- The CR-V has been a top selling SUV for Honda. For 2021 there have been a few things done to refresh this compact SUV. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 190HP mated through CVT transmission. On the outside the CR-V has a new front fascia, wheels, rear bumper and new color. On the inside you will still have all of the great touches you come to expect from the top touring trim. Is the updated 2020 Honda CR-V Touring AWD king of the compact SUVs?

Had a 99' for ten years and 150K and only sold it because I got bored of it. Could have had it another five years at least. Great all around vehicle.

For me, I'm gonna zonk its premium sound system, because Honda literally didn't assign the brand for their premium sound system (whether it's a Bose, Harman Kardon, Bang & Olufsen, etc.) I mean, other car brands, Toyota uses JBL, Mazda (including the Fiat 124 Spyder), Hyundai (only for the 2020 Sonata), Nissan, Infiniti, and GM use Bose, Mitsubishi and Nissan (only the 2nd generation Nissan Titan (XD) from 2016-2019) used to have Rockford Fosgate, but they're no longer having it because of their license from Rockford Fosgate got expired, Subaru, Kia, BMW, MINI, Chrysler (Pacifica only), Jeep (Grand Cherokee only), and RAM use Harman Kardon, Chrysler (except for Pacifica), Dodge, and Jeep (except for Grand Cherokee) use Alpine, Ford and Audi use Bang & Olufsen, Hyundai uses Infinity, Volkswagen and Nissan (only the redesigned 2nd generation Nissan Titan (XD) from 2020-present) use Fender, Lexus uses Mark Levinson, Acura, Honda's luxury brand, uses ELS from Panasonic, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche use Burmester, Lincoln uses Revel, Volvo, Maserati, BMW (some models), and Alfa Romeo use Bowers and Wilkins, and Jaguar and Land Rover use Meridian.
Hmmm... I think for me if Honda is going to brand its premium sound system, I think it should be either Bang & Olufsen, or maybe they could share the same premium sound system that Acura uses, which is ELS. Because if Honda chose Bang & Olufsen, it makes more sense that it may be easy for car buyers to identify which sound system Honda is using compared to other normal Japanese car brands like Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, and Subaru. If a car uses JBL, that means a car was made by Toyota. If a car uses Bose, that means a car was made by either Nissan (except for the Titan (XD)) or Mazda. If a car uses Fender, that means a truck was made by Nissan, which is the Titan. Finally, if a car uses Harman Kardon, that means the car was made by Subaru.
Because if Honda chose the same sound system brand that Acura uses, which is ELS, it would make a lot more sense that a luxury car company can share its brand with its sister company, which is a normal car company, like GM, Nissan, and BMW (except for Rolls-Royce because RR had their own.) Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac all use Bose. Nissan and Infiniti also both use Bose like GM. Finally, BMW and MINI both use Harman Kardon. At least, Honda should have their own license from either Bang & Olufsen or Panasonic. Every Honda model except for Fit should have a premium sound system with a brand. That's what I concerned about Honda.

That touch screen is a ZOOM Joe, it's outdated and that humongous bezel.
Keep zonking those prop rods! How was the road noise? That is the only complaint I had with the older CRVs I’ve owned. I’d probably go with a RAV4. I like their aggressive exterior, along with the availability of ventilated seats in the Adventure package.

i build these everyday at the Honda plant in Greensburg, Indiana. one thing i wish they would change is on the infotainment screen is there is a lot of wasted space on either side of the screen. they could've made the screen bigger in my opinion
I laughed when he said "most important part of the car" while opening the back because i never even opened the tail lid when i bought my sportage.

