The yz has been awesome for the past two years if it’s not broke don’t fix it however be cool to see new stuff every year
@@Johnny_Hopper so learning to set up a completely new bike, and deal with quality control issues with a 1st year model every single year sounds like a good idea? Come on the manufacturers have NEVER rolled that way. Honestly by far the worst take you’ve ever had and one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen in “moto journalism”.
@@Johnny_Hopper also the bike did change pretty drastic. New shock angle, new engine mounts, new clutch. Would put money on it the bike feels much more compliant, stable, and refined compared to my 24’
This comment doesn't make any sense at all , the YZ has been awesome but we need to change it because it would be cool LOL.
@@herbcanter2114 you clearly haven’t worked in the industry then if you truly believe that. Or raced at a high level
Why fix what isnt broke? The current bike is amazing and if you look at the changes they address some key complaints, ala the foot peg brackets. Also the update to the offroad bikes is probably to calm them down i believe, the front end is super aggressive on them and they can get a little shake at speed. Works great on the track, not so much offroad, you have to make some serious changes to calm the front end down.
Exactly the yz is already a great bike why risk that by changing something that doesn’t need changing
@@brandonespinoza111 yep. Yamaha works the 4 year schedule. No need to play keeping up with the joneses with ktm etc. they just make a good product and redesign it on schedule.
Are the foot peg mounts “fixed”? They kind of looked the same to me.
@@user-mo8tm4jw2lkeeping up? They have better technology than other bikes. Over 10 years of programming your bike while everyone else were sitting around not even close to doing that.
Yeah I’m with you guys what a great bike why touch it
No reason to change yz450f from 23, that thang is sick, I know cause I'm still paying for it😂
Are you drunk Johnny? Yamaha just release this new gen model in 2023-2024 which has won near every shootout since, theyer not going to go releasing a page of changes for the sake of it, just refining a proven model is 100% the correct way to do it. Honda is at the beginning of their cycle, and with those ugly ass radiator shrouds they need to take a step back...
Dude literally What is Johnny on? I was going to make the exact same points you did.
Agreed. WTF? Companies have to make profits. They're not going to be able to do that if every year they have to keep investing in developing and adding big changes, plus things will start having issues like any other 1st year model where you find most your bugs, but now you're constantly in that state, and you're not giving yourself time to study what is and isn't working, and you'll run into instances where you design something great one year, and the next year you replace it because you need to make changes, and you didn't give yourself enough time to properly evaluate the components, and you make it worse. People still rave about the GEN2 Tundra and they went from 07-21. Look at the YZ250, which is still amazingly a great bike. Yamaha isn't doing anything different than anyone else in terms of development cycles, and annual updates to their model lineup, especially when they're widely considered to be one of the best bikes in their respective class.
IDK maybe this is just a good talking point that will get views.
Shrouds look like crap for sure. They went from one of the best-looking bikes in the paddock to what we are seeing now🤦♂️🤙🏁
Loved watching Brian Swink do Larocco's Leap on a 125 smoker !
was a different jump then, but yes, still impressive
Thank you for that. Some people are missing that things have changed @@johnnyofast5924
Even in the 80’s they would stay with the same design for 2 or 3 yrs and then do a major change the next yr!
Every 3 yrs for some major change is fine!!!
You forget the YZ450 and YZ250 have both won the shootouts for like the last 3 years straight right? Honda and Kawasaki are still trying to catch up. They’re not leaving Yamaha in any dust in any way 🤣
The quote is "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking" and is about Timex watches.
Thank u
No worries. Us old guys have lots of mostly trivial stuff like that floating around in our heads.
Hopper…… I would seriously consider complaining about a certain bike colored yellow than nit pick about one of the most innovative and best manufacturers out there. More blue bikes are out there than any and for good reason.Refining is ok with most people. How about a complete overhaul and remake of a bike called Suzuki. I wouldn’t be complaining about that if you complained about that.
