I'm Haitian. What a lot of Foreign journalists seem to fail to ask in their reporting is this: Who are sending those military guns? Those gang members have the latest weapon in their hands and most don't even know the names of those properly. There was a video circulating last year where one of the gang leader (now dead) was asking another the name of the gun he was holding. IT WAS AK-47. Yes, we have corrupted leaders but please, those guns are being shipped directly from US borders/boats. Why can't they investigate that? Most of the Caribbean countries suffering from gang violence DO NOT PRODUCE THOSE HEAVY MACHINERIES. One last thing I will add, since the last three weeks, most of the citizens have taken their own justice by killing a few of those gang members. Some neighborhoods haven't heard a single gunshot for weeks now. If Haiti has true allies, the situation can be reversed and controlled for the greater good.

No, there is a divide on whether they need help or not. Countries aren't always monolithic in thinking. Some people fear if they are helped that the help might exploit them and others are wanting help because what other options they have.

I don't understand the concept of united nations. I find their body or organisation as a flaux. Blaming guns is like treating the symptoms of the problem and not the problem itself. That is an all too popular way of thinking nowadays. It is also a way to preserve the status quo via distraction and via the delay of properly focused public outrage. There are interested parties within and without Haiti, which have placed stock in the status quo. Blaming guns is distracting from the real reasons behind it.

Haiti has a history of having problems that get so severe that there is international interference. When the problems cannot be fully corrected the interventions are called meddling. The west should let Haiti sort itself out with only the most basic aid. They cycle must be broken. Emigration is also not the solution with 15% of Haitians living in the US and Canada. They must build their country.
They can't function on their own so they have to leech off of other races. It's that simple. Stop beating around the bush.

Haiti has a history of being forced to pay repetitions to European countries which bankrupted the country until the late 1900s.
The solution is paying Haiti back the money that was extorted at gunpoint until living memory.

I have been visiting Haiti now every four months now. The lady seem to be the only one who shows an ounce of care for the people.
Haiti is a lost cause. Any monetary aid will disappear into the pockets of the leaders, official or otherwise. Donations of food will need to be distributed by the donors else they too will disappear. The Haiti people will need to help themselves before anyone will help them.
No country wants to help because they know the politicians of Haiti are corrupt, so would you risk the lives of your soldiers or spend billions to assist a country that will simply take money and not care of the people of Haiti. It’s happened time and time again.

Haiti was a sad place when I was there back in the mid to late 90s. The people I interacted with were very nice…but they don’t seem able to band together to fix their problems.
