Haha good point! I think it also comes from the inside. Joy, playfulness, curiosity, openness, laughter - these are youthful qualities at ANY age. Also, why I would get Botox on my frown lines, but I’m never letting anyone touch my “crows feet “ - I’ve been lmao my whole life and made those lines & proud!
But all kids dress like grandpas these days! That’s my boomer observation anyway…😁 And they stare at me, grandma/pa possible age but don’t dress like it? Even as I literally own two things I still wear form my grandpa… You kids are so confussing!
Yeah that's true, although I do think it's fine to start doing small preventative things in your late teens. But by that I mean, exfoliating and focusing on hydration and sunscreen. I'm almost 28 and started retinol at around 24, which I think is a decent age considering collagen production starts to go down in your mid twenties. But, 10 year olds? Heck, even 16 year olds, worrying about aging? Their skin is already so good!! (Excluding acne, which is quite difficult to deal with)
Anti-aging skincare doesn't do all that much to someone's skin if it's already visibly aged. You are supposed to start *before* you get wrinkles etc. That being said, people are taking it wayyy too far these days and it needs to be talked about, especially when you see literal children worry about it. All someone who cares for this sort of thing needs is a healthy, reasonable skincare routine: wear sunscreen before leaving the house (especially during the summer months), cleanse (just lukewarm water and maybe a bit of soap depending on your skin), hydrate and exfoliate depending on your skin's needs. That's 4 products max and you can find decent ones pretty inexpensively these days. You can also make them at home using everyday ingredients and minimal effort.
@@chiefpurrfect8389Or just wash your face with water. Depends on your skin. My skin became so much better after I dropped all those gentle products and started just using water and showering as normal.
@@chiefpurrfect8389Oh I agree! I guess it all varies, right? I hadn't started to get wrinkles yet, but I figured it was a good age to begin preventative measures right before I hit my mid twenties. I suppose the point I was trying to make was: anti-aging prevention is good, but don't take it to the extreme where you're doing it so young you're more likely to do harm than good, especially because you can go overboard with actives. Children should be allowed to just have fun and not worry about that stuff! I think for kids, just getting them to wash their face and put on sunscreen should be enough, and that's honestly mostly for health reasons since you don't want sun damage to accumulate too bad.
I feel confident "the entire cast of cheers" example is flawed. the guy who played "norm" was in his 40s, not 34yo. The show ran until 1993 and the photo used was clearly from the end of the series which means he would have been around the age of 45yo, NOT 34yo.
I looked it up, because I didn't believe it either. But the photo from season 1, when they were those ages, is not much better, "Norm" and "Cliff" still look a full decade older than their age. The only one who looks noticeably younger at their first appearance compared to last is Woody Harrelson at 24, and he looks 26/27. But maybe that was intentional on the creators part, to make the clientele and staff seem older?
i wasnt allowed to tan and i couldnt wear make up and i think that is the only reason i was spared. like me and my geeky hs friends all look pretty young still. the perks of not being cool as kids (graduated in 2011 so it was the Era)
Not only that but looking older or watching yourself age reminds you that you will die one day and aging is putting you closer to that day. 😂 To keep myself from being sad about that part I just try to remember aging is a gift because not everyone gets to do it. Sometimes that works. 😅
@@user-xm3wd8tz6d I mean it’s a good method. And aging is a gift I suppose. How could anyone being barely an adult expect to look better after fillers etc, though. 🤔 If she had had a disfigured face, a very crooked nose and had that fixed, alright, she could have expected ro look better afterwards. But procedures that are supposed to make an old face look younger, applied to a young face- what was the expectation, I wonder? 🤷♀️
@@murphychurch8251 they aren't only meant to look younger, she wanted to look "hotter" so she overfilled her lips, probably adjusted her jawline and cheeks to look like Kylie Jenner, etc. It's not always the pursuit of more youth
She needs to dissolve them fr. Her face could probably go back to normal or close to normal considering she still has elasticity to it. That and moisturizer and not tanning as much would probably benefit her. She’s not stuck looking like that though. She can still fix it
But listen to her, though. She's fully convinced it looks good, and I think the whole cosmetic industry has to buy into the same hivemind belief. Otherwise, all the workers and customers would need to admit to themselves that they are making big mistakes on repeat. They gotta lie to themselves, otherwise that's have to change an entire lifestyle and set of values.
Chelsalay Tiktok made me want to scream SO bad. She kept posting and asking AGAIN and AGAIN "How old do I look ~now~" LAWD. It was so desperate and sad. Like this whole trend was sad.
personally i also don’t think that someone thinking you’re 5-6 years older than your real age is even that bad. like age can be really hard to guess accurately based on appearance

