or 3G Jet-Opaque products. Usually, ink-jet transfer paper differ by those designed to image white or light-colored garments and those designed to image dark garments. If you plan to use an optical cutter, please note that only opaque materials for dark garments can be cut and weeded.
Should I use this or the Jet Opaque II for a khaki colored shirt?
Also, a seller on Amazon says this can be used with regular iron but you said a heat press only, any thoughts?
This is tough to answer, but it will depend on the image used and the "darkness" of the khaki material. Generally speaking, if the image you are applying is lighter (in any area) that the garment you are pressing, then an opaque material should be used. If your image is darker (black image on khaki), then a standard ink-jet transfer paper for white and light-colored shirts may work. While Jet-Opaque II can be applied with a hand-held iron, it takes much longer to apply. Also, you may not be able to apply the Jet-Opaque II evenly with a hand iron, which is why we recommend a commercial heat press.
We carry a variety of Color Laser Transfer Papers that should operate in the C810 color laser printer. To feed transfer paper through this unit, we recommend that you feed the paper from the Multi-Purpose Tray and set the "Media Weight" for your OKI to "Labels-2". If you visit our company website (conde com), look for "Non-Oil Color Laser Transfer Paper". It must be a non-oil paper for the OKI C810. Also, contact our company and arrange to have samples sent so you can test them.
Does SofStretch work on a Orange T shirt?
Sir Good day, I am just starting heatpress business here in the Philippines and i wonder why theres a big difference between the temperature settings here in the Philippines and you're settings there, as i watching you're demo you recommend about 375 degrees farenheit for 30 seconds but many suppliers here recommended temperature is 180 degrees farenheit for about 20 seconds, 375 is far to reach it takes you times to reach such temperature , we are using neenah transfer paper here , pls answer
I'm new to using this product. I have an order due in a few days that I have to put pictures on. I ordered both JET-PRO SofStretch and Jet-Opaque. I tried out the Jet Opaque a few days ago on a blue shirt. I really don't love the thickness of it. The order I have now is going on grey shirts. Will the Jet Pro sofstretch work on grey? I wasn't sure how dark of a shirt it would work on. Thanks in advance. By the way great job with the video.

I printed 2 pictures on the same sheet of paper. Do I need to trim the extra around the picture or will it matter. Not sure if just the ink transfers or what?

You should be able to use it. Please let us know if you have less than stellar results.
How do prevent cracking on the shirt after the heat-pressing process? Mine was heat pressed by a professional brand with the right temperature and pressure, but it had extensive cracking after one wash (inside-out cold wash). Is it caused by the inkjet printer (mine is hp brand) or the shirt material quality (100% cotton)?
Cracking after one wash is usually caused by (1) pressing the transfer at too high of a temperature, (2) liquid fabric softener used in the wash cycle, or (3) using a shirt with a "chemical sizing agent". If the transfer was press at 375-F and no fabric softener was used, then try a transfer on a different brand shirt.
Im having a problem with the softstrech paper. Idk if its the ink or what but i try to adjust the pressure some yellow ink is still on the paper when i peel it. I use the instructions but still have color changes and not all ink going through the shirt, Still having yellow ink on the paper even when theres no yellow ink in the picture,, I was wondering if you can help me with this.. With ink-jet transfers, you may still have some "residual ink" left on the backing sheet after you transfer your design. As long as the quality of the design is not compromised, you should still be fine. That said, increasing pressure applied usually allows more ink to transfer to the shirt and not appear on your backing sheet. Make sure you do not apply too much pressure (above 100psi) or heat (above 375-F) to the JetPro Soft Stretch transfer paper. Excess heat or pressure may cause the ink to "bleed out" of the transfer after your first wash cycle. Please see our video "
hi, i read that a 50/50 blend works better with the jpss than 100% cotton. that it would be less likely to crack. is there any truth to that? and is there any pro's and con's of each shirt type? thanks!
Typically speaking, a "blend" shirt will keep a transfer image longer than a 100% cotton shirt. Cotton shirts will break down faster in the wash/dryer cycle than blended shirts. Therefore, if the material hold up longer, then the transfer image holds up longer. When it comes to dark garments, you have to use a 100% cotton (most cases) because of possible dye migration from blend shirts into opaque materials. I am looking to use this on a Cheer Bow. Tried it today on a spandex piece that was already "heat n bonded' to a grosgrain ribbon. Any tips on making this actually work instead of what I did...?
+Kerry Matthews Since most "Cheer Bows" are made of polyester or other synthetic fabrics, Neenah Jet-Pro SoftStretch should not be your first choice. You want to try Neenah Jet-Pro ActiveWear, which is a transfer paper designed to transfer to 100% polyester fabrics. Also, many Condé clients have been successful using ink-jet sublimation printing to decorate Cheer Bows. Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch is compatible with dye, pigment, solvent, eco-solvent and water-based inks. Your Epson ink should be fine. Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch was designed to work with 100% cotton and cotton-poly blends. It can work with polyester garments, but it may be difficult to remove the backing sheet from the fabric. We would suggest ink-jet sublimation to decorate 100% polyester garments.
We have a Roland VersaCamm Printer/Cutter with white ink. Would this paper work for transferring to black shirts with white ink? The reason I ask is because the hand on the Jet-Pro light garment paper is so much better than the dark garment process.
Tough question to answer. In order to use the JetPro Soft Stretch on Gark garments, you would have to print your colors first, then have your Roland print white over the color. When you lay the transfer on the garment, the white would be against the garment, acting as the opaque layer. Personally, I would think that the white and color ink would mix in the emulsion layer and not create the desired effect. If you are only intending to print a white graphic to a dark garment, and you only use white ink from your Roland, then that may work. At that point, it would depend on the opacity of your white ink.
Oh yeah one more question. Customers are asking how long it holds up in washing. Does the ink wash away. Can you give me any info on this please. Thanks.

