Hey all!
This has been suggested so many times and I really wasn't confident in a concept until now, so thank you for being patient if this has been on your wishlist for a while now! Oops time to watch Brennan Lee Mulligan threaten the very existence of Zac Oyama, but also they're pretending to be fonts too I guess.

I see what you Didot there. ;)

The Arial animation of Zac there at the end had a particularly big Impact on me.

@cappycook If you're truly impossible to Console I guess I'll Sergoe
Cowering in fear as your opponent verbally detroys you, only to find the most miniscule error in their speech, correcting it confidently, and flying away to the skies unmoving is such a Zac move
I saw it as the moment when the protagonist makes a bad joke/reference to earlier dialogue, distracting the villain before turning the tables on them
:D and the fact that it wasn't an error but Zach's character so confidently stated it as the deciding factor in the battle makes it even funnier
It wasn't an error. Sam is right. They're the same thing. But dropping a killer one line response is absolutely a Zac thing to do.
@@Sabbathtagelate to the party, but they aren’t.
They do the same thing, sure, but they actually use different images. Wingdings are generally more popular as a meme font, so it makes sense Comic Sans would know them over Webdings.
Fun fact: Wingdings are seven years older than Webdings
@@Zero-0N3 wingdings is the more ancient of the two and Times New Romans knew not to trample on such old powers
As a graphic designer, hearing Times New Roman strike down HELVETICA is literally the coldest line I've ever heard.
That's where I lost it completely 😂
Modern Shakespeare.
Honestly when he said he got Baskerville I was like 'NO way are you superior to Baskerville'
@@mordekaihorowitz Oh you know there was some foul play involved
It was a harrowing battle at the colon. A true colonoscopy.
I love how Zac doesn’t move when he flies
It’s like mind controlled superman from Batman beyond lol
Fitting for how comic sans is zero effort. Also top notch comparison with the Superman
omniman energy tbh
exactly how I pictured it 😭
I kinda wish someone acting as wingdings had dropped in and flew away with him, like the name was a codeword for an escape maneuver.
I'm still mad Brennan didn't say "the fields behind me are littered with the bodies of fonts BOLDER and more cunning than you."
Bolder and more kerning 😂
@@Kidzelda0 goddamnit you're right
The underlining fact is that they're all dead.
@@mettatonex7221 Struck through in their prime.
Missed opportunity
To those curious Webdings was made by the creator of ComicSans and had more pictures in it while Wingdings came standard with Microsoft Word and had more symbols.
So what you're saying is. Unintentionally, Times New Roman slew Wingdings while ComicSans secreted away his cousin Webdings. The plot thickens even more!
This just gave me a flashback to being 12 years old in 2002 and finding people on Yahoo games talking about a 9/11 wing dings conspiracy. If you typed 911 in wing dings it was a plane and two buildings 💀 people were losing their ever loving minds, not realizing that the image was actually a picture of a piece of paper, not buildings.
@@deathbloom27 I remember classmates spreading that around in elementary school. It wasn't "911", that renders in Wingdings as a trackball (9) and two folders (11). The hoax was actually "Q33 NY" which turns into a plane (Q), two sheets of paper which could also look like office buildings (33), a skull and crossbones (N), and the Star of David (Y). Q33 referred to the first plane to hit the Twin Towers, except... there was no such flight as Q33. The planes that hit the Twin Towers were AA11 and UA175. Wikipedia has a section on the Wingdings page on this hoax, as well as explaining the real controversy where "NYC" rendered as the aforementioned skull and crossbones (N), Star of David (Y), and a thumbs-up (C), believed to be an anti-Semitic message. Microsoft insisted this was by accident, and Webdings changed this to render as an eye (N), heart (Y), and city skyline (C) to refer to the "I ❤NY" slogan.
Wait, I thought both Webdings and Wingdings were clones of Dingbatz?
To think we get actual lore out of something as supposedly shallow and lackadaisical as a quick snippet of a Make Some Noise clip.
"I struck down Helvetica."
Amazing delivery to begin with and the subtle eye twitch makes it so much better
I love that the delivery of that and the lack of elaboration implies Helvetica was this INSURMOUNTABLE force, so the idea that TNR struck them down is enough of a show of force in and of itself.