I’m feeling so fucking called out as the resident grandpa of the group who is routinely mistaken for being a teenage girl until I got tattoos-which helps prove my age at a glance without getting out my literal ID. I know kids can get tattoos and it’s not a guarantee but I’ve found it helps with confusion. Less kids approach me asking to be friends with me on social media now which is awesome because it was weird having to parent other people’s children have to explain I’m in my 20s on my way home from university and I’m not going to befriend a child in their bloody high school uniform💀I understand kids want to make friends with people who dress trendy but if you’re a kid reading this please don’t try to get strangers social media’s if they’re not also a kid-and if you’re not sure you should ask, and be cautious! I understand I can pass as a highschooler but I’m much older-worries me if these kids come up to me asking to be friends I’m no threat but someone could be :(
Indeed...facewise I thought she was my age, I'm in my 40s. 😳 It probably doesn't help that young people today are wearing the styles that were trending before I was a teen.
I remember when I was 15 and i don't know why people told me that i looked 30(?!) and now I'm 20 and people say i look 14-17. I don't understand people
Same, but no one ever pinned me as 30, more like 20-22 because, well, when you're a teenager you want to appear "cooler" and older, and especially if you're brought up as a woman you go a little bit too far with the heels, makeup, etc. Now it's fun to see my classmates at uni (master's program) react when I tell them my age.
And sometimes you just kinda "age into your face", if you know what I mean. Like you always kinda looked old but suddenly you get stuck there and your face doesn't age for a while. Happens with height too, I was huge for a 13 year old but I never grew after that lol
Yeah people regularly assumed I was older when I was a teen probs partly cos I was a bit of an old soul and partly because for some reason people see you are a 6 foot tall and are like ah yes a young adult. Idk why, people usually get tall when they are teens. But now I'm the one friend that gets carded the most at bottle shops and such despite being older than most of them. I guess the height trick doesn't work as well on them 😂
I’m 37 and I feel very lucky to be 37. I’m not ancient or falling apart, I have some smile lines and wrinkles but I’ve lived a good life so far. I smile and laugh and cry and scrunch my face and I won’t spend one more ounce of stress or 1 more minute worrying about what I’ll look like if I do. My husband is 7 years younger than me and no one looks at us funny or assumes we’re not the same age. A lot of my friends didn’t make it to 37. I have friends that were in accidents that won’t walk again. One that had a stroke that can’t move half of their face. Others who died from overdoses, a few from the war in Iraq, or accident or any number of things. I have 2 daughters and I refuse to let them see me worry so much about aging that I put myself in unnecessary harm to try and hide my age from the world.
Also yeah the kids will do it. I looked great for my age until my daughter who is now 4 turned 1. My parents have since passed away so I haven’t had any help with her. The last time my mother in law babysat was 13 months ago. I haven’t had one night of sleep without my kids waking me up at least a couple times and my youngest sleeps with me. It’s the lack of sleep that made me look a lot older. And the fact that I don’t get help outside of school hours and I got sick with a chronic heart inflammation issue about a year ago. All of that took its toll.
@@SwedePotato314😢 Please take good care of you. I have 2 kids and our in laws and my mum live in different cities so we go there only on a holiday, no babysitters. We both work from home but when the kids are not in kindergarten the WFH is stressful. I cook 2-3 meals each day. It gets better when the kids grow bigger and sleep through the night. I knew I have to do something to have more energy so I started to run, exercise more and also take vitamins. We need to take care of us no matter how hard it is or how little time we have for ourselves.
If you look younger than you are, people will ALWAYS tell you. If you don't get that when you disclose your age, don't ask the internet, you'll be disappointed. Ageing is not bad in any way and we should stop fearing it, although your skin cells will definitely thank you in the future if you make a habit of wearing sunscreen.
Yeah, the only benefit of wearing sunscreen is to shield your skin cells from developing cancer and accumulating excessive melanin, nothing more than that really, and it’s definitely not going to help you to look 10 years younger like some of the comments here are saying😂
Over two and a half years I told my coworkers my age (30, ,31, 32) multiple times and every time they were shocked I was in my 30s. My 27 year old coworker thought I was younger than her and it was so flattering tbh
Agree, my mom is 70 but when she had to go the ER for a stomach bug, after the doctor put on the IV and rechecked her chart, he ordered an ECG. "I thought you're still in your 50s"
I've been told I look young for my age for half of my life. It's actually kinda annoying sometimes. Like I got carded at the movie theater for a long while. 😅 Or coworkers who will be condescending to me because, "you're young, what do you know" 🙄 Now that I'm almost 40, it happens less often but, only because people think I'm in my early 20's.
People do really, really love to point out how young you look, if you do! I get it so often i've made a game of it. It's forever amusing to see the looks of shock when i reveal i am at least a decade older than they thought. I blend in so well with the young'uns xD But i love pointing out the signs of my aging, like my hands, my forehead, and the fact that i'm getting gray hairs. I love these signs tbh, and i celebrate them.
The girl that was shocked they told her 45 doesn't look 45 but she does look a full decade older 😭 Like what was she expecting when she got procedures meant for people in their 30s ??
I honestly think that's it. When I see faces with tons of obvious fillers and other procedures, it reminds me of all the older women from decades ago who were trying to look younger by getting extensive work done. Now every time I see that "look", my brain automatically ads a decade or two to their ages. To each their own though, you do you people. Whatever makes your inner self happy.
It's definitely the fillers combined with the blonde and tan because she posted a video of her putting on makeup, and before she put on makeup, she looked a lot younger.
The only problem with this is y’all probably have no idea of what 45 looks like by now!!? Honestly I barely can tell… some of my classmates from school (the only people whose age I can be roughly certain) - look anywhere between 30 and 60!! It’s wild.. Much younger people who appear much older, most of it has to do with their style or behavior. In some cases excess cosmetic enhancements. Overall, though if I saw a naked face out of the shower, I probably would be better than chance telling someone in their 20s from someone in their 40s. At least I would hope so. The extreme obsession youth and youthful looks is what’s really different. When we were young, we just were young, not worried about not looking young soon or whatever. Geez even thinking about these things would be so foreign. I feel bad for youngsters these days I really do. I really hope you find your way out of this mess because beyond don’t smoke and be a healthy weight/nutrition and don’t get sunburned it is hugely genetic and not in your control and nor is it an achievement to look younger. You have so much more to contribute to the universe than a wrinkle free skin!!
Gonna be honest, it’s all about your energy. I constantly get told I can’t be 29 and that I’m mistaken for early twenties, and I honestly believe it boils down to energy- I smile, I’m bouncy, I’m friendly and have a pep in my step- all of that makes it seem like I’m younger than I really am. It’s all about your energy and how you portray yourself to others. Whenever I’m sick or have a weird day, people don’t ever ask how old I am because I’m acting my age. I don’t mean act like a baby or toddler, nothing like that, but simply making it seem like you have energy and aren’t beaten down by the world goes the extra step in making people think you’re younger than you are!
This makes sense! I have the same attitude, very outgoing, cheery etc. I have, especially of recently for some reason, been told several times that I look mid-20. I'm 31:)
Yeah I think one of the major reasons I get clocked for being a lot younger is because I'm energetic and still excited about finding new music or going to concerts or even just knowing in general wtf is going on today lol
Very true. I turned 40 this year and I still look and feel in my mid to late 20's. I started skincare when I was 12 because I used to have -- sometimes still do -- extremely oily skin, which made me break out from time to time. Oily skin keeps the skin younger and plumper for a longer time. While none of us can stop time, we can at least just live our best lives and not let a number determine when we hang everything up to "feel old."
@@btb554 All you need to do is start some skincare and you'll be good once the results show. Drink more water to plump up the skin and make your eyes less sunken in. Dehydration does a lot more than just give you dry lips or skin. It can fill out your face in some areas and give you a glow.
Why did people look older back in the day? My theory: they all had kids young, drank heavy, and oh yeah they smoked. They smoked, everyone they knew smoked, everywhere they went was filled with smoke. The worked in offices full of smoke, they caught planes full of smoke, they went to highschool and sucked on a few packs a day.
I had my first child at 21 and at that age people thought I was in high school. When I was 28 people thought I was 23. I didn't think having children young always ages you. In some ways being around children keeps you young.
Yes and no, I think. Depending on where you live, you might've used tanning oil, to get that brown/red, instead of sunburn. But something to protect from UV rays completely? Not that common. (Evidence: my Dad who was in his teens and 20s in the 70s and said so.) @@modkip25
@@modkip25nope people would use tanning oil to purposefully tan in the sun. as a teen my boomer grandmother would lay on the roof with her friend covered in cooking oil to tan. she always says she wishes she used spf sooner.
i knew a girl who looked, like, 30-35 by the time she was a teenager… some people just have mature faces tbh. it’s not even “oh you look *ollllddd*” it’s more like “yeah you look mature”.
I had someone in my class who looked mid-30s when he was 18...now we are mid-40s, he still looks the same. I looked 15 when I was 18, continued to look a lot younger (5-10 years) throughout my 20s and until late 30s and then bam! Caught up with my age. Now I am mid-40s and look like it. You never know how things will be going for you, that's how life is! 😆
I was the reverse. In 52 but I am constantly mistaken for late 30s. Cool now not so much when I was 16, guy did not want to date a chick that literally looks like their 10 yo kid sister, even in my 20s……on the cups of not being cool. I looked too young g to be in the club or bar.
Same! A few years ago, I turned 30 and the girl I worked with I thought acted really immature but I assumed we were the same age because she looked it. No, she told me she was 16. And I swore she was at least 30. And then her mom came in. It was actually in her 30s and I thought she was in her 50s. Genetics matter a lot.
There are so many factors that influence how "old" we look. Face shape, hair, body shape/weight, style, skin, posture or even context! I am in my mid-30s and I have a faculty position at a university. Often, in casual clothes, people address me like I'm a student. I don't think I look extremely young and when I'm out with my kid, students don't assume I'm a student anymore. Same person, same style, different context. That's why, when I am giving a lecture in a more formal context, like an inaugural lecture or a keynote talk, I tend to wear what I call Stella Gibson core to look more mature. Being a shorter woman with feminine features in a scientific field strongly dominated by men and at conferences where most of them are older and have more accumulated reputation, I want to consciously avoid being mistaken for a student because it unfortunately still can make a difference.
And sometimes it's better to look older. I had a friend who was a pediatrician. He looked VERY young for his age (just lean and healthy and smiled a lot). Once he started to get a little gray hair and his wife mentioned he could dye it he said "No way". I got it right off. Looking older implies more experience, and he had less panicky parents arguing with him about medical advice for their kids. If he'd known that he might have had his hair given gray highlights a decade earlier. LOL
It's her hair and glasses, they're very 80s so of course she looks older. she does also just have some features that are older looking, she looks tired because she has kids, but she has smaller lips than some which can look aging as lips thin as you age. The grey hair doesn't really matter, her hair is just a little frizzy (I get it) so it looks older/more frazzled or run down and tired often reads as older. I look older when I'm tired, I don't think it ultimately matters that much but it is so funny that she's wearing these Rose West ass glasses and wonders why she looks older! It's purely just the glasses and hair and on a much smaller scale looking tired and having thin lips.
That Cheers pic was from season 11. The ages are from season 1. They are all 11 years older than the given ages in the pic. Except Kristie Alley. She was 36 in that pic. Steve Martin in father of the bride was 50. Diane Keaton was 49.