Hi Sir,im just a newbie in the business..i just have a concern using jet pro ss.. as i finish heat transfer, the image seems to have a lighter effect or faded look in the print..and also produces a rough surface and peeling off some of the fabric..i hope u can help..thanks in advance.
1) The "faded look" may be due to the age of the paper. Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch usually has a shelf life of 12-18 months. (2) If you are getting a rough feel after peeling, then cover the design on the shirt with a silicone or teflon sheet and reheat the shirt for 10-15 seconds. The "extra press" with silicone or teflon will smooth out the design. Also, after pressing, you can gently stretch the design to give it a softer feel.
Which shirt brands would you recommend to print shirts on?
Neothunder16 Neenah Jet Pro Soft Stretch can be applied to white and light-colored fabrics that are 100% cotton or a cotton/poly blend up to 50/50. We usually recommend Fruit of the Loom, Hanes or Jerzees shirts. You want to avoid 100% cotton shirts that contain a "chemical sizing agent". Ask you shirt supplier before you order.

After we peel it, there is sometimes a film on sections of the image? Is that supposed to be there or how can we prevent that from happening? Thanks so much!!!
Neenah JET-PRO® SofStretch™ Heat Transfer Paper is a "solid emulsion film" transfer paper. Therefore, there will be a film where the paper was pressed to the garment. For best results, trim away excess film before applying your design to your white or light-color garment.
Thank you for replying! The film is actually on the image itself but not the entire image. I have a photo of it but I don't know how to attach it to this message. We trim the paper so just the image transfers but once we hot peel it, there is film left on parts of the image but not the whole image. Not sure if there should be a film or not? Or why only a section of the image has it? Thanks so much!!!!

While we cannot recommend specific brands, any printer using a dye, pigment, solvent or eco-solvent inks will deliver the best durability.
if our tshirts are grey, what transfer paper should we use. for color or white??
Depends on the shade of gray and the graphic. If you are referring to "ash gray" or "athletic gray" and the design is darker than the shirt, then you can use a transfer paper for white / light-color fabrics. If the shirt is darker than ash gray, or any area of the design is lighter than the color of the shirt, then use an opaque material instead.
how high quality are these graphics? do they fade after washes?

Hi i have just got some neenah jet-pro ss transfer and I'm looking to copy an image onto the paper, i watched your video and see that you said to select plain paper but i have a brother inkjet printer and in the settings it asked me what type of paper I'm printing on. It has plain paper, inkjet paper and a few others that don't apply. Should i select inkjet or plain paper.

Korriejade Baker It will depend on the image resolution (dpi) of these settings. Do not attempt to print at a resolution higher than 720dpi. We recommend selecting plain paper first. When the sheet of Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch exits the printer, make sure the ink is not wet or puddling on the surface. Also, check for "cockling", which is paper curling due to over saturation with ink. If you see these issues with your Brother in plain paper mode, then try the ink-jet paper mode. Remember, when it comes to ink-jet transfers, a little ink goes a long way!

Do the rolls have the gridding as well?
No, the "roll versions" of Neenah Jet Pro Soft Stretch do not have the grid mark on the backing sheet. However, Neenah has the printing side of Jet Pro Soft Stretch wound to the outside of the roll. Therefore, when you load the paper into your wide format printer, you will be printing to the coated side of the paper.
Are you sure that's not 180 Celsius? because that converts to 356 Fahrenheit.

.......................Only if the graphic you are printing is darker than the heather gray. If any area of your design is lighter than heather gray, then you will need to use an ink-jet opaque material to decorate.

