I pay for yt premium to avoid instream ads. cmon now..
@@bscabl this is undoubtedly hilarious. You..........are a legend.
So a Honda video but you run a Nissan ad. You get a dislike.
(2023 1.5T) Haha, “as enthusiasts you get more positive feedback from shifting your different transmission settings…”. Except it’s a CVT transmission. It doesn’t have “gears”.
Guys Honda markets it as a CVT but you should know it’s not. It’s an electronic coupling device. It runs in serial hybrid until the vehicle is moving fast enough to couple the engine, around 45mph, then is in a locked ratio. It might sound like a CVT at lower speeds because the engine will run at whatever rpm is needed to produce the electricity from motor 1 to power motor 2. Alex on autos had a fantastic video on how this car actually works. I love you guys and have been watching since the beginning but dang, gotta stop just regurgitating the marking materials.
I was going to comment about this, but here you are. Thanks. The Hybrid does NOT have a belt and pulley cvt.
This! Thank you!!!
It's as if they don't know this. But they do. I guess they just don't care
Alex On Autos is TRUE automotive journalism. Everyone else is just RUclips marketing
@@KingCarlofcarlWorld it's the same as the Toyota
How do you like driving the crv hybrid Vs Rav 4 hybrid?
Do an Off-road/AWD test between the new CR-V, Outlander, Rogue, Rav4, Escape, CX-5/CX-50, and the Tiguan.
yes please do! CR-V Hybrid AND the regular CR-V! But if there's only one spot available, please pick the hybrid!
Toyota hybrids are the best. Nothing comes close to them since Toyota has 25 years of experience with hybrids.
The rear end is very Volvo esque.
Even the last generation was like that. I think it’s nice.
The pocket behind the passenger seat is the only one the driver can reach. And these pockets used to be called “map” pockets. I think this is why some cars still have only one behind the front passenger seat.
You’re right. Only 1, drivers side was eliminated because drivers were trying to reach in pocket in drivers seat; resulting in many crashes.
Save your time. The hosts do NOT drive the vehicles! Just a bunch of blabber about interior features.
A new replacement Hybrid Battery cost $4400 and the Module that controls it cost $2500. Warranties covers it for 60k miles. When you need replacement there goes your gas savings. Keep it simple folks
For anyone planning on keeping a car beyond 10 years old then never get a hybrid
But the other option is turbo, which also don’t have great longevity reputation.
That's not true...Honda battery warranty is 10 years and 100K miles. It's really easy for someone else to justify one's savings, but if it's not your vehicle, who cares 🤔🤔🤔. Especially after these post Covid fuel prices. That's why Teslas are flying off the lots.
Love the new crv
Definitely get one soon
I am happy with my old 2017 crv exl
Very economical and fun to drive
unsubscribed, too many commercials
Downgraded by removing 4 way lumbar and fog lights. Also the rear seats no longer lay completely flat like they used to. Honda drastically cut production of the LX trim in early 2021 when I used to sell Honda products. The dash/instrument cluster on the 2023 is the same as on the 10th gen Accord.
Fog lights and an LX model are must have things. Bring them back!
For TFL: pls show us spare tire configs during these walkarounds
For Honda: thanks for the real shifter. A bit more clearance, a trim with improved angles and basic skis would go a long way for those using these for offroad purposes.
exactly spare tire included in any of the models?
Terrible review, the two were so off Sync, kept cutting each other off and all of the place!
I like the old CRV more. Just not a fan of the push button shifter though. Not a fan of the INFO screens dropped on top of the dash in any cars. Plus, the vent knobs and open slots will be a future problem because people think they are toys.
Same here

The new CR-V looks good inside and out. I am glad to see they have made some improvements with the hybrid system and greater range of reclining rear seats. I wish that they would have added a panoramic sunroof for the two upper trims for the price. Honda offers the panoramic sunroof on the new CR-V in other markets. I still like to see Honda improve the hybrid system for added fuel mileage and power. Also adding another engine option, possibly from the Acura line. Why cheap out on the little things like rear driver seat storage pocket and rear charging ports on the lower trims? My kids would appreciate it. I feel that Honda did a good with the new CR-V but can still do better considering the competition. Good job on the video!
My 2022 CRV hybrid has reclining rear seats.
As always you are fantastic! I love this new CRV
I do like the exterior the new turbo but not the front bottom of hybrid version with fake chrome square fog lights look stupid!
Looks great, I am a Honda guy at heart but…I’d love to see a heads up with a hybrid RAV4.. Toyota is consistently performing in the hybrid front
Pray you don't get a flat. No spare.