Hi fellow, I’m 43 as well, and I also look younger, all my male partners are 5-7 years younger and we look the same. Hope to look like this until menopause and beyond 😂
For me it often doesn't seem to matter what I wear. I've always looked younger, and I train in Karate where we all wear the same uniform. When we had a guest Sensei, they would often get confused when they split the class into children (under 16) and adults, and I stepped across to the adults side. Someone from my club would see the look, know exactly what they were thinking and respond "Yeah she's 27/28/30 etc, crazy right?". To which the shocked response was usually something along the lines of "No way! I thought she was 15, How do you look so young?" etc to which I always just replied with a shy shrug, "good genes and sunscreen?". I used to get embarrassed by it, but the older I get, the more grateful I am for it. ☺I just smile when I'm asked for ID now and say thank you.😂
Same. I’m 37 and people are always surprised when I tell them my age. Usually they think mid to late 20’s. I think the key is good sleep, good genes, and drinking a collagen supplement. I’ve mixed some (withinUS brand) in a drink a day for the last 7 years. So far, my skin is still very smooth.
@@KassieR329 yes definitely!! she looked for sure mid-50s in the second video. I think the hair color and styling, the sweater, and her face just looking heavy like she's been through a lot of stress just make her look older. I'm sure it's from years of parenting tho lol, nothing wrong with it

And The shock i get when i see a "2" on the ID of these people is insane! Now aipha will be interesting cause these rugrats Have skincare routines at 9 years old
It has to be so confusing and kind of frustrating as a bartender. Where I live the drinking age is 18, and I still get asked an ID, one night even at three different places. I'm 34. But I remember when I was a teenager I wanted to look older too, and everyone else wanted the same, especially to go out and drink. Honestly I think eventually this will also pass for Gen Z because they're in the middle of that phase (as the youngest is 12, and the oldest is 27, they're in the middle of that particular phase). Gen A won't be much of a difference I think, it's the same story. Heck, if they are concerned about looking young now, you just know their trend will be to look older just to be different. It's the usual cycle of growing up.
I’ve heard you’ll actually ruin your skin by using anti aging skincare when you don’t need it. At most kids might need sunscreen and a light moisturizer, MAYBE.
Im a younger millennial who wasn't huge on sunscreen for my face until recently. I have had problem skin and difficult-to-manage acne from early puberty. Sunscreens and most products made my skin even worse. Now turning 30, I still have problem skin but thankfully I am able to tolerate sunscreen and it is much more manageable. Dermatologist says is is in my genes. Im surprised that even tho I am a newer sunscreen user, my gen Z coworkers think I'm in my early 20's and they all think I'm a new graduate 😂 This has already been said, but aging is a privilege. I turn 30 this year and I'm so excited about it! Looking forward to my 30's and all they may bring.
@VergilClapsSuccubiCheeks maybe not dying young is a privilage? In the end, there's a lot of young people that didn't have a chance to enjoy their youth
@VergilClapsSuccubiCheeksit absolutely is. Some people I’ve loved had that taken away from them. Once you realize the beauty of aging, you see a completely different perspective. I wish my loved ones also had the joy to grow old
Just work out geez Edit: I seem to have upset some people. I was joking around and wasn't being serious. There are many reasons why someone might have knee pain. It's not always a lack of proper exercise. Sometimes it's because of improper exercise. Sometimes it's completely out of the person's control. Everyone should do guided, situation appropriate, and safe resistance / strength training. Solely running is not great. Weightlifting > running. For everyone, young and old. I rest my case.