+Suresh Bhuj Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch requires at least 350(F) / 175(C) in order to apply. Recommended temperature is 375(F) / 190(C). This is why we say it requires a commercial heat press in order to use this product.
This is like asking "Can I use a VW Beetle to haul dirt?" Technically speaking, yes you can. Is it the best solution? No, it is not. You can use sublimation inks with Neenah Jet Pro Soft Stretch, and transfer the image to cotton fabric, but the results will be the same as if using regular ink. You will not get any extra color vibrancy or durability by using sublimation inks. You only run the risk of "glazing" the emulsion of the paper while using a more expensive ink in your production process.
JetPro Soft Stretch should not leave a white edge around the design when applied to a white or light color garment. With Neenah ImageClip LaserDark or Koncert-T paper, "white edges" is a symptom of applying too much pressure. The transfer sheet is indenting the imaging sheet, causing white emulsion base to leak into this outline. Slightly reduce your pressure, cut the imaging sheet inside of the indention mark or scrape the edges away before you apply the imaging sheet to the garment.
If you are using an Ink-Jet printer and need to image a dark garment, we recommend Neenah Jet-Opaque II or Neenah 3G Jet-Opaque. These are 'solid-film" white-emulsion transfers designed to create an image to apply to a bright-colored or dark garment. I have made 3 shirts with this paper , when I peeled the paper off all of the images transfered. After the first wash in cold water , all but one cracked. The one that didnt crack I waited 3 days before I washed it. The other ones about a day. I am not sure what the problem is? The only other thing I can think of is the ink setting when I print I did 2 on best photo and one on regular print . Please help me
"Cracking" of the transfer after one wash can usually be attributed to (1) JetPro Soft Stretch that is older than 12 months, (2) overheating the transfer or using too much pressure or (3) a chemical sizing agent in the garment. If the name brand of the shirts that cracked begin with a "G", then my initial guess would be the shirts themselves.

Michelle High Usually, when a transfer "cracks" after one wash, it is due to a chemical sizing agent in the garment. This symptom is common with GILDEN brand shirts. Also, cracking may be due to a liquid fabric softener in the wash cycle. Make sure to tell your clients not to use a liquid fabric softener.

Hello, I used this paper and though my image has no background while transferred to a white t shirt, I could notice the area where I peeled the paper out has some kind of a border. Is this normal?

If you are using "standard ink" for your printer and your colors are off on plain paper, then you may want to check your color management settings in your graphic software or in your driver settings. If you are just having these issue just with Neenah JetPro SoftStretch paper, then make sure your paper is fresh and has not been exposed to heat or moisture.
how do i know if i have a wide format printer?
Normally, a "Wide Format" printer will print 24" across or bigger. Also, they are capable of printing roll media instead of cut-sheet media. You can contact Condé with the make and model of your printer if you have any further questions.
With this heat transfer paper, are the untrimmed borders solid white or transparent?
The untrimmed emulsion will be transparent. However, these areas will be more prevalent when you are printing to a light-colored fabric as opposed to white fabric material.
I have a quetion then, I used this exact paper(It said Jet pro SS on the backing sheet.) but it left a solid white border on the shirt after pressing. Why did this happen?

I have no idea what im doing wrong. Its driving me crazy. Every time i make a transfer i can see the film and the outline around the design. It looks bad. What can i do to make that film disappear?????? Im using the right temp 375 and press time 25-30 sec. T-shirts are 100% cotton. Losing my mind here, need some help. Bought this paper from amazon by world paper. You say peel when hot, but instruction paper says peel when cold. Which one is it? When i peel hot, the image comes out cracked. and when i peel cold the dam film is their. Whats with this?
Neenah Jet-Pro Soft Stretch is a solid-film emulsion transfer paper. It is not a self-weeding paper. Therefore, if you want to eliminate the excess film, you have to cut the design from the paper. Also, the instructions from Neenah Paper say to peel the backing sheet while hot. If you image is cracking when you peel hot, you may be using too much pressure, the paper itself may be old, or you are using a shirt that has a chemical sizing agent. Conde Sublimation, I NEED HELP!. I currently using this Jet Pro SS as my Transfer Paper for White Shirt. But how come after i press my design to the Shirt there's a White Background?? Im using Pigment Inks. I set up my heat press 190°C then 30sec with heavy pressure. I used Shirt with 60% Cotton 40% Polyester during Press and i'm using Stahls Heat Press. Hope you reply. Thanks.

I am having the same problem: the white left on the light garment (athletic gray, 50/50 blend) is not coming off after washes. Actually after washes, the white is showing up even more than right after I peeled it.
I hot peel, 180C, 30 sec on a heat press.

Melanie Saucier Remember, the "white" you are seeing is the excess film from the transfer. Neenah JetPro Soft Stretch deposits a solid film when you transfer to your garment. For light-colored garments, you may want to cut away the excess paper before you transfer the image. Also, you may want to increase your temperature to 190-C (375-F) to make sure the emulsion film settles into the fabric. If you have a color laser printer, you could use a self-weeding paper to eliminate the need to cut your transfer. However, ink-jet transfers should be trimmed to reduce the excess emulsion.
***** Thank you for your reply. I do understand what's left on the shirts. And while I got your reply, I did various tests on the messed up shirt with different temperatures and times. 190C indeed worked best.
What tickles my mind is that I remember using a similar product 2 years ago; the excess emulsion wasn't easy to see on the shirts, but mostly it was going away on the first wash. As of now, with my batch of JetPro SS, this means I can't use it for designs that have letters; the cutting would indeed require a cameo, first (I use an inkjet), but then even, putting the cut letters back together on the shirts properly...even though I use tape, this is just not going to happen. I was really hoping after a wash, the excess would go away and the print would get a softer feel.
It's like the emulsion is really too good and really stick to the shirt ;)