As an owner of a low mileage 20 EX model I would hard pressed to get the 23 especially with the current pricing structure that is taking place. I suspect MSRP plus a couple of gran. I was able to get close to 4k off my 20. As far as looks- Nice but generic like the new Pilot. TFL- your trying to hard to sell the new one. I do like the sport touring but at 40k plus markup I would be looking at a nx350h
Pricing is the main issue. I have a 2019 touring. And I can't justify getting a new 23 top of the line for 45k
I'm seeing 3K off MSRP now. Dealers are getting loads of 2024s now.
My mother-in-law bought the '22 hybrid and one of the big selling features was the push button gear selector. In her late-70s and with arthritis, it was far easier for her to operate.
Maybe she should stop driving
@@shamevonn1164 arthritis doesn’t equal inability to drive or function. Gee whiz dude.
I've been driving my CRV Hybrid for a year now, and I **LOVE** the buttons. What's the issue people have with using buttons?

I absolutely love the 2023 CRV sport touring. Especially in that color! Great job as always guys.
How much is it
To be fair regarding the infotainment (in my 2017 at least) the GPS is Garmin, which honestly was a welcome interface for an OEM to use, versus some of the other vehicles with their homemade GPS. It pushed me to go for the EX-L with Navi! But otherwise you guys are right about the remaining infotainment showing it's age.
I’ve got a 2018 EX without navigation but with Apple car play and I use Waze. I think it looks and functions great that way, and I don’t need to worry about updating the maps and spending money for that. With Apple car play and android auto, there’s really no need to pay extra for navigation. But that’s just my opinion.
I do love my CR-V but am a little envious of the new model. And, mine being a 2018, I actually have a shifter and not the push button selector.
As always you are fantastic! I love this new CRV
I like watching your videos but when giving your opinions don’t sound like you’re mocking the older generation. The push button transmissions are great for older folks who might have arthritis or other disabilities. In a CR-V group I follow people are pointing out the fact that the new generation lacks style and that it copies other vehicles like Mazda and the rear lights look like Volvo taillights. The interior is the only thing people like. The CVT isn’t like other CVTs and you make it sound like its a bad thing. I won’t explain here what makes the Honda ECVT special but I would encourage anyone interested in the hybrid to look it up on RUclips. There’s more to talk about these hybrids, like how gas versions are getting better MPGs than the hybrids, etc etc.
To be fair, the clowns that run this channel are just that: clowns. They have NO clue about anything automotive and just bullshit for entertainment value. There are FAR more knowledgeable reviewers out there.
Only the top trim Civic has the same turbo 1.5 engine , the lower trims get the 2 liter non turbo with 158 HP
I was pretty sure the hybrid didn’t use a CVT, instead using that direct drive system?
I thought Honda called it an e-CVT system. So not really a traditional CVT per se.
Nothing wrong with a CVT.
Got 24 Lx model. Not crazy about the 1.5 turbo but that's how it's made, so ? Time will tell. But, getting good gas mileage (34 around town). Better than advertised. But just me & how i drive.. No oil dilution, YET . I'm in the South. No mark up's by dealer. Good driving experience and visibility. Nice brakes , comfy seats. Smooth excelleration, comfortable ride, takes bumps well. I do use " Top teir" gas at 87 octane. Plan on oil changes at 3000-5000 miles to keep pistons & engine cleaner. Other than that, nothing else to report. So far it's doing fine.
What was wrong with a normal gear shifter? Crazy thinking!
16:21 Honda offers 2 USB-C ports on the gas models for $150 in the backseat
The previous generation is very spacious and is a major reason we bought it. At 6'-3" I comfortably fit in either the front or rear seats with plenty of leg and headroom. I will keep the 1mpg extra gas millage as well. The newer model gas nicer styling and electronics. However feel Honda missed the boat on not offering new engine features in the USA - particularly PHEV which they offer on the CR-V in Europe. Still you can't go wrong with any Honda.
I’m 6’4 and I always feel cramped in the older CR-V
@@MrBusterpalmer so no 5th gen for you - on to the 6th gen

Kasey 👏👏👏 on the tail pipes ... I'm with you ..
Pls stop calling this transmission as a cvt!
That honeycomb air vent will be such a turn off when it starts getting dusty inside because it will be a pain in the arse to clean it
Just bought a 2023 EX. My first gas fillup showed i got 31.5 mpg. And that was almost no highway. I'm 6'5" and I'm comfortable. Lots of room. Drives beautifully.
I like the 2021-2022 CR-V more because I like the room and sounds when it moves, but I don't like the buttons either 😅
How are push button transmission clunky lol. What about other buttons on the car 🤷. I like push button transmission and have no problems with them. I just don't like any type of shaft sticking out and getting in the way.