The blonde haired woman that does all the fillers, she does look like she’s in her 30s plus. And I think that’s because younger people don’t realize that the nasal label folds really age you more than some slight wrinkles around your eyes or on your forehead. Those will age you so much more than crows feet. And quite frankly, when I saw when she stated her age, I was shocked because she looks really old. The first lady who was in her late 20s constantly asking do I look 36 she had the same problem. As well as her hair and her clothing. I’m not saying she needs to wear make up but her skin looked dull. And in your 20s your skin shouldn’t look that dull, I do think that the first lady needs a really good skin care routine and maybe she should spruce up her hair a little bit. but I only say that because she’s distressed over the fact that people think she looks 36. If she doesn’t wanna look 36, you need to take care of your skin, you have to get rid of the Grey in your hair, you have to wear clothing that doesn’t make you look frumpy all the time. even Billie Eilish who wears oversized kind of comfortable clothes that could look really frumpy on people, she does fun things with her hair and she wears make up and she takes care of her skin. That’s why Billie Eilish looks like she’s in her early 20s which is how old she is.
A lot of these fillers/procedures make people look like they are old people trying to look young. Obviously everyone is free to do what they want with their body, but that's just my observation.
My boyfriend is 35 and sometimes I get a little sad when he talks negatively about aging, he's so incredibly beautiful and I especially adore his crows feet when he smiles/laughs. Aging isn't a bad thing and seeing the years on someone's face is almost poetic in my opinion
At age 65 I have to facepalm a bit over someone worrying about how old they look in their 20's and 30's, but I suppose it's all very relative. I remember in college some "fancy boy" type getting hair plugs one summer because his hairline was receding. I'm just happy when things work well...
I'm about to turn 40 and I promise you are not old. I still don't have a clue what I'm doing or what I want to do with my life. I don't wear makeup. I still feel beautiful and saying that 36 is old or that 40 is old is dumb. I think this is the best time of our lives. We have more money and still are healthy to enjoy life. Don't let social media mess with you mind.
I'm not good at English, but I would like to point out that it's not always about the face or skin care. I'm 30, my brother is 23, but many people think he's older than me. He's a big guy with a serious face, and I'm a short lady with pink hair and bright clothes. That's all
Being short is part of it. I was carded routinely into my early 40s. I’m 4”9, Native American genetics. (It’s a blessing, really; you’ll miss it when it stops.)
I never wore sunscreen. I tanned in high school. I then moved to Hawaii, CA, and FL, where I lived at the beach. I was night into wayer sports ( still am). I never wore sunscreen because sunscreen fries me (I'm alergic). I moved to the Midwest and bought a boat. So, I continued to live in the sun and I continue to tan twice a month in a tanning bed. I'm 40 and e everyone thinks in at least 10 years younger. I have great genes. The women in my family look great. My grandma is 91 but looks much younger. I've never smoked, never been a heavy drinker, no drugs, no kids. I'm fit and have long blonde hair. Maybe those are factors?
Yeah that lady has a face that doesn't hold as much fat in the cheeks naturally, and it makes her look wiser. She needs to lean into knowing science facts and she'd get more clout because she just looks like she should know stuff. She could also easily put on old people make up and look 50 and people wouldn't think twice.
i didnt start looking old in my opinion until i had a baby at 29. Its all downhill after that. 32 this year. For sister in the first clip, its definitely her nasolabial creases around her mouth and the grey hair that are aging her.
I know a 23 year old who has two kids and she looks 17. I don't think having kids is the issues. It's more lack of taking care through stress and then those things like grey hairs, creases, and cosmetic surgeries that are associated with older people.
@@santyvalenshaving kids is stressful, and leaves you with less time to take care of yourself though. Pregnancy is physically , emotionally, economically demanding, and so is being responsible for another human's wellbeing.
@@TabeaSrn I agree with you, as mentioned in my previous comment I have a child and it didn’t age me but I’m pretty sure it’s to do with my genes. If I didn’t have the good genes I’d look about 80! Motherhood definitely ages women, even if the baby is easy
36 here, and everyone at my job thinks I’m in my 20s. I think a lot of it can contribute to overall mental attitude and just keeping up a healthy natural life style. No smoking and no drugs, no tanning yourself to death.
People think I'm younger too..but I'm very anxious, smoke and drink. I honestly don't know what it is. But the amount of times I've shocked my coworkers and how dumbfounded they seem makes me think they're not faking it to make me feel better... But being my age shouldn't be anything to feel bad about.
Yeah and generally being open/friendly is a young trait that I think millennials and older has had “trained” into us, while younger generations are more open with their negative feelings which is a good thing (imo).
I smoke I drink I eat Taco Bell, and at 30 I still can’t buy cigarettes with out my ID, they make me leave and go get it 😂😂😂😂 I looked older at 15 then I do now it’s odd TBH but I love it
I have gotten to the point in my life where I, at the age of 26, want to become Miss Havisham. Sit around in a giant house wearing my wedding dress, never seeing the sun, and thinking about the men who have wronged me. THAT is how I want to age.
As an ageing person I suggest to try to let go of men (or any people) who’ve done me wrong part. It’s self limiting and also pointless. If they’ve done wrong, they have. Those who haven’t done you wrong, haven’t and there are billions of them. Even if you don’t wanna have anything to do with them, the mindset is both irrational and hardly helpful.
looking 16 when you're in your mid-30s is actually overrated. like it's nice to look youthful or whatever but you also have to deal with the frustration of no one ever taking you seriously and it's honestly not a good trade off.
I’m currently 30, but look like I’m 20-21. It makes dating difficult/annoying because older guys think I’m way younger (and will treat me differently-almost childlike) and guys that are younger than me are initially interested but seem to change their minds when they find out I’m on average 2-3yrs older than them.😭😭 Feels like a dang blessing and a curse.
@@unfiltered8407 the "being treated like a child" thing was more of what I was complaining about. it's like, when you look like a minor, people treat you like a minor whether they know your age or not
Yes. With 14 I liked the thought of being in my 40s because I was lucky to meet women that age that I admired for the way they were carrying themselves with such a calm and knowing elegance in comparison to myself as a teenager. They seemed to have achieved things in life and went through enough turmoil over the years that helped them to put things into a more differentiated and less emotionally overwhelming perspective. They had interesting jobs, money to spend wisely, their priorities straight..etc. When I turned 30 I didn't mind and actually see only advantages. I get taken more seriously (especially at work), the few men I meet that only want women in their twenties sort themselves out more often now while other men in their 30-40ies are now more interested in me when they realise I am not actually 25. I seriously don't get why so many men think that the majority wants much younger women in their teens or twenties. I felt the same when I was young because that was obviously the only type of men approaching me, but the older I got the more 30+ yo men are interested in me, and from those the relation of really interesting guys to non- interesting guys is much higher. There are tons of 30+ yo men that are kind (in general, not just being nice to women they find attractive), open-minded, have learnt to deal with their emotions in a way that never leads to explosive anger, know how to talk things out instead of arguing...etc. Relationships for me are so much more fun if both lived long enough to learn those qualities. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved my twenties and would do it mostly again the same way. I had great relationships then too, but I wasn't as balanced and self-reflected, as were my then boyfriends. Aging while having a good life is a fine experience :)
this, tbh. i'm 36 and look early 20s at best. i have a masters degree, am a veteran, and i still get treated like a child. sure it's nice that i have "youth" given it's viewed positively in terms of attractiveness, i guess... but i also feel like i have to be hyper-prepared and serious in order to have peers and older adults respect my experience and education.
Back in the 80s everyone tanned carelessly and smoked.. And even if you didn’t smoke, you still smoked because it was even allowed on airplanes like.. wtf ?!everything before the 90s was just like the Wild West no surprise they all looked like the Marlboro man by 23
I tanned, smoked, and drank in the ‘80s, ‘90s, and part of the ‘00s. People still mistake me for my daughters. Sometimes I’ll be out with my youngest daughter, and people will start to say something about "your sister" and we’ll have to correct them. This last couple years have been rough, and the stress and living with constant health problems have started to show, but I still look easily 20 years younger her than people I went to school with… it’s not genetics, most of my elder family look every bit their age, and sometimes more. I finally started doing proper skincare at 38, because I had adult acne, and it was horrible to deal with, but even now, I’m not necessarily on my routine every day, I’m old, I’m tired lol. I have no idea how I escaped as cleanly as I have so far, it must be the witchcraft 🧙🏻♀️ 😂
@@danielsedan You gotta look up that billionnaire CEO who is taking hormones to reduce aging and I'm sure he was using his own kids as a blood bank and getting transfusions with their young blood to slow down aging
@jackdar1iipper you mean how men often get bullied and mocked for balding, being too skinny/fat/muscular etc. Again, there will always be someone that thinks you are ugly/dislikes your physical appearance. If you allow that to influence you and damage your life, that is on you. Have a nice day!
I don't think it's too far off though because, looking at kelsey grammer, that's where his hair was sometime in his early 30s. So all of them are probably 3-5 years older than there, and some easily look 10+ older
Seeing this pop up on my feed made me chuckle. I was carded buying alcohol two days ago. I'm 35 and legal age here is 19 and it made my day lol Though I do have a baby face so it make is hard to pinpoint my age sometimes.
