Dear Melanie:

Hi! Thanks so much for the tutorial where can I get staves in bulk?
Perfect video even though this was 4 years ago. I have interest of making fans like this thank you
Just love it! Thanks so much💕
If possible could you do the umbrella too. Finally found a diy like this.
Thank you so much
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I noticed in one of your replies that you said that you used fat quarters and they were 28"x22". Fat Quarters are 18"x22", will they still work for the fan pattern? What are the overall pattern dimensions? And I certainly thank you for providing such a concise and well spoken tutorial. Very clearly presented!
Hi great video! I am wondering where you buy the frame for the fans, i'm wondering where i could buy it in bulks
This video was so helpful and clear!Where did you get the form you used for these fans?
I love the fans
Hello!! thank you for making this video! it's so hard to find tutorials on fan-making using fabric. I do have a couple questions because I really want to make some fans. I was wondering where you bought your black staves from. Are the staves you use made out of bamboo or plastic?
thank you so much for this!!!! does anyone know if there is a machine that can do the folding? I want to sell these
Will this fan make a clapping or clanking sound when opened? Can it be opened with one hand at the flick of the wrist?
Where can I buy the staves base?? I’m looking to make a decorate fan for a cosplay and this tutorial was exactly what I needed!
Hey! So glad this is helpful - I bought these from VenaCavaDesign on Etsy. They also have a separate website www.venacavadesign.co.uk/
Dollar store. Just gently remove fabric and follow her steps.
Most crafts stores will have them, like Hobby Lobby or Michaels
Amazon you get so much for a low price
Where do u get the actual fan peice?
Elmers glue is also for fabric.
Beautiful work. Can I cover the other side with fabric too?
I think you probably can - let us know if you try it how it works out
I was wondering the same thing!!!! I think it’s definitely possible!
hey ! where could i buy the trame (armature) please ?
This was so incredibly helpful thank you!!!
ashleigh0891 is that Above&Beyond?
It is!!! I actually used this tutorial to make a fan for the A&B show in Miami last night :)
ashleigh0891 that’s awesome!! That’s actually the same design I had in mind too, I want to make it in time for EDC and I’m also going to The Gorge and want to take some to trade. Where did you buy the Staves? Is it possible to look at how yours came out, I can’t really see it off the YT picture
Ruben Rodriguez yeah dude totally! Add me on Instagram and I can send you some pictures!! @anjuna_kandi
ashleigh0891 thanks so much, I just sent you a message
What fabric do you suggest for this?
What kind of fabric do you recommend for these?💕
Where can I bueno the plasti pieles or the boda to mate the fan?
Hi, this would be a single sidedd fan (with the fabric pattern on one side ). It would be eassier to glue the fabric , just by folding it in equal size, showing pattern on each side of the fan. Also looks better if it is a double sided fan with same of may be different fabric or pattern.
is there any way to make the staves ourselves?
You can make them yourself. I make them with popsicle sticks!
What fabric did you use?
Thanks everyone
Love this tutorial. Would Mod Podge work just as well to glue the fabric to the stave? Thanks!
I'm not sure if Mod Podge would be strong enough to hold the fabric, but I have not tried it myself. If you do try it, please let me know how it turns out! Vice versa if I try it out, I'll let you know.
That would be a great experiment. If you do both sides, you may try really soaking it in MP and after it is dried stiff, use something almost sharp to set in the creases. Try a cheap one and see what happens.
Mod Podge do a version for Fabric which should work perfectly.
great tutorial! would hot glue work for glueing the fabric?
They said in the video that hot glue left a solid ridge that made folding/ closing the fan difficult
Where can i get the bakin?
Thank you for making this video, the instructions are very clear and easy to follow :-)
I only have one question: How did you get the bones for the fan? Like, did you make them yourself or did you buy them like this?
Where do you get all the materials from like the fabric staves glue fabric scissors etc?
Buy a fan at dollar store or dollar tree and take it apart.
😊
How long, in inches, of fabric did you buy?
We used fat quarters that you can buy single or in bundles where most fabric is sold. So I think those are typically like 28" x 22"
Black Unicorn Creations thank you
Is there a way to add the fabric to both sides or does it not fold right?
Ruben Rodriguez I added fabric to both sides and it’s perfectly fine
Good question, we didn't try that. All fans I have ever seen pretty much have a "front" and "back" so I assume it may impact the folding, but perhaps if your material is thin enough, it would work.
Black Unicorn Creations i made a double sided fan with crushed velvet and it looks amazing. So I think as long as the fabric isn’t too too thick it should be fine!!
@@abbattoirnoises Very good to know!!
When using fabric on both sides do you still glue the last stave differently?
Sana all we have that please we can give me that because irealy love that please.... Give in Philippines now. Here right now. Thank you
*me about to clack that fan*

Measure stave, get push pin, yarn, and pen. Draw half circle with rope at length of measurement. It's so easy to make a half circle patter. This method was far too complicated for measuring two half circles. Lol.
lol there's more than one way to do things, do what works for you