The history of Helvetica is interesting. It's apparently the first and progenitor of all early modern typefaces, if memory of the Wikipedia browse is right
@@MetaNiteFM To be fair: It does have HEL, in it's name, so...
I'd say it's pretty menacing
Funnily enough, the real life Julius Caesar did a lot of talking up the Helvetians to make himself look good, because he commanded the force that defeated them. A Roman really did brag about defeating Helveti(c)a because it was so powerful
I love how intimidating Brennan is
The subtle sense of insanity in Brennans face as he says "I struck down Helvetica" is just perfection, holy shit
I came here to say just this! That shadow of giddy madness is so chilling even as it's hilarious
Subtle?
@@max-zv7sf I mean he isn't screaming, mouth foaming, waving his arms around or whatever else usually gets associated with insanity so I'd say a smile and a little twitch in the eyes is subtle yes ✨
No one could ever hope to strike down Helvetica. Everyone thinks they can, but Helvetica always returns.
Agreed.
“I struck down Helvetica.” Is SUCH a good line, because it ACTUALLY sounds like an ancient ruler’s name
Look up The Helvetii
It's also hilarious because Ariel and Helvetica are kind of the dominant default fonts on the web.
Honestly at least half of the Font names sound like Game of Throne style noble Houses.
Helvetica is the personification of Switzerland
I STRUCK DOWN SWITZERLAND!!!!!!
Calibri walks up behind Times New Roman and puts a sword in his back:
"Microsoft Word sends its regards"
Comic Sans: "Calibri?! You were behind all this!"
Calibri: "Yes, it was I! My machinations laid *undetected* for years!"
@@elliep6261"For I am a master of deception!"
*Aptos garrotes Calibri* Too sloppy Calibri

And the segmented roman armor was a nice touch, too. Love the attention to detail
Brennan being a bird expert AND a font aficionado is exactly the type of character trait I should’ve expected from him
The *type* of *character*?
I'm sorry--

I watched a million videos advertising Dropout, but never coughed up the membership fee until DBI got me addicted.
Ayyy glad to hear it! They're completely worth supporting
For me it was the "Gorgug asking if people are his dad" compilation that got me to check out FH, and after that I simply had no choice
I have to second this comment, I fully subscribed to Dropout because of Blue's animations. ✨
Not to mention the other great shows, cartoon hell, troopers, Ultra mechatron team go, plus pretty much everything college humor has ever put out. Worth the sub.
@@Notbatman374😂
Its time for a confession: when i was at university, we were required to use times new roman on EVERYTHING. Three years in, I started to HATE times new roman so I started writting in comic sans just for the heck of it and, when I was done, I changed it to times new roman. It made the whole "write a paper" process more bearable.
Oh I FULLY get this though.
Same... although I do this with Courier New.
Just like the way it looks on paper and the fact all of its characters are the same width so it looks neater anyway.
I do similar, but with Verdana. I'm not sure why I like it, I can see objective flaws, but I do.
"You either die comic sans or live long enough to see yourself become times new roman."
Good tip
I love how you captured TNR's shock at the reveal that he had slain the elder sister, not the younger. It really adds to the drama, knowing that the sisters' ruse worked, and he had missed the true target. Now all the Emoticons will be against him, if they do introduce their faction next season as teased!
Wingdings's sacrifice will be TNR's downfall. Webdings's vengeance will be incomprehensible.
I can already see Comic Sans standing beside emojis in this cartoon war
God that's such a genius interpretation of the text
@@DeepBlueInkHeh. "Text" I see what you did there 😏
Best part: i know for a fact there is more than one wingdings, as such, he slew a twin, meaning that another wingdings as well as webdings is also going to be in the fighting, trying to avenge the soul that was lost
I'm sooooo happy DeepBlueInk is animating more and more Dropout (specifically BLeeM) videos! They take his already iconic monologues to the next level
BLEEM
I love "BLeeM" as a shortening of Brennan's name!
Drop out and drawfee are the best content imo
Wow, I love that way of abbreviating Brennan's name! It's way less confusing than using BLM. Also, it's some noise, just like the show!
@@raf.raf. They told us to make some noise and the noise we've chosen is "bleem."
The whole thing is brilliant but shout out to the closed captions for giving us the amazing phrase "The Fonts of the Damned."