Referencing newspapers helps a lot. Using actual words that aren't said on the Internet like lovely, vernacular, serendipitous, fortnight(the time), etc. be warned though, people from Tumblr might identify you as one of their own if you use specific rare words like Overmorrow. Which also might age you because that's so old. Either way, if you mix up words enough you can improve your diction and make it so that no one understands you unless they've read quite a bit.
@@sylvia470if you are 35 then you should know that smoking causes damage lol, it's literally proven that you will "age" quicker. Some other effect from smoking are. Dry skin, uneven pigmentation, baggy eyes, saggy jawline and deeper facial wrinkles. Ofcourse everyone experiences it differently but it WILL make you look more aged the older you get because it literally damages your cells.
Not true, smoking for years never aged me. And I actually think more millennials used/use to smoke rather than Gen Z as when I was a teenager is was 'popular' to smoke and you got bullied for non smoking and now it's the opposite. 😆
Love this! We need to stop asking people & talking about their age. This is from someone who is usu much older than people guess. People talk about my age a lot! Saying thank you is the easy way to deal with it but in general, I'm tired of talking about aging and associated expectations. These days, everyone is diff. We have lots of differences w/ nutrition, genetics, lifestyle, activity, $, environment, interventions, personal style, single/no kids vs family. I feel like talking about age puts people in boxes & can cause more obsessive behavior/thinking vs natural aging & whatever that looks like for the individual.
I think some people just have features that make them automatically look more mature or younger regardless of their skincare, genetics and lifestyle. Like the 29 year old woman who looks like 36 just kinda has a face matching an older person. Maybe it's because she has droopy eyelids, thin lips and a bigger nose, you know kinda like the opposite of the baby schema. Like people (especially women I think) look automatically younger than they are if they have big doe eyes, a small nose, full lips and round cheeks. Also body types / sizes. There is just a type of figure that I personally associate with a 30+ mom of 3. Also wearing colours, makeup, hair colour that doesn't match your skin tone. I feel like the woman with the botox does look older because of the botox but also the tone of her hair makes her look kinda old.
Yeah. It's kinda sad but even young folks can have a big nose and small eyes and look older, which comes to show how messed up our aesthetics are nowadays. We all aren't designed to look like anime or Disney characters.
This is it exactly. She has a strong nose, and grooves to her mouth which make us perceive her as older. In the first video she looked really quite old and ill too in the grey hoody. It didn't suit her at all. I would have placed her in her 50s. In the second video she looks brighter and better, but still way past 29. My mother is very similar. She has a large nose, went grey early, and had always looked older than she is.
A totally anecdotal thing I noticed is when I snoop on ppl I went to high school with, all of the ppl who followed the expectations others had for them look way older than their age, while the ppl who chased their own dreams look much younger. There were a lot of wealthy families at my school, and they all set expectations for their kids- they were told where to go to university, what to study, what career path to take, all to maintain the family image. Every single one of those ppl look miserable as adults. A couple of them did exactly what they wanted to do, regardless of their family expectations, and all of their pictures they look youthful and happy with their lives. Like I said, totally anecdotal, but i definitely still think there’s something to it
My aunt said the same thing. She went to a High School reunion and she said, her friends who stayed in the same town and took over their parents businesses, got married early and don't even really travel for vacation looked way older than the people who left after school, have unstable/random careers, had kids out of wedlock and travel a lot. At my High School Reunion (Class of 2004) the people who looked old were basically the people who smoked cigarettes and weed behind the school and hung around the pretentious, smoke filled, drugs-are-okay bars even as teenagers. Alcohol and smoking ages you, la di da. I looked younger for a long time, when I had a kid, I suddenly looked my age. haha.
Though there is some logic to your opinion.. it can be the opposite too. I led a grounded life, studied hard, had an arranged marriage. I may not have an exciting life but I am thoroughly content.. have 2 amazing kids, a loving, steadfast, slightly boring husband (but genuinely dedicated to me and my kids).. Girls my age seem more excited and younger than me as they still party, dress well and go out a lot. I mostly stay home, prefer charity over shopping and dress modestly. You might think I look old (and I do) but I am content. The point being, the people who look old may not be bothering to put up much effort as they are content with the way they are...
Stress factor is one of it. I believed there’s beauty trends that kids used as “role model”. The kardashian and ariana grande must be in part of these. People just don’t want to be “white skin”? Why is that? While in my country people wants to be white, consume shit tons thing till their kidneys damaged. Celebrities play a lot role in this. Millennial look older too in 2000s lol
12:13 honestly with this lady it’s everything. The to dark spray tanned orangy face combined with the cool blond tone that really doesn’t match the skin tone, makes it look leathery, the fake lashes plus overfilled lips and puffy face from probably filler. Get the right foundation for your skin tone, get a hair Color that complements it (this forced blonde just looks cheap) and take of those lashes, she would instantly look younger imo
Growing up in the 90s did make sitcom people in their 30s look so old . I love Seinfeld but everyone looked so dumpy even compared to how people in the 90s actually dressed.
@@Funeral_Mannequin nah they did her dirty she was always in a dumpy fit. She’s so fine that she kinda transcends the bad hair and outfits lol I love her
My coworker thought I was 25 when I was 20 and an airport security guard thought I was under 18 when I was 22. It’s never on the nose because aging is complex.!
I think a lot depends on other things too, your hairstyle, hair color, what make up you're wearing or not wearing, your clothes, voice and actions. I see 11-12 years old who purposely try to look 20 years old or older so it always looks weird. That's what happens when you blidnly follow influencer fashion I guess.
I'm an actor, and I once had two callbacks on the same day: one for a 19 year old and one for a 52 year old. And, on that very day, I decided to stop wondering how old people thought I looked
Yes! Anyone past like 25 could be perceived as -/+5 yrs from their actual age and like...that's normal?? Idk. I'm 33, I have a brother 5 yrs older than me and another 5 yrs younger, and I feel like we all look the same age tbh.
Size of the face. You can have the smoothest skin and full colored hair but if that lower facial third expands it moves you out of that late teens early 20s look
Dude, smh, why are these gen z vanity cultists gaslighting themselves into thinking there is a generational looks-war between alpha, zoomers, and millenials? They're in an existential struggle with nature and need to stop creating fake enemies.
As a 29 millinial, I always get told I still look to be in my early 20s. These kids are so nice! It also helps I barely drank alcohol, never smoked (besides doing weed in my later ages), having my first this year, and hid my gray hairs well. 😅
Same here 😂 I'm 33 and I get told I look like I'm still in my 20s, but then again, I'm 5'0" and I have a baby face. And like you, I never smoked or drank.
I had nothing but this experience at my old job last year when working for security. 😂 There were a good amount of young ones on the job, most in their early 20s. When asked the question and I said I was 27, they all looked at me with much surprise, thinking I was the same age of them. Keep in mind, there was one guy at 23 who looked significantly older (I mean past mid 30s and he was out of shape as well..) I even had this experience at 21 during a group interview for a retail job I worked previously. Frankly, it’s all genetics and a moderately good healthy style.
i'm also 29, i still get asked "is your mom here?" whenever i opened door for guest. maybe is because i'm short? idk. when i look at my no-makeup face there's already sign of maturity (dark eyebags😅), and i kinda feel i look younger when i wear makeup but people that i met have mixed opinion (some of them would think im uni student, some thought that im just typical career woman)
people just have wayyyy unrealistic ideas of what others should look like at a certain age. Also being chronically online and not knowing what people actually look like without filters and editing, they should go outside time to time.
yeah thought the same, she could look much younger, i dont get why she doesnt dye her hair, if shes 29 and already getting gray hair, thats crazy. Yeah she shoudl definetly get some new glasses... although getting guessed 35 while your 29 is really no insult.
Yeah, the first video has the "I am not old, only chronically tired" vibe, the second video has a "I am old and trying to look younger" vibe which influences a lot how we see someone
@@soom878 Maybe she likes her hair and don't want to get it colored. I have a friend who got grey hair when she was 21, it's genetics and she doesnt care about it, leaves it as is. Also, this thing with age.. it's genetic as well. I get that using botox and maybe stressing out ur skin with different chemicals (anti-aging creams etc) plats a big roll, but genetics are very important. So some people will look younger, others older, no matter what they do. And another thing, is that when asking people "how old do i look", one needs to think about the fact that different people will think that different attributes ages u up/down. Some will notice ur wrinkles more, for ex, while others wont. It's about what details people notice. Sorry if hard to understand, English is not my main language 😅😊
Another thing. I didn't notice her gray hair, so it didn't affect how old I thought she looked. However, she looks tired, which I understand because she has children. She has slightly darker circles under her eyes and I think that affects how old she looks. I also have dark circles, and look younger if I put makeup over them. I think that if you look less tired, you usually look younger too.
The 18 year old I work with describes reaching legal adulthood as “understanding what people were talking about when they talk about being tired and sore.” Someone recently thought my kid was my sibling recently. I’m pretty sure it’s completely arbitrary