I really wish there was a way to disconnect the auto start-stop mode. Also the RAV4 has ventilated seats plus no more CVT transmission. Plus Honda is still having a problem with that oil dilution. I’m going with the Toyota

I think it looks great.
One feature you missed was the touchless lift gate on the Touring. Its a very useful feature, even though it sounds lame (you can get use to it quick).
Is that standard on touring?
@@mysticode It is on the 2021 Touring model, which is a carbon copy of the 2020. I thought it was a gimmick to up sell from the EXL... but after using it, IMO, it's worth the $1K upgrade for non Touring models if it doesn't have it. It's something I use almost every trip.

i like the wheels alot better than the previous "Star Wars" wheels. Oil dilution still an issue? Would only buy the Hybrid model because I dont want to risk an oil dilution issue with that engine.
AFAIK, the oil gas dilution remains on the 1.5T in the CRV. Would not touch it with a 10 foot pole. The fake wood on the dash cheapens the whole interior, and should be swapped out for a textured plastic IMHO.
In case I want to change the hybrid battery is it easy to do that? Because the battery is under the rear seat

I have the 2019 EX, best price to feature ratio. All of the safety features, LED running lights, sunroof, etc. just no leather seats, sat nav, electric tailgate, wireless charging. I had the option of 2020, but they are giving good deals on 2019, look for ones that have been on lot a while too.
@Armando Sturzenegger MSRP was 28k after dealer fee and before discount, but I had trade in. So they gave alittle over 1k off for buying 2019(some 2019 have a couple hundred off on top for being in lot longer) and another 1k I believe as a "loyalty" bonus for trading in a toyota as a first time customer.

I must say you were being rather generous in several areas you normally are quite critical. Also no test of it's handling and brakes. I tried one and chose the SEL Tiguan instead. Tighter build, faster and quieter and better Infotainment system. Most people zonk the current Honda Infotainment system as well.
The CR-V is at the bottom and Tiguan at the top in a cars sto com co mo Paris on test. The new RAV4 is well down there with Honda too!
Only zonk the prop rod if it’s not on the all the way to the edge

Why don't you talk about the Honda Sensing features ? Like in Highway it can kind of drive automatically, when you turn on adaptive cruise control and the lane detention and keep assist, it auto steers on highway. And also, it reminds you to steer if you don't keep your hands on the wheel for long. It also tracks your attention level, and breaks automatically if the car in front breaks suddenly, gives you visual and audible warning to break. Cross traffic alert, back camera lot of other features to talk about.

Smell of gasoline in the cabin and the engine not staying hot at -20 degrees but Honda's garbage customer service. Please do your self a service and never buy a Honda anything

The big zonk is that the Hybrid model doesn't have a spare tire. If you get a flat, not sure how the inflator is going to fix it. 190hp for the gas model risking oil dilution vs the hybrid without spare...That's all a zonk party.

This needed 20-min of preparation, researching the problems of the pre-facelift model, and then two minutes of video time discussing whether they'd been fixed.

We contacted Honda, who brought the car in and issued a service to fix the "running infotainment" problem. The automaker says the fix will be available to owners as an over-the-air update soon (click here to access Honda's owner update site, under 'Software System Updates,' or here for instructions about over-the-air updates). But it does not solve the initial problem, which is a total shutdown of the infotainment system while the Passport is moving.
This is a frustrating situation for buyers. It does not reflect well on the quality of the Passport's software, and causes a potential distraction hazard at speed. At time of writing, the problem has not occurred in more than two months, and there have been no issues in the short time since Honda completed its service. But we've learned other owners have had similar experiences in Passport, Pilot and Odyssey models. Edmund's
I’ve owned many CRVs. They are fantastic, not one has ever seen a shop. But If it’s ever not king I’ll switch to something else. I will say that it needs two things. Cooled seats and hi res display, the Honda displays are not keeping up with state of the art. Oh and one other major problem. The passenger seat needs to be fully adjustable for tall people. Especially in the touring trim, I mean seriously, when are they going to get it that passengers can be tall too??

I currently drive 2016 CX-5 and looking to trade up and new turbo engine CX-5 seems nice but to be honest BMW X1 has grabbed my heart, the price difference is merely a few grand more and BMW badge value to me is more than worth it over a Mazda, otherwise there's simply no other car (CUV & SUV) that interests me at all right now
Hi Mackey, Both are good cars but the Mazda Cx5 you can save a lot in your purchase and maintenance. The BMW after some range of years are money pits because of the issues and expensive parts and labor.
