5:50 The AI only bothered to talk like Yoda for the first four sentences and then it just talked normally while making Star Wars references. It's nice to know that even the AIs are lazy.
The pirate didn't even bother to speak in the "pirate slang".
nerd
@@idioticcharacter6392 I think the Yoda thing is more egregious precisely because the AI initially talked in Yodo speak though. With the pirate, you could argue that it means the AI just didn't know what pirate slang even was so it just talked normally because it didn't know what else to do. But with Yoda, it proved that it knew how to talk like Yoda, it just couldn't be bothered to do it for long even though that's what it was tasked to do.
@@ArcticcReal Yeah because you need a phd to know how Yoda talks

not to mention the whole shift away from explaining things with food
He's now in his era of solving problems everyone has. Or trying to.
That's because in videos like these, everyone has the problems he solves, like history-beard ransoming tilly to darth vader in exchange for 17 facts about colonialism
I'm glad he dropped some of the bell pepper stuff, I never got the point of that
i love how doug starts every unit by saying “okay, cool!” like he’s genuinely interested, only to be disappointed as he learns absolutely nothing
To be fair, History-chan and Historybeard-senpai both seemed very knowledgeable. He just cut off Historybeard before he explained anything and History-chan took a completely different exam with a completely different syllabus.
Yoda wasn't too bad either
I think he should have given Tili a chance
Oh, Doug, that poor sap. Starting each unit with an eager "okay, cool!" only to realize he's about to waste his time on something utterly useless. It's like watching a tragedy unfold in slow motion. How naive of him to expect any real substance or knowledge. But hey, at least he's consistent in his disappointment. Maybe one day he'll learn not to get his hopes up and save himself from the perpetual cycle of educational letdowns. Poor, poor Doug.

I legitimately starting clapping when ChatGPT waited, thought about it and finally said, 'Modernization', just seconds before Doug also started clapping. Truly, a moment in history.
The "without vowels" part, I asked ChatGPT to add the vowels back.
Turns out that when we read words, the beginning of words are really important. Like, "dvlpmnt" (development) is much more recognizable than "mprs" (empires) or "llwd" (allowed).
llwd certainly brings words to mind....
It’s also probably due to how you can try to read "dvlpmnt" as it is written and it still sounds like "development"

Tilly was my favorite character in industrial revolution anime. I love the episode when Avengers was fighting Thanos and then he met his wife and divorced.
i love how when doug said

Not a haiku. Haiku is not a 7-5-7 sentence, that's out of date and crap

I wasnt convinced of this until unit 3 where Doug realized it was a wash and would just make it up with the others. That is highly realistic and accurate.
“The Jedi traded with the Chinese”
"It's entirely possible that the Jedi were here all along... Jamie, pull up that video of Darth Vader building the great wall."

I'm glad that I am just slightly old enough to avoid that. I'm graduating college next year but I don't have many essays anymore. I couldn't imagine writing an essay then the teacher running it through an AI checker which falsely claims it was written by AI and foring me to rewrite it. Plagiarism checkers were bad enough but AI checkers are terrible. I feel bad for y'all
That's illegal, report it to the DoE
The fuck is the wheel and what would it have done to protect him, im assuming it’s a program
@@llacius2391 The theme wheel in the video Doug used to mix up the AI
The AI checkers people are using now are pretty damn accurate, plus the protocol in my area is to run it through two. Over 60% is failing, so I think it’s pretty generous :P
At the moment, chatgpt is absolutely not qualified to teach kids something. It often gets stuff mixed up or completely wrong, especially the less known it is. Like it gets the content of a book right but mixes up the chapters or it tells you something about a character but the actual character is the exact opposit of that. All things that happened to people I know (not me fr, I don´t cheat). One time chatgpt wrote a text in french for a girl I know but you noticed after the 2nd sentence that it wasn´t hers because the programm uses a complete other language than a student would. So kids, if you want to cheat or learn, don´t do it with ai, you´ll get a bad result!
Still works great for cover letters and pointless shit like that, you only have to edit the result to make it sound more natural at some points