Well, now I have to rewatch with captions
Oh, I LOVE easter eggs in CC
*"Don't you mean Wingdings?"*
I love the implication that in this world of living fonts, the only way to best your opponent is by exploiting their grammatical errors to gain a new power-up
Love the rainy battlefield setting, it gives the whole thing such POMP and GRAVITAS, very fitting for Brennan’s dramatic flair
“I struck down Helvetica” goes so fucking hard unironically
"New Centurions for a new century" is also underrated
I like how Zach came up with this killer retort at the end, and Brennan the person, not the character, is legitimately confused enough to try and get a gm ruling. Can't believe Zach came up with that comeback on the....fly.
...I'll see myself out.
Can't believe nobody noticed Brennan's brilliant font pun with "new soldiers for a New Century". Century is another family of serif fonts, related to Times New Roman
This implies that the forces on Comic Sans' side managed to slay Century prior, and Times New Roman has gone and _built a new one._
@@kjj26k Almost like when the Romans raised an entire new army after being trounced by the Carthaginians the first time around during the Punic Wars.
The fact that he did that and was otherwise so good with the font terms made the choice of the word braver rather than *bolder* disappointing but that is literally my only criticism- the scene is perfect otherwise!
@@smithsonian2464they did that thrice, didn’t they?
Edit: nevermind, that was with them losing their navy three times to bad weather
I LOVE how Brennan’s banners/armor are designed after that one shirt he wears all the time.
good lord the villain energy emanating from Brennan is MENACING. his face looks relativelt composed but the circles under his eyes and his words scream vengeance unto the tenth generation and heavenly descending from the skies and I am eating it all up
His alter ego is Wennan Wee Wulligan (as coined on Dropout) and that WWW's villian energy is off the charts. When he said, "I'm gonna kill that dog" on D20 it was terrifying!! 😂
Have you met Asmodeus?
@@OptionZero"To reach a hand down to somebody, they have to be BENEATH YOU. And I am beneath nobody."
He is all the bad guys.
half of brennans job is pretending to be villains
Yes!!! My favorite part of this bit is always the gasp and then how Zac flies away at the end and you captured it perfectly!
This scene is always one of my favorites cause Brennan is rarely ever shocked completely out of a scene, but Zac almost always manages to be the one to do it in the best way possible 😭
God. I was *GRIPPED* from start to finish. Brennan can improv an immaculate story off nothing but fonts, and I am truly floored by his abilities.
"What mercy do you think you will find in my heart?" is such a raw villain line, and the fact that Brennan pulled it out of nowhere in order to characterize an anthropomorphized text font makes it even better.
Bro really animated a whole video's worth of raindrops and splashy outlines. And that's _as well as_ dynamic shadows, lightning bolts, expressive faces and camera motions! From what I've seen of your workflow in your livestreams, that would have taken so much dedication! Time after time, you just keep finding ways to raise the bar with your animations.
Aaaaa dude that's so kind of you to say ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
If you animate a whole "Font Wars" series, I'm sure you could find good VAs!
They're using dialogue from Dropout
I was half expecting to hear Megalovania blast in the background as Zac escaped!! DBI's work always make my day better!
If you battle comic sans you're bound to have a bad time
The way you nailed Zac’s Windings Drop. Perfection 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
I still love Brennan in the span of like 5 seconds figuring out the fonts are generals waging war
I feel like that was Zacs input. The beginning from Brennan can easily be read as "shit talking socialite" (and tbh reads more like that to me than evil warlord?), only after Zach mentions the Centurion legions does it become *actually* warfare.
If so, props to Brennan for going all in so quickly!
My favorite monologue, by my favorite animator!
I'm looking forward to it already!
an underrated line is “I want to insinuate it’s going to be *fun*”
the sheer menace and double-meaning behind that fully improvised line always gets me good
the rain sounds? the new costume designs?? increbible
The climactic moment of “I struck down Helvetica” really hit me- the closeups and motions and emphasis was spot on. Made it feel as epic as the dialogue deserved! 👏👏
Brennan and Zac have such good improv chemistry.
Comic Sans is off to form an alliance with all the funny silly fonts, Wingdings, Webdings, Wingdings 2, Impact, Wingdings 3, Papyrus...
Ah yes.
