    I imported this a couple of months ago and have found it to be great for playing games in cinema mode, especially with the Steamdeck. Great FOV and colours.

    I've now tested a lot of glasses and I'm totally overwhelmed by the Goovis G3, and that's saying something when I say that to those who usually just complain...
    You absolutely have to test them. It's like you're in a real home cinema, the picture is way bigger and better than with any other glasses.
    Because of the OLED with 2K each, like when you sit in front of a 4K OLED TV, I have an LG here for comparison.
    The best picture I've seen in glasses, without distortion and with adjustable diopters and eye relief really TOP...
    You don't see a pixel, the colors and the brightness are a dream...
    Please do a test.....
    I ordered it on Indego and after 4 days it was already here....
    The only thing is the built in speakers are rubbish but that's in everyone's glasses so since they have a headphone jack it's not a problem.
    And the media player that can be included is also great.
    You can plug the glasses into anything PS5 Switch Steam Deck PC etc all in 2D or 3D...
    I'm still testing the quality of the 3D rendering, but I think it's going to be TOP as well....

    Does it have 3dof or is the screen fixed, meaning that where your head moves so does the screen. Watching movies and media is fine with a fixed screen, but playing games is straining on the eye since you’ll have to move your eyes rather than your head to a particular part of the screen.

    • @MakeUseOf
      @MakeUseOf  Год назад +1

      No motion tracking, the screen is fixed. The entire screen is within your field of view, so unless you're looking at the extreme edges, you don't need to move your eyes much. But yes, it's definitely best suited to movies rather than gaming.

    The PD cant get the whole screen in focus. Feels like watching something through binoculars The picture is too big so you end up seeing the lens curvature at the sides of the screen unless you make it smaller.

    This would be great for 3D movies.. I have over 400 3D Blu-Rays. 4K was an old outdated backwards format right out of the gate because it’s 2D only.

      FYI.... I have the 'Young' model form 2020 which is meant to play 2D Blue Ray Disc content. It doesn't and if you go to Goovis YT channel they show a WiFi Router device being connected via HDMi under their 'Connecting to Blue Ray Player' which is totally incorrect. No where does Goovis or anyone show BR disc content playing in ANY Goovis headset. Just a 'heads' up, it don't work

  • @Vegatablez
    @Vegatablez Год назад +2

    I hope you can get I hope you can get some of the more recent display glasses in like the rokid max or nreal air. As I think they’ll be a definite improvement from your original goovis and are very reasonably priced(about $4-600). I’m sure these will be great but I’m struggling to see that they’re worth 2-3x the price that goovis is asking and that might be a big misstep.

      I actually have the Rokid Max for review, but unfortunately I don't have a compatible Android device to hook it up to and test the AR features. If you don't want the AR, the Goovis G3 Max is definitely superior.

    I don’t understand what you mean by the 3D content you tried being in hdr. That doesn’t exist. And there is plenty of side-by-side content on youtube that you could have tried. It’s a shame that no reviewer ever goes into the actual potential of one of these devices as a 3D movies display. Do you not own a 3D blu-ray player that you can connect to this and test with an actual disc? Avatar 2 is out now on blu-ray 3D. Maybe it’s time for a trip to Pandora.

    • @MakeUseOf
      @MakeUseOf  Год назад

      Hmm, I might be mistaken on the 3d HDR bit. I tried both HDR and 3D SBS files, and neither was compelling enough to make me finish watching them with the built-in audio (or with the lack of HDR). I don't own a 3D bluray player sadly, and given the PS5 removed the functionality, I think it's safe to say the feature will soon be dead and 3D blurays will dry up. There's been... what... 4 releases this year so far?
      I say that as someone who's been watching 3D content for decades, and gaming in 3D back with the original Nvidia 3D glasses on a massive high refresh CRT. It's dead.
      The headset does support 3D playback easily, however, the depth effect you'll get will be determined by the source, not the playback device. If you're worried it won't work with your player, I wouldn't be. Standard HDMI signal, switch to 3D mode, simples.

    • @nunocampos1805
      @nunocampos1805 Год назад +1

      @@MakeUseOf I thought that much. I expect that when playing a proper 3D blu-ray with a high bitrate the quality will be much better than those sbs files you tested with. Like streaming 1080p or playing from a Blu-ray. It’s night and day comparison. I ask because everyone that has tested one of these devices always comments on how there isn’t any pop outs when playing 3D content, mainly from the screens being so physically close to one’s eyes. So I was wondering how this device behaves when proper 3D is being displayed. As for 3D being dead, there as been close to 20 releases this year so far, as in 3D Blu-ray releases, so 3D is not going anywhere anytime soon.

    • @eeeeyuke
      @eeeeyuke Год назад +2

      @@nunocampos1805agreed. How can you do a review and not test one of the touted features? I want to know how it'll look to connect a 3d blu ray player and play a frame packed disc to the visor. Ugh.

      @@MakeUseOfI’m still team 3D. I would never buy a TV that doesn’t support 3D. It baffles my mind that it’s a dying format… it would be like if Color or Widescreen didn’t take off and died. I have movie collectors friends that don’t have 3D and it blows my mind. How do you watch Pixar or Marvel movies? It should be a crime to watch Guardians of the Galaxy in flat 2D. It’s still big in the theater, I’ve seen around 15 3D movies this year.

    • @MakeUseOf

      I'm much preferring the Nreal Air 2; I don't like the Rokid. The G3 Max I find has a slight vertical pixellation, and I can't quite figure out why. Air 2 definitely my preference at the moment though; good screen size, 1080p is plenty, bright visuals and color accurate.

    How does the "screen door" compare to e.g Nreal air, rokid max or viture one?

    • @MakeUseOf
      @MakeUseOf  Год назад +1

      There is no screen door, because the pixel density is so high. I've only otherwise tried the rokid Max, which is slightly lower resolution, but my other reference point would be Quest 2 or Valve Index, for which there is no comparison on the screen door front. If that's the only factor for you, the G3 Max are superb.

      Best to ask Goovis on the eye issue; glasses are fine, I don't know about astigmatism. If you're not travelling, and don't particularly need the privacy, I think you'd be better off with a projector for home use though.

      For those who don't actually want VR, the resolution difference is well worth it (I'm not one of them, mind, just saying). It's also higher pixel density and virtual screen size than the Nreal or Rokid. But yes, it's certainly a niche product, and most people will be better served by an Oculus Quest 2 (or 3, soon).