Error: “For 2023, Honda dropped the LX CR-V”. Nope. I’m looking at the official 2023 CR-V Specs & Features grid and it shows the LX. And I’ve seen them at dealers, as well as for 2024 and now, 2025.
Do an offroad test between them!!!
I've owned a 5th gen, they're really not off roaders at all. Underbody is really exposed, bumpers don't have good clearances, not much sidewall due to wheel size, and the AWD system really craps out once you start losing traction on individual wheels. They're pretty much only good for gravel, rain, and snow.
@@azzy9532 ah, yeah makes sense i guess for an xover
2024 has no Fog lights. Sorry, when you drive through the mountains and come around sharp bends, fog lights are a life saver.
2023 looks much better
Give me a break. Are you seriously being sponsored by an auto manufacturer?! No conflict of interest there.
This is what they needed to do to get people excited about hybrids. Make them a bit more powerful and WAY more attractive. Good job Honda!
I just spec the EX-L, because I didn’t want the hybrid but like the looks of the hybrid model, with the black alloy rims and the lower trim and it looks so good😮
I think they hybrid would be more reliable. No turbo and CVT.
Wilson William Jackson Richard Rodriguez Timothy
I like the new one hybrid CRV best. The turbo no; Honda is having problems with turbos. None comes with fog lights; older drivers need fog lights.
It's cool.. but With that TFL sponsorship I'm strongly considering a pathfinder 😂
Honda did a very bad job copying Volvo for their rear lights on the old CR-V. Looks like an ugly cartoon. And the front looks ugly and unpurposeful. The new one they sort of just copy straight and not changing anything. So they looks better. But the side profile make the car looks like it can easily break in half.
TFL always amaze me with their one shot presentation. Fluent speakings and smooth handling to surprising events are great examples of group presentations.
Thanks for the kind comment
That's not TomTom, it's Garmin. Everything about that screams Garmin.
34 mpg hwy for the hybrid is a bummer. id still go ice, unless I lived in in la
I like the look of the base model there. The other two have weird looks on the chin spoilers.
Im turned of by TURBO engines i wish they were all gas like before.
otherwise you can get issues like oil dilution and expensive to repair. im staying off new ones for this reason
Very nice. Honda is always a contender and quality/durability is standard imo. For me though... RAV4 is still is the winner.
Respect your opinion but for me the Rogue is now the winner.
Test drive missing, at least noticed that I prefeer the newer model, looks more attractive and bigger. The AT push button system of the older model completely obsolete.
So i heard that this 2023 crv not cvt, but in general is this worth of purchase for bot so much off road terrain? Im asking in terms or reliability in general compare to regular gas one? If anyone coming from gas and just shifted to hybrid, please share your thought regarding long term use?
i like everything about the new one except that front clip.. too boxy. the rear end looks better, kinda xc60-ish.
Honda doesn't sell cars to rental fleets, but Honda dealers do 😆
No direct fleet sales from American Honda doesn't mean that rental companies don't purchase Honda. There are many of Accords, CR-Vs and Civics on rental lots.
Very ver difficult to find though
I've had a CR-V and HR-V as rentals
@@J-W.- Not where I usually rent (NYC). I have rented different Accords (Hybrid, 2.0T Sport, 1.5T EX-L, 2.0T Touring), CR-V Hybrid. I have also seen countless Accords Sport, various Pilots, Passports, HR-Vs, Ridgelines, new Civics, pretty much every single model. Some of them well equipped, or even top trims. And that's at one location only - National/Enterprise at LaGuardia Airport.
Yes, a lit of buyers don't take the replacement cost of those batteries into account when they purchase the vehicle. Big surprise when it comes time for that !!
Honda is really get into the game! Their new models are just wow!
You did not mention anything about the Sport Mode on any of the Hybrid models..... The performance benefits that Sport Mode gives the 5th Gen Hybrid models makes the CR-V a totally different vehicle. The way the CR-V behaves on Sport Mode is impressive. That comparison beats a tailgate drag race anytime.
My '21 Hybrid CRV is my baby! They don't know what they are talking about with Regen shifters.
I use them all the time and recharge my car way more and hardly ever touch the brakes to stop...
Also they are wrong about the CVT transmission hybrid 5th gen is not a true CVT. It has the best setup imoho!
Yeah the sport mode is the shit. Turns her into a beast 🤣 I've whooped up on many cars n trucks 0-60
2023 cr-v in Turkey have proper gear, not buttons
The new crv dashboard look like 2018 Hyundai Elantra lol
Seriously…. It also looks like the new civic 😅
I have a 2020 crv fwd touring non hybrid and get about 35mpg in hwy and 30mpg hwy and city, the only thing I don’t like is the touch screen.
2023 is better looking.
The black tshirt guy should check his heart . He is breathing heavily without moving..kindly tell him to check it..