Yeah the Yamaha is a mans bike. Out of his league
What and repeat what everyone already knows,,beat another drum man
Exactly
they having wsx in perth, but everyone lives on the other side of the country, i don't think they could possibly have it any further away from the bulk of aussies, fk wsx imo, thanks JH
Change isn't always the best... "Keep it simple stupid" was always what i said to my guys in the Military. 🤘
Honda leaving yamaha in the dust?? Yamaha just redid the whole bike last year bud of course there won't be many changes the following 2025 year lol
Honda and others have to keep trying to catch up. That yam 450 is the shit dude it doesn’t need much. Yamaha typically does 4 year cycles. With some mild changes on year 3. The only complaint I’ve heard is the footpegs where some say its hard to grip the frame with toes in on pegs because the peg mount is what you are stepping on not the pegs themselves. The clutch changes are likely to get more oil flow into in. Pros have been critical of this but most have no issues.
It's great to see the older brands trying to up their game even though they might be able to get by with fewer improvements. The Japanese bikes have a great advantage because they produce a lot of bikes and likely make a lot of money not on the bike itself, but on parts which are widely available.
I prefer the every 2-4 year cycle for machine development. But I am on a 22 YZ250X which is basically the same as a 06YZ250 so I really have no skin in the game.
I’d like to see manufacturers stick with the same basic motors and replacement parts. That way there will be replacement parts available for many years.
Triumph doesn't have the production rule for the MXGP's. It is very possible that we may see changes based off some of the data.🏁🤙
Trey Canard does good coverage on the changes of Japanese manufacturers. They are very slow and reluctant on things. That's why you see the Austrian brands try so many different things each year in comparison.
Great bike for a really great price honestly. If it ain't broke, don't fuggin fux it lol! If I were to go out and buy a brand new bike it'd be a YZF for sure. Price isn't totally outta hand, and it's just all around a solid bike.
Jett said he rode the 25 prototype in 22 , so is it old or new , change isn't always good 😊
When manufacturers release new bikes there already working on newer generation models that wont be released for another 3 to 4 years. Jett didn't just ride 2025 in 2022 Jett, Hunter and Tim Gajser have been apart of developing the 2025 crf production bikes since 2022 first time ever a manufacturer has gotten their top riders and factory team input in production level bike the 2025 works edition has actual hrc factory parts and input, not just stickers and anodized parts to make it look factory like all other manufacturers.
@@Nicko_92 it was a joke
Isnt the surface of the run up to Larocco's leap adjusted for each event?
I remember hearing an interview with someone from the track crew during MXON. They were trying to make it so only the top 2 or 3 guys could jump from the inside line, and about half the field could do it from the outside line. I'm sure i have the details wrong but that was the basic idea
Yamaha literally updated the a whole new model in 2023 so not surprised it’s the same bike for 25 , I’d imagine an updated model will have 27/28
Throttle tube spacing* so that the doughnut part doesnt get stuck on the housing when twitsting the whick. Less whiskey throttle and smoother performance laid over in corners. Not simply an odi swap. That's silly
Two wheel news from the world Craig, not just the U.S. but THE WORLD CRAIG! Keep up the great work Hopper!
Chase Sexton said he was hitting it 2nd gear pinned. Matty B did it on a stock YZ 450. Moisman talked to a kid on an 85 said he was hitting it 3rd gear pinned. Why did Josh come up so short?
These are just improvements on the 3rd year of this generation. I'd assume they're sorting out small quirks in this generation hence the small chassis updates. Yamaha releases a new generation every 4 years (5 this past time) with the 250 always following a year behind the 450. So I'd expect more drastic changes on the '27. I agree the throttle tube is laughable because no one runs the stock one very long if at all.
Yamaha usually release new bikes at washougal
More trail bikes sold than MX bikes, look at how many 300 2 stroke you can buy Sherco, GG, KTM, Husky, TM, Beta and others
Johnny boy the Karen of the sport prove me wrong 🤷♂️
We've gotten to the point that bikes really aren't getting much better, so why keep redesigning machines just for the sake of being new? How many new bikes end up being a step backwards? (Honda and KTM come to mind). It's not the 80s and 90s anymore, where there was drastic technological advances every year. Now, you can run a bike from 15 years ago, tune it up really well, and be completely competitive. Slow refinement over time is best; redesign when you've maxed out the platform's potential. That's smart engineering.
