Nice video.
I think the main issues with demomen sticky jumping more often is the all in nature of going forward as demo. A soldier can jump in and chase the medic but also is able to get out due to the lesser HP cost of every jump.
The risk of doing this as demoman is that if the play doesn't go as planned you can get caught out with no way to escape, there can also be times when you just don't have the HP to continue the chase in comparison to other classes.
To me this puts demoman in the area where playing this aggressively with sticky jumping is only really when you have uber to mitigate a large portion of the damage you'll take. Having said that, I do think demoman should be used as a uber forcing class a lot more. But, being a demoman down in a 6v5 scenario holding process middle is a lot harder to hold than being a soldier down in the same position.

Perhaps if the booties were given a similar "-75% self damage" it would work. Demoknights and hybrid knights don't have stickies and you'd have to give up your grenades which is a big downside compared to the demoman on the enemy team.

I cant believe you even defended pogos. You are so right tho, at the end of the day, jump maps are excellent, enjoyable ways to get experience in movement techniques that you may know about but wouldnt be comfortable trying inna match
I never knew about the single pre and it turns out that I can do it much more reliably than air stickies. Thanks for teaching it in this video.

God, JA server performance is terrible and the maps are designed for soldier so there is not much challenge when its not lagging

Jump maps are good for practicing stickies and pub servers for pipes and mge to put it all together. There is no debate jump maps help with fluid movement.

I know how to do basic rocket jumps and I have a little bit of knowledge on air control/strafing. Would you advise learning more advanced techniques with rocket jumping first, or could I start practicing with sticky jumping right away?
there's a lot of overlap between the two but ultimately they are still separate entities, it's really up to you with what you enjoy

Literally all i do is play sticky jumper demo and either carpet bomb with iron bomber or just whack someone with a caber when i land

Been fucking around with the iron bomber and i think imma skip this and learn how to pill pogo first so sticky jumping feels like child's play just like when i learned to rocket jump with the airstrike first and now rocket jumping with the direct hut feels easy even tho it's kind of not encouraged imo.

Why not just show how effective this tactic is in a competitive setting with a team?
mostly because of how much easier it is to get the footage offline. any jump you can do on a competitive map you can also do with an uber in a real setting, however

@@donovin_ You can type sv_cheats 1 in the console and then cl_drawhud 0 for the hud to dissapear! You can also type r_drawviewmodel 0 if you don't want your gun model on screen to take screenshots or wahtever!

as far as im aware, a weapons damage modifier doesn't apply to self damage taken from jumping, so no it should be the same

maybe as a separate sticky launcher or even a replacement to pipes, but if that was included in stock demo that would be busted beyond belief