GREAT REVIEW. Cars are overpriced now though.
Im still using that picnic table.
Yup. Miss mine from the 2005 CRV.
I dont like the fuel tank capacity... only 14 gallons

In this video... you guys did not notice that... the back doors open to an almost... 90 degree opening... Honda be mad at you for that.. in my Ridgelines, the 2019 I paid for them to open wider but the 2021 they opended OK for the dog to be thrown in the back.. this NEW CR-V will replace my Black Edition Ridgeline... and the DOG will enjoy that the doors open to 90 so he wont have to be thrown in as much as gently rolled in, now that he is older... I was blown over sitting in this machine for 3/4 of an hour... starting the Engine and hearing NOTHING... that was it... SOLD... but backing up now that is halarious... i'll let all the early adopters pay the 5-10k markups. Not only will they pay more $$$, they'll also help honda work out the inevitable new model issues. Thanks guys.
The new one is ugly
Awh, you never showed us under the hood of the 2023 Touring Hybrid....Bad Boys...Case should be spanked!
Looks like a Mazda.
So Nissan is sponsoring a Honda review video
The Honda dealer where I live just does not have any inventory. I will not buy unless I can drive the vehical first. With all the labor and supply issues I still worry about build quality so will hang on to my 2016 Accord that gets 31mpg city.
Not really a head scratcher if you think about it. The new CR-V is quite a bit bigger than the outgoing model - that means more weight, yes? Therefore (one) less MPG
These guys fail to mention no fog lights on the 2023 model and no rear USB ports for the 2023 EX model and 2023 has no led turn signal lights. The 2022 EX has two rear USB ports, led rear signal lights, and fog lights.
GREAT VIDEO! Love the video angles, but old for 2022 is hardly a correct adjective for dezcription.
I'll admit the 5th gen CR-V was never on the top of my list due to the general classification of being a nurses goto car.
After ownership of the same 2022 model tested here, for the same amount of time; honda styling went in the wrong direction for 2023, and eliminated the budget-luxury touring that some consumers are seeking.
What I would initially describe as ugly for 5 gen, is a reaction to the revolution in styling; and although initial reactions might be standoffish, with time the styling personally grows creating a sense of nostalgia for the uniqueness.
Honda's 6th gen styling is attempting to chase the shape of the Mazada Corp., and will regretably reverse the decision if numbers do not meet sales standards.
Gen 7 sooner than expected? Or will we see intergeneration luxury updates? Gas milage will have to improve for sure!
How much ground clearance do these have? Thinking about Forest Service roads to trailheads.
If you're in southwest BC, definitely not enough for our FSRs. Maybe the super popular easy ones. But older/less popular ones and especially branches/spurs... Nah not a chance. Too many big cross ditches
@@tarfeef101 I'm in Washington state so the target use is mainly Cascade Mountains forest service roads. Our old Outback has about 7.5 inches clearance which has gotten us almost everywhere we've wanted to go around here, even on some very rough roads. I would hope the CRV has at least that much ground clearance. More would be better of course.
The 2022 has 7.8 inches for front wheel drive and 8.2 inches for all wheel drive.
@@seansean681 Thanks. Hopefully the new one has at least 8.2".
I actually don’t like the fact that the crv trim determines the engine type. Why not just make them all hybrid at this point and simplify the lineup, while boosting average mpgs.
Hybrids dont tow well and performance still matters to some of us...... So the turbo is still a better option i just wish they had a type R version .....316hp and AWD come on honda you know you can do it and while your at it make a smaller pickup with this same setup.....ill take one for me and one for the wife please.
@@nazspeed1 The hybrid has better performance with more HP and FAR more torque. Plus electric torque is delivered at 100% at all times, while gasoline is on a curve. Towing is the only issue, but no one tows anything in this class of car.
It looks like an x5 from some angles
Make hrv turbo vs crv turbo
Its Ironic that we here in the Philippines, that exact 2022 Honda CR-V is a 7-Seater CR-V. Same everything but with a 3rd row. 3rd row is cramped as usual
and we do not have the Hybrid Touring variant.. Top of the line trim here is called SX. i was about to get one with the same Red paint but they gave it to somebody. so back to the waiting list.
You guys forgot the mirror camera. It doesn't exist in all the new models. It's the best feature taken away. Along with the back USB ports.

I went to a Honda dealer yesterday to check out the 2023 CRV. The dealer wanted 10k over sticker. No thanks
Honda manipulates the trunk volume numbers.
The trunk cover is very height. I don’t even have a trunk cover in my Forester so this is useless measurement for my use case.
Because the trunk window is relatively small, the rear visibility is lower in comparison to some other in the segment.
Will, I generally like Honda and the product is good
