Robert Plant SAVED this benefit from becoming a total disaster. It shouldn't have come to that. . . . Plant flew into New York two days before the benefit. He learned that ticket sales were sluggish because radio stations were not publicizing the event at all. He started calling stations from his hotel room. They gave him airtime because the station wanted to talk about Led Zeppelin. Plant wouldn’t have any of that. He sounded annoyed at times because of the lack of awareness among those on the air about Arthur Lee and his influence on the careers of Led Zeppelin and many other British rock groups. The group LOVE did in fact have a HUGE following in England. . . . Following Robert Plant’s interviews on New York radio stations, ticket sales for the benefit picked up and the theater nearly sold out. It should have never come to that. Arthur's music was brilliant. Radio stations and industry people downplayed his significance throughout his career because he did not like to tour (Brian Wilson didn't either, but that never stopped anyone from giving him all the accolades he deserved). . . . Robert Plant is a true HUMAN BEING with a conscience and lots of talent to boot.
Killer song by Love and one of my favorites on Forever Changes. Glad to see Robert Plant appreciates it too. Who'd have thought Plant would cover this ! Great find.
@@JohnBlutarski My top 5 keep changing positions among themselves. In no particular order, these will be Trout Mask Replica, Horses, Songs of Love and Hate, After Bathing At Baxters, Forever Changes, Velvet Underground and Nico, The Doors.....
@@craigbutterfield592 All Love albums have great parts, but my two favourites for overall quality are FOUR SAIL and REEL TO REAL. yes, I know, not the critics favourites, but they delight me *all the way through*. And despite liking FOREVER CHANGES I have never in fifty years of listening, through it was a purely wonderful thing (just me then, eh)
Robert Plant keeps showing up at the most interesting of places. Watched a RUclips video of him playing When The Levee Breaks with Deborah Bonham. John Bonham's younger sister I believe. It was great just like this was. 60's revisited!!!! Love...Forever CHanges ...amazing album. Johnny Echols a class guy and keeping the spirit of Love alive with Robert!!!
Great night of music! All for Arthur! I was the photographer. Still trying to find out who put out the bootleg album. Plant and Ian Hunter the photo on the cover. Never even received a photo credit! Ps. Hope the money went to a Arthur Lee charity!
Zygfryd Dabrowski Amazing show! Some of my photos have been on Robert Plant's web site. ps. I lost a great lens in front of the stage. Any one have it?
Arthur, with group including Mike Randle, did a great rendition at the 2004 Glastonbury festival. They weren't on a stage, just out back. There's a youtube video up there.
Friday night. BBC4 will be playing the set from the Glastonbury Festival. Arthur and LOVE. I think it was 2003. Great concert! They had strings and horns. Played Forever Changes. That is all the details I have. Tomorrow night!
Rober Plants been involved in lots of great projects including the one for Skip Spence from Moby Grape. And if you have never checked out Loves music its high time you did. Now get on up!
elfinarcher84 I really would like a copy of the recording. I will send you some photos of the show. I was the photographer. Dougsimages@aol.com. ps. Amazing night of music!!!
I would really like a copy! Will send you a great photo of Arthur. The show was really special. Have some really good photos. Remember Ryan Adam's would not play a LOVE song!
A crucial thing missing is Arther Lee's excellent abilities as an arranger, and not only. The timing left a lot to be desired and as for the rythm .....
@@caroles140 Arthur was a poet not a musician! The musician Bryan Maclean(r.i.p)who wrote Alone again or and old man ,orange skies etc on forever changes and created Loves sound with Johnny Echols and disappeared after Forever changes.the last and greatest album of the real LOVE(Bryan's idea) lineup.RIP Bryan Maclean a real visionary creator of the LA sound🙏
Johnny dealing out the solo is awesome. The acoustic rhythm Guitar player is outstanding. This was great
Forever Changes, one of the best albums ever written.
It's in my top 5
Not many would disagree

I WAS THERE! This was the Last Time I saw Plant. This Show Was AMAZING!!!!!!!
One of my heroes paying tribute to another. Not a bad version of this classic either. Great stuff.
Killer song by Love and one of my favorites on Forever Changes. Glad to see Robert Plant appreciates it too. Who'd have thought Plant would cover this ! Great find.
GREAT! Well done. LOVE was an unheralded phenomena of the 60"s. Those in the industry know that. Plant is one of those.
Forever Changes is one of three best albums ever made.
And, in your opinion, the other two?

I forgot to mention Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Another Side of Bob Dylan too. Song to a Seagull is one of my favorites.
As is their first album and DeCapo. Love was fantastic

Thank you! It was one of the most memorable gigs of my life. (I played the psychedelic organ)
@@andyburtonmusic That's an unusual sound for a Hammond! Was it midi'd to something else?
keneelee no MIDI, it’s just a B-3 with the chorus vibrato set to V-3 which makes it sound a little more like a combo organ
Love this music by Robert Plant❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Only six comments, but the lyrics are a bit different, they were, awesome. but beautiful version. Who loves Robert Plant? ME

It was great to see,again!
GOOD MUSIC! THANK YOU!
Plant always pays his dues. Great version!
Nope! Lot of Zeppelin lyrics were nicked and therefore no royalties paid!

Forever Changes, one of the best albums ever written. Better than anything Zep ever put out.
Still thinking about Arthur
Brilliant

History.
Arthur Lee, Johnny Echols, Bryan Maclean, Snoopy, Don Conka influenced Plant & Led Zeppelin among many others -- loved them.
Luv
Sweet
Historic!
Omg!.....?? Robert plant is fucking amazing!.... Arthur would pat him 9n back!....... ✨❤️✨
Keyboard wow
👍👍
Johnny playing a Vine of Life Schecter just like mine!
Rules!
Robert introduces Johnny and they barely film him. Ha!
wish Plant packed more punch in this song - like Gallows pole and the organ mini solo is out of place
Echols is like, wtf organ?
Excepto por la parte del organo parece que suena mas a Cream que a Love
FC is not one of the best. It is THE BEST. RP seems out place.ill take JE any time
No. Very crap version

@@caroles140 Yeah the timing was dreadful. organ was dope though

It is not the version, it is the recording, not high quality.