Also, that lady was very obviously a mother. She had the kind eyes and the gentle, slow way of talking. The mom clothes, the mom hair (some greys in there). She looked older but she also looked incredibly kind and warm. The old=bad thought is so outdated.
Being overweight ages you until you're about the age people expect jowls/marionette lines. The idea that having extra fat makes you look more youthful is only true in the sense that a 60-year-old might look 50.
I am 40 and if she said she was around my age, I would think ‘sure’ but I would also think she actually looked a bit rough and she needs to start taking better care of her skin and hydration. She has quite lax and dull skin and that is what makes her look a bit “old”.
Persuasion (the Jane Austen novel written 200 years ago) is explicitly about how aged a 27-year-old can look when she is just sad, and how a little bit of happiness and optimism changes how she is perceived. I feel this is not a new problem.
I'm really insecure about my looks, but my solution has been to avoid looking at my reflection too much. It stops me from obsessing over every little imperfection.
Up until I was 23, people consistently thought I was younger (16~18). Then I got a decade where people could guess my age accurately. Depression does that to a face; but I think my demeanor was also a huge factor. Now people are starting to find me younger-looking again. Smiling and being more joyful definitely helps.
My story a 100%. I aged a lot(physically and mentally) since I went downhill. And now being back on my feet again enjoying life little by little..I get to see myself looking and feeling younger again.
Genetics definitely play a big part on it. When I was in Middle School my classmates though my mom was my sister, and my grandma was my mom, because they genuinely look 20 years younger than they actually are.
Same thoughts, especially when she let her hair down and she had so many grays plus her haircut. Looked like she's in her late 40s/early 50s. Blows my mind she's 29.
Her glasses are terrible. She needs to find a more modern look. Without glasses she looked much more her age, until she scrunched up her face. More happy feelings and different glasses and she won't be taken for 45 or older.
Stress is amplified by the commiseration. Everyone complaining about how stressed they are on social media makes them and everyone else more stressed out.
They are not the first, absolutely not but they are for sure experiencing more than our generation. The fuck ups of previous generation is becoming bigger and bigger for each generation! We are the first internet age kids but nowhere near Gen Z and especially the Alpha gen are. Social media, the news is not only giving the younger generation more stress but also makes them force to grow up quicker than they should and we all know that skipping childhood is not ok for mental health. World is fucked up and the younger you are the more you feel it. Instead of comparing ourselves and having "gen war" we should instead work together for better future.
At 31 I almost didn't get my current job. They thought I lied when I said I graduated in 2014 and had work experience from then onward. Upper management insisted I must be 21. I'm flattered, but can that only impact me positively and stop getting my resume thrown out?
I actually look chronically younger for my whole life but younger the older I am 😆. When I was 18 people thought I was 16. When I was 25, people thought I was 20. When I am 32, people think I'm 22. I even wear heavy make up and it does not make you look older as people claim.
And clearly metabolically unhealthy. It’s so hard as a mom. Until I started eating differently and cutting out carbs, I basically had zero energy and wanted to nap all the time.
I think a source of this roast of Gen Z's faces is a way that milennials say "y'all are gangsta with being treated like you're grown, until you're told you look grown" XD or "you want to be the adult so bad, well you look old enough to be one" It's just a classic weapon in the generational wars
I am 6 years older than my late gen Z partner, and I look like a tired teenager. Something I want to note, and this is with the heavy caveat than people can do whatever they want with their bodies, but I automatically think people with a lot of plastic surgery and fillers look older because I grew up only seeing older people have those procedures. It's like the style association thing Vsauce explains. Plastic surgery to look younger = being older to me.
I am in my mid forties, gen x/ millennial cusp. My husband is the same age and has a baby face. People often think our adult kids are our partners or siblings and ask if I was a teen mom when they find out I’m the mom. I think it has a lot to do with sunblock, being in a happy marriage for over 20 years, so low stress, and never having any fillers. I have never had any work done, not even Botox. Not saying I won’t, it just scared me so putting it off as long as I can. Both my parents died in their early forties, I have out lived them. So for me aging is a gift that I am thankful for, I love every wrinkle and grey, I have earned them❤
Exact same. If my husband didn’t have gray hair and a beard people would think he was still in his late 20s. My niece’s friends just a couple years ago at her wedding thought I was their age. His deputy manager’s girlfriend was shocked when I told her I was mid 40s. I find it hilarious because when I was 17 people thought I was a decade older (my brother who is 8 years older would have friends who asked me if I graduated with them) and now everyone thinks I’m a couple decades younger so it’s like I’m perpetually in my 20s😂. How we behave, dress, and if you are a woman, do your makeup, can have a big impact on how you are perceived. When we were growing up, no one did the full beat. It wasn’t even an option for me since I couldn’t even find pantyhose that matched my skin much less foundation. We also were outside, granted not with sunscreen, but way more physically active, and let’s face it a lot of Gen X are perpetual teenagers 😂.
Gen X here. We definitely got the memo about sunblock.I've stopped aging so long that people are starting to ask questions. (Started daily sunscreen as a teen.)
Baby face can also be challenging to have since some people won't take you seriously since they think you're a child. I was 25 with my mother in law, when a house realtor asked what high school I would be attending in the area and I said I'm out of college and trying to get my own place lmfao.
I was 25, 6 months pregnant with my first and working at Pier 1 . One lady asked me what high school I just graduated from in Scottsdale AZ . I told her I didn't graduate from there and I graduated in 2007. When the math caught up to her it was a smack in the face. having a baby face sucked ! I think I'm just now looking my age now I've lost my cheek fat.
I was 26, married and newly pregnant with my first child (not showing yet) and I had a sweet older couple ask me what grade I was in. Lol It used to bother me, but now that I’m close to 50, I miss looking so much younger than I was. But also, I kinda get it. I can’t tell what anybody’s age is anymore, only that they’re “younger”.
Im turning 33 this year and people often think Im in my early twenties. Im now pregnant and one coworker was praising me for having kids before thirty and I hade to break it to them I was well into my thirties.
This happened to me 😂 I was 37 when I got pregnant with my twins and I had a male coworker that kept saying healthy pregnancies like mine are the reason why men should only get with wmen younger than 25.
Lmao at anti-wrinkle straws, people throwing their money down the drain when they simply could, you know, drink from the glass normally, without a straw
Lol ikr? People being like “oh just wait til ur 30s when ur body starts hurting” uhhh what? I once had someone comment I should enjoy being able to sit on the floor and get up easily because when I’m in my 30s I’ll be in pain. Still no pain.
It also has to do with facial features. Generally, more rounded or soft features look younger (aka baby face) vs sharper or longer or blunter features look more mature. And most people have a combo of those features & so perception is based on which features are dominant in their face & also what he said about our own idea of what ages should look like.
Exactly, Im 28, but I was just asked what school I go to by a middle aged lady at the grocery store. My husband says I have a cherubic face, full soft features and Im super into skincare because I had problems as a teen but its a combo of features and genetics and a sprinkle of environmental factors.
it comes down to your own personal body and genetics. as long as you’re taking good care of your skin, drink water, sleep right, and care for your peace of mind, all is well. theres no such thing as “looking an age” because everyone at every age looks different in the first place. thats genetics, baby!
I'm 29 with a baby-face (thanks dad!), and when I tell people my age they always thought I was younger. I'm FINALLY getting crows feet!! They're so cute and make me look so happy when I smile 😌💕
@@CathasachRealta Yea, they love wearing those "mom jeans". My first thought was that the almost 21 year old at 13:36 looks like a mom, she's wearing mom clothes and the hairstyle definitely adds to it. Clothes and hair can make someone look more mature than they are.
That happens in every generation not just gen z, some me people have bad genetics or habits. Also gen z is growing up in the age of hd cameras and plastic surgery with botched faces, where everything is documented so thats why you perceive them as older.
For some reason the haircut made her look like a whole mom with grown adult kids like I would not hesitate to think she's 50-60😅 she just naturally has a mature looking face
I thought she looked older too but I love that she kept her real hair colour. And it's her style so who cares if she seems a bit more mature than she is 😊
@@chai_lattes I think she is a mom.... which is part of the reason. But she actually looks older than my mom who's mid-50s. Her face shape/hair color/ personal style/ body shape are all aging her (and most of those things are things she could fix with some effort). At least she still has young, non-sun damaged skin which will help her out a LOT later on. Ngl, losing some weight would reduce the puffiness in her cheeks around her mouth lines because those lines are usually only that prominent on people 50-60+ Botox lady too, she looks so old because the lip injections made her skin look saggy around her mouth.
I just turned 30 and people say I look younger, even had people asking for my ID bevause they didn't believe it... And I do believe it's avoidance of the sun that helped me on this one 😂😂 also a simple skin care might help a lot, I think that very complicated skin care routines do more bad than good. BUT ALSO, genetics. People never take genetics into account, and it counts A LOT.
personally i find people look younger if they often smile, maybe because being an adult drains you
Haha good point!

