The 6 "pins" securing the top of the grill are called blind rivets and I did the same for my 2010 Jeep Wrangler Islander. I used the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra H13 lamps which cost me $61.99 for a pair at Advance Auto Parts. I also used a very small amount of dielectric grease on the socket where the bulb plugs into the electrical connector. I am not interested in buying LEDs that cost much, much more. And I am also going to replace the headlights themselves with new OEM equivalents which will work fine. I am content not to have the best of everything on my Jeep with the exception of the front brake pads (Raybestos Element 3) and the tires (Firestone Destination A/T2).

Thanks for the explanation, Stephen. I didn't know what the blind rivets were called, but they're cool how they work. Matt said the Jeep headlights are some of the worst. The Sylvania ones we installed made such a difference and made everything so bright. Matt ended up getting some actual LED lights (J.W. Speaker brand), and it's insane how bright those are. For most things, I think the Sylvania would be good for most situations, but we often drive back from remote parts of New Hampshire late at night, and there's no streetlights, so Matt wanted brighter ones. I think many newer cars have good lights (BMW, Honda...), but then others (like our Jeep) seem yellow and dim. I used to ask him if the lights were on sometimes because they seemed like parking lights.

Hi MrDimos. Thanks for your comment because it reminded me that I forgot to post a new video we just made about a new set of headlights Matt got. To answer your question, yes, the bulbs helped a lot. They were much brighter than the stock ones, but they didn't change the beam pattern, so they didn't light up further down the road, which was he wanted. He kept them for a couple years but just bought a set of J.W. SPEAKER 8700 Evolution J2 LED Headlights. He really didn't want to spend the money, but they're much less than the Mopar brand and work amazing. They are way brighter than the bulbs shown in this video, and they light up far down the road, even in low beam mode. I apologize for the long comment, but if you want the best brightness, the J.W.'s are the way to go, but if you don't want to spend a lot (comparatively) and still get a brighter view, the bulbs work great. Thank you watching and the comment. If you want to see the new video I just posted, you can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/c10pUskFDfI/видео.html

@MarkDHall thanks I just replaced mine today and the bulbs were very black with soot. Hopefully once I'm driving at night I'll be able to see. As for replacing the housing, I'll wear these down and consider something better

@@Dimos357 I am replacing my headlights with OEM reflector equivalents, because the clear lens just keeps on getting yellow after i polish it to almost like new but I've been told that is because that is how plastic ages in sunlight.