*_The Bad Time Trio_*
the call of the void
"I struck down Helvetica." Is simultaneously the most raw and hilarious line I think I've ever heard. xD
I love how he just flutters away like Zac did in the original. It makes just as little sense now as it did then, but it never fails to make me laugh
I am an author with vision problems and for a long time, Comic Sans was the only font I could comfortably read. So several books and short stories were written, re-written, and proof read in Comic Sans, before being changed for publication.
So whenever someone wants to throw shade on this font, I want to break their nose. 😁
ZACH JUST FLYING OFF AT THE END OMG
Dbi you *genius*
No u
you put more animated expression in one and a half minutes than my face puts out in a week; magnificent work as always mr ink!!!
God same though tbf
New Centurions for a New Century is a really exquisite pun.
I want them to make a 'crown of candy'-like campaign around this sketch so badly...
The way you animate dead stares with little eye shakes is always sends me
I was not ready for Zac to take off like the audience in Dexter's Lab 😅 also the little extra cinematic boost via letterboxing is just *chefs kiss*
“I STRUCK down Helvetica”
Gold, pure gold!
You did a really good job with the animation capturing the emotions and facial movements, it was so dynamic!
I feel like Brennan's biggest missed opportunity in his monologue was not saying that the fields behind him were littered with the bodies of Fonts *Bolder* and more cunning.
There’s just something you bring to these bits with your expression work, the true mix of elated insanity on Brennan’s face when he talks about Helvetica…great job!
Putting Brennan in historically accurate Lorica Segmentata is.... SO awesome.
I like it, very well done! A little disappointed Zac didn't sprout wings, but they can't all look like what is in your head.
Edit: I also like how this was released near the time Karina drew "FontStars", I thought of this Make Some Noise clip immediately.
Karen lol
Ah yes, Karen. Karen Fork. The youngest and best member of Drewfee.
@@JazzyWaffles My Dyslexia strikes again.
Stellar work capturing Brennan's renowned malice and intimidation while talking about something entirely silly! Also, the rain ambiance was nice. Not as bright and prominent as it was before, lovely.
I tried putting it through a low-pass filter at first, but it just ended up too muddy, so this is literally just a bit quieter 😅 I'll figure out audio one day
@@DeepBlueInk Well it worked out!
You have such a knack for picking excellent clips to animate! They're so funny. And your visual jokes on top of that are *chef's kiss*
The nuances of their faces, the movements, the tension of Brennan's shadow eclipsing Zac--juxtaposed with Zac just fucking vanishing into the distance like someone chucking a toy soldier is so fucking funny to me. Beautifully done as always.
I swear, this is virtually a perfect portrayal of Julius Caesar's insane warmongering😂
Brennan: "What mercy do you think you will find in my heart? The fields behind me are littered with the bodies of fonts braver and more cunning than you. Baskerville lies dead in the dust. Apple Chancery is… nothing but a distant memory. I struck down HELVETICA!!!"
Julius Caesar:
Defeated Ariovistus, his first major adversary, leader of the Suebi peoples and the invader of Gaul, "Apple Chancery is… Nothing but a distant memory."
Defeated Vercingetorix, King of the Arverni, leader of the united peoples of Gaul, who fought against Rome and sought to free Gaul from Roman rule forever more, "Baskerville lies dead in the dust."
Defeated Pompey Magnus the Great, he who fought in the Social War and The Mithridatic Wars, he who played the decisive role in the Civil War against Sulla, he who defeated rebellions in Sicily, Africa, Italy, and Hispania, he who personally brought Asia Minor and the Near East under Roman Rule, "I struck down, HELVETICA!!!"
Zach here, could be no other than Brutus. A man of the people😌
i like that these two knew exactly which font they were and didn't have to say anything to come to an agreement
Amazing as always. Last bit on Webdings had me cackling.
Ok this absolutely amazing. The added rain affects, the very well done expressions, the dramatic atmosphere, and ESPECIALLY the flawless execution on the punchline. Absolutely insane.
I struck down ~HELVETICA~ hits so unusually hard ( 1:01 )
This was a very powerful skit from Make Some Noise that I felt was going to be very difficult for anyone to recreate and DeepBlueInk, my good sir, you have managed to blow it away!