Anti-aging used to be just for people who are actually old. When kids do it, no wonder they just end up looking like old people trying to look young.
the instragram girls have only 1 face. Whether they're 18 or 80, they all get everything shaped the same way.
Yeah there's no way that half-balding guy is 21 lmao
I used to watch that show all the time and some of the staple characters (Norm, Cliff, Sam) looks didn't change much during the show.
why you sho grandma at the start, she not 36? she is 63
I looked it up, because I didn't believe it either.

My understanding as to why people are insulted or afraid to look old, is that media tends to portray aging as unattractive or ugly.
You get to pass on knowledge, get wiser, grow as a person, meet more people, see more places and overall you get to experience what a lot of others don’t who die young due to illness or accident that maybe couldn’t be foreseen.

The girl with the fillers...damn, they done her wrong. How can one get cosmetic procedures and look worse off...I'd cry for my money

The change in style made her look even older ;-;
Yeah 😅 i thought she is around 40. Mhm maybe alot of stress.
Indeed...facewise I thought she was my age, I'm in my 40s. 😳
It probably doesn't help that young people today are wearing the styles that were trending before I was a teen.
Probably due to stress.
Omg same!! As a tween I'd get mistaken for my younger brothers mom. Now I get asked what grade I'm in. I'm 26 lmao
I guess the height trick doesn't work as well on them 😂
Same! I used to go into college parties at 14 and no one batted an eye or asked my age. Now I'm 30 and get carded more than I did at 21.
Same, I'm 35 and am lucky that I got here and am still going!
Amen! Smile often and moisturize daily and things will be just fine.
I’m 36, not digging the lines I’m getting on my forehead but oh well… my husband is 6 years older than me but he looks way younger…lucky man

Not to lie though she doesn’t look her age. She definitely looks older but it wasn’t the grays for me it was how she carried herself.
Agreed, she looked a bit more lively with the hair and clothes helped. But she still looks the age people think she is.
😅 Or coworkers who will be condescending to me because, "you're young, what do you know" 🙄
Now that I'm almost 40, it happens less often but, only because people think I'm in my early 20's.
People do really, really love to point out how young you look, if you do! I get it so often i've made a game of it. It's forever amusing to see the looks of shock when i reveal i am at least a decade older than they thought. I blend in so well with the young'uns xD
But i love pointing out the signs of my aging, like my hands, my forehead, and the fact that i'm getting gray hairs.
Many of those procedures make pretty girls look older and worse
frrr these girls don't realize that getting all these cosmetic procedures literally ages them
Gonna be honest, it’s all about your energy.
Im 26 year old and i often get mistaken for my mom who's 50 year old. Lol. 😅
Was sunscreen as commonly used back then?

LOL

I thought the 29 year old girl looked even older with her hair down.
I agree

Someone from my club would see the look, know exactly what they were thinking and respond "Yeah she's 27/28/30 etc, crazy right?".
Seriously gen z look so old and it's funny bc they're also the most ageist

Im a younger millennial who wasn't huge on sunscreen for my face until recently. I have had problem skin and difficult-to-manage acne from early puberty. Sunscreens and most products made my skin even worse. Now turning 30, I still have problem skin but thankfully I am able to tolerate sunscreen and it is much more manageable. Dermatologist says is is in my genes. Im surprised that even tho I am a newer sunscreen user, my gen Z coworkers think I'm in my early 20's and they all think I'm a new graduate 😂
This has already been said, but aging is a privilege. I turn 30 this year and I'm so excited about it! Looking forward to my 30's and all they may bring.
30-39 is not a singular age group. Decades are not age groups.
Aging is a privilege. While I struggle with getting older, the fact that I am should be a reminder that I'm lucky no matter how I look.
@VergilClapsSuccubiCheeks maybe not dying young is a privilage? In the end, there's a lot of young people that didn't have a chance to enjoy their youth

@VergilClapsSuccubiCheeks that face is mine lol but I like the pink-ish hues
Lol why are we acting like 36 is old and your knees just start randomly hurting 😂
Just work out geez
Edit: I seem to have upset some people.
My knees randomly started hurting at 28. I’m 38 now. Sometimes my knees hurt, sometimes they don’t. They hurt more working out.
I remember jokingly telling people my knees age in dog years and at 28 I went to a doctor to have my knees looked at and the doctor told I had the knees of a 40's year old 😬 I spent 5 years as runner seems it'd be healthy if I wasn't 250lbs +🤦♂️.

Most hollywood actress looks much older they age worse after 30 same goes for any race except southeast Asia.
Cate Blanchett and meryl Streep are other ones that spring to mind and they’re all absolutely beautiful.
Exactly, people who look older in their 20/30s sometimes then age very gracefully into their faces when they actually reach those ages
Kate Winslet looked like such a grown-up in Titanic.

Filler will stretch their skin when they are young. One should wait till they are in their 50's

At age 65 I have to facepalm a bit over someone worrying about how old they look in their 20's and 30's, but I suppose it's all very relative. I remember in college some "fancy boy" type getting hair plugs one summer because his hairline was receding.

It's more lack of taking care through stress and then those things like grey hairs, creases, and cosmetic surgeries that are associated with older people.

Exactly! Some of it is down to skin damage
Hey the 90s kids were just as reckless. I would the say the turnaround happened in the early aughts.

