I see how Tom Cruise would have been an interesting choice for Ozymandias. He is a good guy who is loved and admired by the world and represents the public’s ideal of what a superhero should be and Cruise is the movie star equivalent to that. I love it when Cruise plays a villain and he would be able to make the character ambiguous and have the audience sympathize with him and his diabolical plan.
Cruise as Rorschach however? Not so sure about that one.

Zack is a nice guy, but the fact that Leo was the first place he heard of the idea of Superman fighting the Justice League is really telling. It’s not a new idea at all, it proves Zack knew very very little about the material and it shows in his DC movies. I am going to take out the names of the characters when I am explaining myself and replace the names with "protagonist" and "antagonist" to highlight a point. Here is my perspective.
I am not going to pretend like Jesse was a conventional choice for the antagonist but I liked how a smart, wealthy, quirky, neurotic, and meticulous antagonist interacted with Henry Cavill's character. I liked the articulate and eloquent diatribes that Jesse went on. It went along well with the music and visuals that were in the movie. Could you have named Jesse's character something else? Sure. Does it really change the way the story played out whether his name was one thing or the another? No. This is the way I look at it. The entire story was going to be 5 movies long. Let's say Jesse's character was named something else so the criticism that his character was "illegitimate" or "In Name Only" was put to rest. It wasn't like there was going to be a situation where Jesse's character was going to prohibit another antagonist of the same name to be put to screen. It was never going to be a multiverse. Henry's character needed a foil and in the script Jesse's character served that purpose. From my experience with the antagonist's character he is a foil to the protagonist with intelligence, resources and who is ideologically opposed to the very Idea of the protagonists existence. Another benefit of Jesse's character is his physically more scrawny and unimposing appearance which highlights his inferiority complex to Henry's protagonist which is another key element of the character Jesse was playing and fits my understand of the character. In my perspective that is at the heart of the antagonists character. Another thing. Could we have gotten the bald headed, broad shouldered, deep voiced archetype that we typically associate with the antagonist? Sure. Would it have work? I am sure the story and vision for the movie could have been modified to facilitate that portrayal but then the story also becomes different. Anyway, I really enjoy this interviews. It is great to fascinating how much though really went into these decisions.

If Chris Nolan was also there he could’ve at least considered it.
Don’t forget Chris’s name also had a lot of weight added to the film when Man of Steel was being made.
Based on what we know, Nolan had little to no input on BvS as he did his on Man of Steel where he actually helped Zack with the story outline.
