A GREAT nod to the brilliance of Arthur Lee's band, LOVE, by another great, Robert Plant ! Love's album, FOREVER CHANGES, was to my mind much underrated. Go check the album out, IF you have not yet done so !
It only gets props from obscure artists in interviews, and in youtube comment sections. The album is one I always felt was 'mine', inasmuch as I encountered it organically, in a record store. I boight it baed on the album art and the band's name. When i liistened to it at home, I knew I had to keep that music sacred, in my life. It has been 30 years with forever changes and nothing has changed, ironically. Other bands rise and fall out favor, but Love remains. I was able to see Arthur play live at a street fair, only once. The person who scored me the precious entry would go on to steal my wife. I think it was a fair trade.
Da Capo, the album that this song came from was better than Forever Changes. I have never heard a cover version of this song as good as the Love original.
@@nyobunknown6983 I'm with ya. Da Capo is a rock classic, I like it more than Forever Changes, but all their work is brilliant. And I doubt they're in the R&R HOF. But they don't have a clue.
Our San Diego band in the 60's, 12th Street Underground did the version from the LOVE album. We were an every-weekend danceband but always were adopting something that may not be danceable but stretched us for something more.
I accidentally found '7 and 7' while checking song titles..dicoverd Love's version...totally diumbfounded me ..and when you consider the year it was recorded..well wow!...cant really say anything except 'what a track'...how the heck this song even came about must have a great story behind it...incredible song!
Yeah, I don't think Plant & Co. was having a good time entertaining while covering a personal hero. They went out there thinking they were doing a better version of the song.

I love Robert Plant - one of my top five singers ever - and most of what he does but this version of seven and seven is" was missing parts including the slow melodic Blues ending and and floating in the versus so I just thought it was okay and not that good actually. but this is after hearing good cover versions of it by Rush and 24/7 spyz
I don't like the Rush one. The Bangles did a really nice one live (I mean the one when they were still called The Bangs) but they dropped the ending too, I don't know why people think they can get away with leaving off the ending... No matter how you slice it it's fun hearing Robert sing "Throw me if you want 'cause I'm a bone," he's the man.

I cannot BELIEVE Robert did a version of this!! I thought I was having an audio hallucination!
I know, right? !!!!

Lacks the energy of the "Love" version, the original is almost manic.

No way, Da Capo is marred by the useless void on side 2 Revelation

San Diego!! I was born in 1970, in San Diego. Any famous 60s bands come out of San Diego?
Plant pays homage to the late Arthur Lee at some of his shows.
Thats beautiful. I would not have guessed it. Did Arthur know, when he was alive, that Page is a fan?

@@BakedSalmonNetwork Yes, Arthur knew and he also knew that Plant lifted some of his music. Facts.
That was pretty cool. Never heard his take on it before. Band be shredden.
Can't hold a candle to the original.
The Bangles had an awesome version of this lost classic.
So do the Ramones
Find him doing season of the witch. Also awesome.
Rockin Robert.
deepurple recorded it in their new album
Love does it much much better.
Yes. And as for covers of the song, Alice Cooper's is MUCH better than this.

I am just stoked they honored arthur. It likely wasnt to get the crowd pumped, as i would guess only a fraction would know it as a Love song.

Seems to be inspired by the 2004 Rush version as well. Very nice!
@user-pv8jy1nt8f That's no reason why he can't take inspiration from other artists too, though...
Percy!
A different song from the Love version. The guys are totally out of their element with this one.

Sensacional
Drums are way different. Maybe they should of brought back Snoopy for this one.
Ace
It kind of sounds like he's got The Who as his backing band.
Cool, now we know what a The Who version would sound like.
Anyone knows who are the musicians playing with Robert Plant on this song? The drummer is very good.
Clive Deamer the drummer.
SS?? That’s the name of the band? Hope it’s not a german group. …Great playing!
Really nice version.
TOUGH song to do EVEN for the originators, L O V E !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jack the White and Gerta Van Farts gonna sue him
when you and leg horse beat up some criminals
The Ramones cover kicks Plants heiney
Arthur Lee played the drums on the original..no matter who he hired..listen...Love
No that’s actually not true. It’s Snoopy. Took him many many takes! (Source Johnny Echols)
@@rsands9 Yes, Arthur tried a take or two but Snoopy did indeed lay down the track. End of story.
Robert Plant’s Cover beats the fuck out of the cover by Rush!!!
But not the Ramones cover
@@sherylF5610 I don’t think the Ramones did a cover. I think you’re referring to the Love original

This song's not a good fit for Plant. Should've chosen a different song from Arthur's many gems
meh....
band 10 but not a good song for Bobby.
Terrible!
terrible cover
absolute SHITE version of a Clasic
Terrible cover
