    Thanks Jared you rock, I just bought this amp/ pedal for my pedalboard.

      Hi I'm new here. Can you literally plug straight into the powerstage and run that to a 4x12 and play an un-mic'd show? Of course with a couple pedals but just keeping it simple for question sake

    • @carloswhomusic
      @carloswhomusic 4 месяца назад +1

      @@comebackcruz yes pedals/pedalboard mono output straight into powerstage - out to cabinets

      @comebackcruz 4 месяца назад

      @carloswhomusic wow holy crap thank you. My 120 watt tube head crapped out on me during a gig recently and this would've came in handy. Is it loud enough to play un-mic'ed metal/punk shows through a single cabinet in your opinion?

  • @dapunkof1975

    I just bought one. Worth every penny. Has to be the best power amp. For only 170 it has so much tone and plenty of volume! (Axe fx2 user)

    Jared's playing in this is pretty entertaining by itself,add some Seymour Duncan goodness and it rocks properly. Now I'm gonna have to save up for a Palladium and that power amp pedal.

    Was the signal chain just Palladium and the PowerStage 170? And should all the tone and etc, stay the same throughout the volume range (min to max)? Also Jared's playing....WOW! So much feel!

      With the Palladium and PowerStage 170, you can get AMAZING high gain tones a low volumes, which is great for practicing and rehearsing. More importantly, it has enough power to fuel your rig at any size venue, and sounds AWESOME at high volumes. The icing on the cake is that, as Jared mentions, when you roll the volume off on your guitar, Palladium and PowerStage clean up just like a classic tube amp!

    What could be the reason why it doesn't work with some cabinets?? no problem with my cab at home but it didn't work with loudspeaker input of some amplifiers i used at reharsals. It happened 3 times out of 4 and I mean no sound at all! What could be the issue? :-(

    At first I thought this was a parody band, with the whole overdoing-it thing. But after reading some of the comments... Ooops. I guess I'm not familiar with the blues-rock band scene right now. I do like the PowerStage 170.

    Compared to a 100-watt valve amplifier is there a lot of difference in volume?

    • @sid35gb
      @sid35gb 3 года назад

      Volume won’t be a problem. The SD is class D so in the worst case situation you’d be only producing 42 watts out but the reality is to get twice as loud you’d need a 420watt amp!!! The 170 will produce well over 110 db out of a 2x12 cab and if you’re that loud you’ll be told to turn it down by either by the sound guy or the police.

  • @KRsix
    @KRsix 7 лет назад

    I would buy it immediately if it would have the xlr out with the cab sim to record with the same tone at home straight into the DAW, but I guess there's not enough space in the housing?!

    • @seymourduncan
      @seymourduncan  7 лет назад +3

      Actually, recording was not its designed purpose. It is supposed to be a pedalboard-friendly power amp and that is it. Many use it with a modeler, which would have XLR outs and cab sims already, so we didn't want to duplicate that.

    • @JM-eq3sx
      @JM-eq3sx 7 лет назад

      Please make a demo with a modeler. My preference is a Helix, but Kemper and Fractal AX8 are fine too. And maybe try to vary the styles a bit. As good as this guy is, I was listening for a little more variety and didn't hear it. Wouldn't mind if it was in a typical live venue either, maybe a small stage, roadhouse, that kind of thing. Also, was listening for that bottom, cab-resonant "thump" on the lower strings and didn't hear it. Could be the style, or it could be the 170 doesn't have the transient headroom to deliver. (I'm assuming it does.)

    any idea on how the power stage 170 manages amp modellers or profilers (like Kemper, Axe-Fx or Helix)?

    • @seymourduncan
      @seymourduncan  7 лет назад +2

      We used an Axe-FX and a Palladium Gain Stage pedal at NAMM and it sounded glorious. The Power Stage 170 is designed for use with modelers or preamps.

    Effects loop..? XLR out..?

    • @seymourduncan
      @seymourduncan  7 лет назад +1

      No effects loop. Pedals would go before the pedal, just like in a traditional amp: the effects loop goes before the power amp. No XLR out, since it is not a direct-to-PA device...it gets plugged into a guitar cab or a full range speaker (for a modeler). The majority of inputs for these cabs are 1/4" jacks.

    • @JM-eq3sx

      How many flavors of cab simulator in the 170 for FRFR (full range) speakers? Have to assume it does not load impulse responses. Would it work well with IR's in the modeler?

    • @seymourduncan
      @seymourduncan  7 лет назад

      It doesn't load IRs or have cab sims of any kind. It is designed to use the cab sims in your modeler, or provide clean power into your own guitar cab.

    Great video like all the rest :D
    However I have to say as someone working in sound my self;
    PLEASE make an effort to pay someone to properly record dialogue or simply execute the dialogue recording with your own.. But aim for audio with as close to perfection as possible...
    It would be adding production value to the videos, Which I think is worth it seeing as your products are awesome and I love the company.
    Heck you can even give it to me and I can correct & edit the dialogue to sound perfect using Izotope Rx6.
    I'll start pitching to companies like Seymour Duncan and others that I notice haven't enough effort into the Dialogue.
    I could even tell you the microphone on Jared is a Sennheiser ME 2 maybe connected to a G3 EW100.
    I know some people don't care, But I think it should matter for many reasons...
    Anyways
    LOVE the company :)
    Would love to work with you at some point.
    Cheers
    Respectfully,
    E.A

    can this go direct into a PA?

    • @Thejgomez
      @Thejgomez 7 лет назад

      Christopher Mafnas you don't need a power amp to go to a PA, instead you'll need a preamp with a cab simulation.

    • @clgmafnas
      @clgmafnas 7 лет назад

      Jone Gomez so if I don't have access to a cab, I can't plug this into the board?

    • @Thejgomez
      @Thejgomez 7 лет назад

      Christopher Mafnas Power amp main porpoise is to feed a cab, not sure if has line out with cab simulation, but if does it will be be pointless to only use that feature, you can get cab simulation pedals is that what you want/need.

      @twohornedpuppet85 6 лет назад

      I wish, but it depends on the genre. I got a myself an Atomic Amplifire for more flexability in a metal band and plugged it into the return of the Amp1. I wasnt able to get a good sound from it at all. The Amp1 started breaking up way early and mudding my whole sound into a fizzy mess.
      This week I got the Powerstage to see if it sounds better and its like night and day. My patches finally sound like the way i programmed them at home.
      Edit: Ill still be using the Amp1 for my punk band though.
