Saw them many times. This may be the first punk rock song. They are one of my top 5 bands. Arthur was a great songwriter, yet greatly unappreciated. Forever Changes rivals Sgt Pepper for ingenious orchestration. ❤❤❤❤

Nah, it’s not punk, just out of tune guitars and bad guitar tone.
But the energy is on spot, love Arthur and Love!!

Doing a bit of research on this. I’m thinking maybe Surfin Bird from ‘63 or The Witch by The Sonics from ‘65

Absolutely loved this in high school. I did actually burn out an amplifier playing it so loud. What a workout for the drummer!

This would be cool to hear in the garage next door. Saw them in '66 at Winterland.

Wow. Don't know when this was recorded, but I saw them in about '66 or '67 at the old Hullaballoo in Hollywood (I was way to young and had to sneak in). That was when Bryan MacLean was still in the band. Really one of my favorite musical memories.

I remember the Hullaballoo. My older sisters were there almost every weekend. Later, I did the Whisky on Sunset.

Thanks for sharing this, tape degradation doesn't matter at all. It's important footage of a period when Arthur was back to the underground. I saw a few iterations of him and his bands then. Great shows and interesting to see how strongly he and his songs fared live prior to his "rebirth" with Baby Lemonade.

7 and 7 Is and..... Revelation. Revelation took up an entire side of the album. A friend thought the lyrics were "dirty". She was an uptight catholic girl. Sly And The Family Stone came out with "Sex Machine". All this music makes me want to go out and buy a Fender Strat, Marshall amps and find people to play with.

Goin' Home by the Rolling Atones on Aftermath is a Revelation. Apparently the lads saw Love performing it a few times in LA before Goin' Home and recording Aftermath.

I SAW THE ORIGINAL BAND FROM SNOOPY ON FOWARD MANY TIMES IN LA
THEY WERE SUCH A GREAT LIVE BAND
LATER IN THE 80s BRYAN MACLEAN AND HIS STEP SISTER MARIA McKEE WERE GOOD FRIENDS TO ME AND MY BAND
EVERYBODY MISSES BRYAN, HIS SPIRIT & WONDERFULLY CREATIVE SONGS

Hi -- i'm Art's Media Manager, Franklin. After a SEVEN YEAR break, I'm back adding youtube excerpts from the 100s and 100s of Poker Party shows. The Arthur Lee and Love appearance is from the show taped 7/31/1990. Even though that particular show copy is not the best quality, the performance is so charismatic we had to put it up. -- there's a second song from that show we'll add soon. thanks for watching.

defiantly - & whew! so out of tune and the tapes warped too! but, still.., like a car crash... i had to watch.

    • @diegoferreiro9478
      @diegoferreiro9478 8 месяцев назад +2

@@OverSightMedia well, given the fact that the original recording included an actual atomic blast (*) a car crash may sound quite mild.
Joking aside, the sound quality may be poor but this video has its documentary value.
(*) Thank you Elektra for your 10-LP collection of sound effects that served so well to your artists and which also became an unexpected best seller.
