When it comes to RUclips there are ZERO barriers to entry. We all have a phone in our pockets, and we all have a voice that deserves to be heard. All you need to do is find the courage within yourself to turn that camera on and start talking.

Hi Jacob, just found your channel by chance. I started my RUclips channel last year just to see what would happen whilst I was learning to ride a motorcycle. My channel is building up slowly and it's actually made me more personaly active (getting away from the 9 to 5 grind of life) and I have learnt so much from the editing side of it already. Thanks for your video on this subject.
I’m glad you found me! 😆 it’s amazing what branching out into something new can do for you, it can bring out aspects of you that you never knew were even there.
I’m glad your channel is building up, the key is to NOT GIVE UP! 👍🏻 all the best to you and your channel!
Hi Jacob! I gave this some thought after you mentioned your conversation with your father-in-law. The main question was, as you suggest, what would I talk about? Then I thought about my (2nd) car, a 2013 MX5 that I bought in December. It needs a number of jobs doing and I’m going to have a crack at doing them myself having no previous experience at all. I reckon that could be something people would watch, probably to laugh at my inevitable mistakes 😂. I could also record some drives and places we visit in the MX5. So, I have a friend whose channel has 54k subs (I know, lucky him right!) so I’m going to speak to him about it and get some pointers.
Sounds to me like you’ve got a great idea to start a channel! And don’t forget it can evolve over time, it doesn’t have to stay based around that specific car, that’s just what starts it all off. You can talk people through how you acquired the car, your love for cars in general, teach people how to complete the repairs, talk through the costs of it all, etc.
Trust me if I can do this, then you can do this! 😁 good luck!!!
Hey Jacob, I’m really enjoying your videos. Have been thinking about trying the whole RUclips creator thing but to make documentaries with a voice over rather than putting myself in front of the camera. I’m not sure how well something that can only be posted a few times a year might work on RUclips though.
Hey, thanks for watching I really appreciate it! 😁
I guess you never know unless you try! Maybe you could think of some different content to go alongside the longer form documentaries.
@@JacobBurchellthanks for the advice
I just recently started my channel! It has been very slow going but I am trying to focus on the process not the numbers.
I’ve put off starting it for so long. I finally just told myself that it is OK if my first videos are terrible or cringey. I just need to start!
Don’t worry about how well your first few videos do in terms of views, just try your best and try to learn to be comfortable on camera. Every video you make will be better than the last and as long as you stay consistent, you WILL grow on RUclips 😁 As long as you are yourself, people will be able to relate to you and that is what will enable people to connect to you and want to hit that subscribe button!
@@JacobBurchell thank you so much for your response! This is such a thoughtful message and such good advice. My first few videos have gotten next to no views, but that is ok! I am trying to just focus on consistency. To be honest, lots of days, I feel imposter syndrome hard-core. But I’m trying to remind myself that what knowledge I do have, or even small glimpses into my life, can still be value