So true! Artists stay young!
Stress factor is one of it. I believed there’s beauty trends that kids used as “role model”. The kardashian and ariana grande must be in part of these. People just don’t want to be “white skin”? Why is that?

i'm also 29, i still get asked "is your mom here?" whenever i opened door for guest.
maybe is because i'm short? idk. when i look at my no-makeup face there's already sign of maturity (dark eyebags😅), and i kinda feel i look younger when i wear makeup but people that i met have mixed opinion (some of them would think im uni student, some thought that im just typical career woman)
people just have wayyyy unrealistic ideas of what others should look like at a certain age. Also being chronically online and not knowing what people actually look like without filters and editing, they should go outside time to time.
Her style definitely made her look even older in the second video
Yep and the shape of her glasses makes her look older!
yeah thought the same, she could look much younger, i dont get why she doesnt dye her hair, if shes 29 and already getting gray hair, thats crazy.
For the first lady, she looked older, but more polished with her second look
Yeah she looked significantly more polished and better, but not any younger.
Also, that lady was very obviously a mother. She had the kind eyes and the gentle, slow way of talking. The mom clothes, the mom hair (some greys in there). She looked older but she also looked incredibly kind and warm. The old=bad thought is so outdated.
SHE'S 29 YEARS OLD???? OMFG I thought she was 40
Being overweight ages you until you're about the age people expect jowls/marionette lines.
@@duma227and what is she talking about the aches of 36 old, like her knees hurt? That's not typical for 36 lol
I thought she looked 50+.
RIP to that lady 😂
Normalize 👏 aging 👏 Aging is a blessing
Agreed!!
Yes and no. Growing old is not bad, but looking old when you're young? Not the same.
@jackdar1iipper Wisdom vs beauty. Which do you value more? Beauty is fleeting, wisdom grows as you age.
Ageing is a disease due to our lifestyle
@@stefyroxanne7567 that's what ugly people tell themselves!
After almost dying I appreciate every year, month and day added to my timeline, appreciate your blessings people ❤
3:51 The way you slowly nodded and played it off made my constipation go away 😭😭
That @chelsalay woman being 29 - and taken for 36 - actually looks even older. Much older. I am 57 and look like that.
I swear she looks like a 40-50 yr old version of my mom who is now 71. Which was a bit wild to me seeing her; I'm 39 in a couple of months!
ikr
Same thoughts, especially when she let her hair down and she had so many grays plus her haircut. Looked like she's in her late 40s/early 50s. Blows my mind she's 29.
Her glasses are terrible. She needs to find a more modern look. Without glasses she looked much more her age, until she scrunched up her face. More happy feelings and different glasses and she won't be taken for 45 or older.
Yeah I’m old enough to be her mum but I’d look at her and think she’s in my peer group
I dont know why gen z act like they're the first generation to experience stress
Stress is amplified by the commiseration. Everyone complaining about how stressed they are on social media makes them and everyone else more stressed out.
this is true. Gen Z are also stressed out because they give a crap on everything they see on social media
it's definitely a social media issue, tbh. They grew up with Social media, they have to experience everything all the time and that's stressful af
@@monocyte2210as if that's the only problem lol. Literal living crisis still going on. Everyone probably going to be a "little" stressed.
Ahaha I loved his nod but then instantly shake when she asked ”fo I look 36?”
the 22 year old definitely looks much older to me. maybe 37-40. she looks like a 40 yr old trying to look younger
Believe me there are 40 year olds that look way younger than this
My fiancé said over 50
Im 43 and she looks older than me.😢😢😢
Fillers do tend to make people look like they are older because we associate them with old people I think
My mom is in her late 50s and looks younger than her...... The fillers and hair dye have definitely *not* helped her.
Just turned 30...
Keep getting people thinking I'm just out of highschool...
But when I was in highschool people thought I was in college
At 31 I almost didn't get my current job. They thought I lied when I said I graduated in 2014 and had work experience from then onward.
Upper management insisted I must be 21.
I'm flattered, but can that only impact me positively and stop getting my resume thrown out?
I actually look chronically younger for my whole life but younger the older I am 😆. When I was 18 people thought I was 16. When I was 25, people thought I was 20. When I am 32, people think I'm 22. I even wear heavy make up and it does not make you look older as people claim.
it also doesnt help that all the popular 90s shows literally casted 25 year olds as high school aged teenagers.
14:30 "Must be the lack of frontal lobe." 🤣
The first woman only looked old because she was dressed old and looking unhappy
And clearly metabolically unhealthy. It’s so hard as a mom. Until I started eating differently and cutting out carbs, I basically had zero energy and wanted to nap all the time.
Her grey roots, pale skin and big glasses do not help her situation.
for me its her mouth/cheek lines, red undereyes and super hooded eyes, plus looking super washed out...she looked OLD old
No she has deep folds and grey AF hair. That at least for most of my friends didn't happen until 40+.
looksmaxxing henry cavil wonbin made me giggle a bit ngl
I think a source of this roast of Gen Z's faces is a way that milennials say "y'all are gangsta with being treated like you're grown, until you're told you look grown" XD or "you want to be the adult so bad, well you look old enough to be one"
It's just a classic weapon in the generational wars
I am 6 years older than my late gen Z partner, and I look like a tired teenager.
Something I want to note, and this is with the heavy caveat than people can do whatever they want with their bodies, but I automatically think people with a lot of plastic surgery and fillers look older because I grew up only seeing older people have those procedures. It's like the style association thing Vsauce explains. Plastic surgery to look younger = being older to me.
Bingo.
Nope u people look like grandpa after 30 😂 that's reality no hate but fact even surgery won't save u zzzzz

Crazy how much difference there is in between generations
I am in my mid forties, gen x/ millennial cusp.
My husband is the same age and has a baby face. People often think our adult kids are our partners or siblings and ask if I was a teen mom when they find out I’m the mom.
I think it has a lot to do with sunblock, being in a happy marriage for over 20 years, so low stress, and never having any fillers. I have never had any work done, not even Botox. Not saying I won’t, it just scared me so putting it off as long as I can.
Both my parents died in their early forties, I have out lived them. So for me aging is a gift that I am thankful for, I love every wrinkle and grey, I have earned them❤
Lol you’re too old to be a millennial. You’re gen x. It’s okay to admit that.
You are full gen x
You are full of B's lmao
I can barely breathe watching your videos. Hilarious. Perfect comedic timing
That little screen behind you is getting all my attention

Baby face can also be challenging to have since some people won't take you seriously since they think you're a child. I was 25 with my mother in law, when a house realtor asked what high school I would be attending in the area and I said I'm out of college and trying to get my own place lmfao.
Yup I’m abt to be 35 and my baby face finally went away
@@ElleDavi🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 your coworker is a degenerate predator.
Lmao at anti-wrinkle straws, people throwing their money down the drain when they simply could, you know, drink from the glass normally, without a straw
The way a person dresses or wears their hair can really age a person.
🤣 I'm 37 and don't have aches and pains.
You really shouldn’t have regular aches and pains in your 30s if you’re healthy and don’t have a manual labor job.
They're so cute and make me look so happy when I smile 😌💕
a lot of gen z looks older then me and I'm 32, it's really shocking to see this
For real. They dress like my mom so it's hard for me to adjust my thinking that their fashion is a young style now.
Same
Im sorry but look 49 old
imma need both knees replaced by 27
Great news! You don’t actually disintegrate in your 30s!
"I would have guessed 27 to 38" really does sum it up lmao
6:08 she actually looks older than before…
For some reason the haircut made her look like a whole mom with grown adult kids like I would not hesitate to think she's 50-60😅 she just naturally has a mature looking face
@@chai_lattes all she needs is a hair dye
I thought she looked older too but I love that she kept her real hair colour. And it's her style so who cares if she seems a bit more mature than she is 😊
@@chai_lattes I think she is a mom.... which is part of the reason. But she actually looks older than my mom who's mid-50s. Her face shape/hair color/ personal style/ body shape are all aging her (and most of those things are things she could fix with some effort). At least she still has young, non-sun damaged skin which will help her out a LOT later on. Ngl, losing some weight would reduce the puffiness in her cheeks around her mouth lines because those lines are usually only that prominent on people 50-60+
Botox lady too, she looks so old because the lip injections made her skin look saggy around her mouth.
Yeah she does.