For those wondering, Webdings and Wingdings are 2 different fonts! Similar styles though, wingdings is just the more well known, probably partially thanks to Undertale
Same as Comic sans and Papyrus due to the skeleton brothers using said fonts in their dialouge.
And the delivery of the wingdings matches with what sans would do
The amount of storytelling in the details in these animations are really what makes them works of genius. So enjoyable. So funny. Awesome work.
Even in a DeepBlueInk animation of a scene in which he's playing a FONT, Brennan finds a way to make me blush. I hope everyone finds themselves someone with the might and wit to strike down Helvetica.
So not only; and I am sure I have said this before; Brendan's personality meld so well with the way you animate emotions and such. But thanks to you, I watch so much by them now! The game shows, the singing, their news. It's all so damn funny!
Ayyyyy I'm so glad to hear! They deserve the attention!
This is the best one yet! I love the added rain and the centurions, and the fact that Zac doesn’t move as he flies, it’s excellent!
I love how weird Zac’s little flying away thing looks. It made no sense at the time, and it continues to make no sense now.
Brennan had a Julia's-Bobby-Hill expression throughout the whole bit...
The rain is a great addition, really builds up the atmosphere.
Some of Brennan's funniest moments are when he's thrown off his groove. To get pulled so fully out of the bit to track down this information.
Anything with Brennan is an automatic win. :D
This is so awesome! You captured the melodrama of the skit!
YES! I needed this! Ever since they did this bit, I wanted an animation where he flies away with the power of wingdings! Today is a good day.
Ohhhh I was super interested in how this would go down holding up the little banners for each of the fallen fonts was great.
Well 👏 done 👏 my 👏 dude!
We need an anime or manga that expands on this concept. It’d be pretty dope
I am so glad you animated that skit, it's definitely one of my favorites🤣
Good grief!! How the heck did you give Brennan *more* emotion?!?😅
Phenomenally done, like always!😁
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHORTS I’VE SEEN AND YOU JUST MADE IT A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER
At 1:19, the way Brennan’s bottom lip tucks behind his teeth when he says “fun” is just ::chefs kiss::
The animation makes it so much more intense and the facial expressions are to die for
Fantastic as always
After this, you've gotta do 6 confronting 7
Oh that would be so perfect! Love that scene!
I'd love to see HBO's new Rock Paper Scissors monologue from make some noise. The whole self - origami, or a 'googolplex of soldiers' bit was great.

I loved that episode, and I love the animation of it even more!
Thank you as always TDD for the love and the donation! ❤️
"I struck down Helvetica." Chills. Literal chills.
I can't stop watching this animation, Brennan's wonderful fantasy world building and the epic cinematography in this animation is just TOO GOOD.
Just the smile of disbelief when Brennen says, "I struck down Helvetica." Is in of itself worth the effort of this video!
You captured the emotional masterfully, Deepblue!
Thanks so much!!! ❤️
I can’t believe this is only 7 months old. It feels like this video and I have been friends for 20 years.
That eyebrow twitch at "I struck down Helvetica". Good sir I love your attention to detail
you really brought new life to the prompt, when I was watching it at first I didn't understand what was so good about it, but now I recognize both BleeM's amazing lore, and Zac's less is more here, thank you for allowing me to understand what all the hype was about.
I love that Zac knew the one way to possible stand a chance against Brennan is to invoke his greatest fear.... NOT KNOWING SOMETHING
I was so excited when I saw that you were animating this, when I recently re-watched the episode I thought that it would make a perfect Deep Blue Ink animated. And I was right! This is perfect as always.
“New centurions for a new century” referencing the font New Century Schoolbook, brilliant line
This is so good, such a gift, thank you DeepBlue!!😂😂
I know you don't really stray from Brennan animations from Make Some Noise, but the recent "Jack asks Rose for space on the Door" would be amazing!
Also, this is awesome.
This clip has become a running joke in the Graphic Design department of my college. And I am partially to blame for starting it.
zach's retort/retreat is SO fucking funny he is a master of waiting for just the right moment to strike which means he's always sooooo good with Brennan who can always monologue to create the world
"i struck down helvetica" goes so unreasonably hard
Fun fact: Comic Sans is actually very legible in particular to dyslexic people since the letters have few repeated shapes. The asymmetry and imperfect style helps make the letters hard to get confused over.
So Comic Sans IS a man of the people, all people.