Love you Doug thank you for this gem. The people at collegeboard would probably be mortified to see this. Can someone share this over there?
honestly, I'm a history teacher and I probably couldn't pass the AP world history exam right now lol. It's stupidly hard for no reason, my world history courses I had to take in college weren't that hard.
IMO, it sounds great that we're improving our standards and creating a bit more difficulty...But that's easy to say from here. What specifically makes it more difficult than it was in the past? typically, all you hear is how lax the expectations have gotten. Sounds interesting.
There's one reason it's hard now... So students will pay for College Board's learning resources
@@nolynste1926 That's... not how it works. The scores are curved. It could be the history equivalent of the Putnam, wouldn't affect anything
@@snickle1980 based off of the descriptions of the units alone, I would guess that the difficulty comes from having to remember facts about a ton of nations and societies spanning the entire globe over the course of like 1400 years and you only spend a little bit of time on each topic because of time constraints. As a disclaimer I'm a high schooler (not even one of the ones taking this test), so I don't know what happens in college courses or this AP, but I would imagine that this is the main cause of difficulty on the test.
The difficulty doesn't come from quality but quantity. It isn't that the topics or the teachers are forcing the students to think more deeply about both the subject and the world they live, but that they are piling greater amounts of work and content on the students and expecting them to know all of it by the end of the year.
(I cannot stress this enough, but this is just the hypothesis of a high schooler who only knows about the test and class content from this video and occasionally seeing a classmate's work for the class)
This is not the kind of difficulty that I would assume you are looking for in education, and if it is, I honestly think you should reconsider.
@@goggles8691 Exactly. As someone who was briefly in APUSH, the quantity for so little time is unreasonable. You gotta study like a medical student just to have a *chance.* It’s not educationally useful, it ain’t gonna get you any friends, and frankly it isn’t even intellectually stimulating. It’s just the normal rote memorization you’d find in normal high school classes cranked up to life-sacrificing extremes.

I watched this stream live and it was... an experience. Congratulations on passing the AP exam in Europe, Doug! Hopefully Oxford accepts you so that no one may ever fall afoul of History-Beard ever again...
Also, it was fun to follow along with this video and see what I could get ChatGPT to do myself with similar prompts! Let's just say I created some *interesting* stuff...
This was so cool to watch because im taking collage history for a core class in high school, this video made me feel extremely smart cause I know alot of this
Thank you Doug for helping me study for my ap world test with this insightful video!
Doug, thank you. I have a formal languages and automata theory exam today, and now I know that I can just read marvel fanfic and learn everything I need to know :) I was reading Sandman fanfic and watching DougDoug, so I’ve clearly been doing it all wrong
Doug is the only guy that could make watching someone study fun
I love how Doug visibly questions his life choices after every prompt he gets from the wheel
The fact that doug amd the A.I. are having a narrative battle, and whenever doug tries to make the cabin boy bring history beard senpai back onto the topic by asking again, history beard just ignores him and keeps going. Actual comedy gold
It's not like it's easier to pass in Europe. Questions are probably harder and different. Personally, I've experienced we tend to have pretty open ended questions where we describe the answers ourselves without any multiple choice, removing the chance of getting one randomly correct, meaning your 60% with random guesses is with equal questions easier than 50% without random guesses
Europe doesnn't have college entrance exams in most countries and AP Exams are approx 11th grade exams in Europe afaik.
Yeah you have to actually write that shit so if you dont know thats too bad, guess you’re getting a big fat zero
@@cooltwittertag wait this is an entrance exam? Why is there a 9 part curriculum for an entrance exam??
Bruh as a Muslim I literally died of laughter seeing him say that the most oldest text is the Quran lmao
my ap world history test is coming up and i cant help but thank doug for teaching me all these units, i completely missed how the mongols were just a metaphor for the dark side of the force in earth's canon. Thanks, doug!
Here at Tacoland I have my University exam on June 10th. And this has taught me with more U.S. history than anything I've studied so far (mainly bc I don't need U.S. story but NOW I KNOW).
Thanks Doug. It might come in handy.
Chat doesn't need A.I. to pass a college exam
We can easily pass by exams, they are surprisingly poor guards.
30:44 Doug, come on 😂 the intolerable acts
I was so frustrated 😭