Need to do a video on Uk mx championship getting cancelled this weekend due to lack of entries….!
O no way
Everyone who is ridden the stark varq or other ebike has said it’s a whole new world. All petrol powered bikes are now vintage racers. Might be fun. Might look smell and sound cool, but every rider will be
Faster and better off with ebikes. And they will be
Cheaper. Honda and Yamaha will fight it to their death.
They are really blowing it at red bud! The leap is the main attraction and they are screwing it up! There is no way they should have all that soft loamy crap at the run up. Put some good dirt there and give people the show they came to see. And maybe less people get hurt. Making it more difficult is obviously not keeping guys safer.
i'm from Aus, and the first thing that made me laugh was the way you pronounced Perth 😂😂 i had to go back and listen a couple more times lol. but all good mate 👍
😁 my bad
Bro they just completely redid the yz not long ago lmaoo so you want them to make a whole new bike each year. And then you mention that Honda is leaving them in the dust hahah Honda kept the same bike for quite a while and now they’re changing it up. So when Honda has the same bike next year is that ok?
Poor Man's Cooksey.
He blew that Kawi's rear shock.
yamaha could have done what kawasaki did in 2024 and take a step backwards.
Kinda cool an' all but not one mention about the sport of curling.
does mxgp rip the track less
Johnny , are you aware that the Honda's 450's have come in 5th in nearly every shootout over the last two to three years with Yamaha coming in first or 2nd at the worst ?
I’m trading my new Fi Ktm for a yz250, can’t beat a reliable carb
HONDA vs SUZUKI development. See a difference?
F TDF…destroyed Armstrong knowing damn well everyone is doping.
Think Johnny needs to go back and read the 450 shootouts the last two years , you don't change things when a bike gets that type of praise .
Triumph isn’t doing good over here because their riders aren’t good. Put a top guy on the bike and you’ll get better results 👍🏻
"Pur th" Australia or "pear ith" Australia hehehehe
For motogp dude!
Johnny , please tell me your logic behind not being impressed with the bike that won nearly every if not every single 450 shootout the last two years? You don't change a bike for the sake of change .
Can you go back to 1996 and tell that to Honda 🤣🤣🤣
I like the NEW Yamaha, the ergonomics make it look Really Fast , they have been behind Honda the last few years, and there new ergos, make the bike look like it's evenly weighted of the 70/ 30 rear , front weight, so I bet it rides outdoors more like the 21 22 models. But VERY FAST since it's skinnier and it will Efn rip on the SX tracks , once Star gets this platform it will be VERY FAST , and I bet they have WILL BEST Honda in the bikes Setup, AND MOST Importantly in the ECU Tech!!!!!, THEY watched Jett and his 10 year advanced Honda so YAMAHA has made a new bike that will not Only BEAT HONDA, It'll go head to head against the Incoming Ducati , iT MAY LOOK simple TO YOU JOHNNIE but itll be faster , i bet onnit , ESP if ET3 IS ON IT , HE WILL WIN THE 2025 SX on this new bike 💯👍👍
Johnny stay in your lane you cross jumping in my opinion!!!
This week in moto-tour de France 🤦🏽♂️
On two wheels
Everyone rants and raves about Suzukis and they are 8k out the door at my local dealers stop blowing smoke johnny
Flagger woes continue in todays qualifying and just look at the idiot holding the flag says it all. 1. Jason Anderson Unadilla 2023 2. Garret Marchbanks press day Fox raceway 2024. 3. Deegan Red Bud 2024 3.Josh Mosiman Red Bud 2024 4. Anderson Millville Qualifying.
Nobody cares what u say lol
So you bash cooksey for talking bad about coombs and the ama and then you trash the new yamaha mx bikes because yamaha is trying to keep prices down. Nobody needs more computer program garbage on the bikes. There is already too much junk on them now. You cant even mount handguards on handlebars anymore because of all the frikn buttons and switches everywhere. The motor compartments look like a sportbike with a million wires and black boxes everywhere
I made a joke but if u want to compare that’s on u bro
I like both of you. Watch both of you. The fact you bring two different mindsets is what makes both of you worth watching.
