Measure from the center of the headlight to ground for height as not all Jeeps are at the same height then subtract 2” from headlight height. Eg if headlight center or dot headlight is 38” from ground then 36” at 25’ ft away from a vertical wall on level surface would be correct.
It’s super nice to hear you explain it in simple format for an idiot like me. Unlike some other videos that give you all these numbers when I just need simple. Thank bro have a great day! Merry Christmas!
Bro thank you for this video... I literally got pulled over for my lights yesterday and definitely gotta pop that hood and adjust 😎10 thumbs up for still putting this video out there with a shoulder sling
I got pulled over last night and the cop asked me if I had been getting flashed, I said no (I don't remember anyone flashing me). My headlights were installed by a handyman over a year ago and last night was the first I knew of the problem (although I wouldn't have known why they were flashing me if my lights were on and regular beam, because I don't drive with high beams). Cop thought my beams were on high, nope. Anyway, he was nice and didn't give me a ticket.
Most informative and explanatory tutorial on the adjusting of Wrangler headlights. Thank you so very much for putting this out there! I just installed an LED package on mine and I had wondered how I was going to adjust them. Happy wheeling!!
There are other video's that say that you adjust the left headlight 2 inches below the right headlight you adjusted your headlights level with each other.
No... incorrect... at 3 feet, you made no accounting for the angle. If a vehicles headlights are 3 feet off the ground then they would adjust to being parallel to the ground... And lots of drivers angrily flashing them. What you need is 2" of drop in 25 feet of distance. So 3 feet would only be accurate at 25' if your jeeps headlights are 3 feet 2 inches when up close to the wall. Here are the correct steps for ANY vehicle: 1) Mark headlight height on wall at 5 feet of distance. 2) Back vehicle up to 30 feet distance. 3) Adjust height so they are 2 inches lower than the tape marks. You're welcome.
This is a good video . I love flashbacks as much as the next guy however it has occurred to me that, legally speaking, I’m in the wrong even if just the misadjusted low beams are on. So here I am. Anyways good video and good thing to do to finish up the lift.
Nice vid bro and kudos for doing it all with one hand...I just wanted to say that it i think your still a little high...You were suppose to put the tape at the center height of your vehicles headlights, then adjust down the prescribed number of inches...i forget the exact height but if your lights center of reference from the ground is higher than 36", you should be 2" below the center line of your tape...if it's less than 36" then your beams are level with your reference tape. Atleast that's what the SAE teaches...Not downing what you done, just point it out for future reference.
About to do this this evening. Switched out my stock halogens for some LEDs. Still don't understand why Jeep installs crap headlights. Mine isnt a Rubicon but still an overland rocky ridge build. For 83k you would think there would be decent LED lights
There is a bit of a thrill with unajusted LEDs when people flash you and you flash back like "THIS ISNT EVEN MY FULL POWER!!" but when people start to strobe you on the highway and you actually are blinded... You know it's time to adjust them.
Thanks for the vídeo men I’m having same issues but when I try to put the headlight down it won’t work on either way like the screw will move but no the headlight u know why Thanks 🙏🏻
My 02 Infinity Qx4 has HID, It's lifted and I have correctly adjusted them. I constantly get flashed, but then they get to see what my brights are like. I just think of it as a game; who's bigger...
One thought, if you measure the height of your headlights from the ground up, would that be the correct height on the garage door? Some vehicles are obviously lower to the ground.
Correct... you can use any distance you want, but you have to know your starting close up light height (which he didn't show or even mention) The math is easier when you use centimeters - its basically 1cm drop for ever 5 feet of distance (about 7/16").
Not the correct way to adjust will fail in most countries that check beams doing this. . Need to measure from headlight center dimple to floor then tape this to wall as of course every vehicle is different. Then the drivers side is minus 4" and passenger side is -minus 2" below centre at 25ft on a FLAT and LEVEL road.
Gokd video. But I think those who have vehicles that have high clearance. For example, jeep, sun's, pickups, they should adjust downward even more. I personally y think they're unsafe. Blinding people on low beam. Imagine high beam. Thanks for trying though. Hopefully people will prevent blinding others like deer.
The housing sucks. It causes so much shatter that the light goes everywhere in these halogens which is why people flash you. Think of dropping a lightbulb and where everything shatters. That’s how the damn lights dissipated in these.
The white color temp don't help either, softer yellow is far safer than the stupid white laser lights you see in after market LEDS, 6500K Is too much unless it's mounted on the side of a police car
Actually they're too high stock as well. Anyone who buys a new JL should adjust the headlights as soon as they get home and then again if they lift it.🔧
Best of luck with the shoulder man. No excuses for not adjusting if you can do with one hand 🤣. Question-do you still have your factory wheels and flares? Wanna sell them?
Ben Anton I may be grabbing a Mojito Green Sport S in the Midwest and drive it back to Philly. If so, I’ll hit you up and maybe drive through?!? We could work it out in advance and save us both some cash and energy.
No - need to adjust to existing height of current headlights near to the wall as the starting point. A 2" lift is 2" inches lower than a 4" lift. 1997-2006 TJ's use a T-15 Torx bit.
@@StockDude you can adjust fog lights but they'll never aimed high enough to blind someone, unless they are looking right at them. Fog lights usually get pointed directly at the ground.
Actually something you can hang your hat on. Very useful. My only qualm is the fact that you excessively repeat yourself. I got it the first time. I promise. Lol
I thought about getting LED bulbs for my vehicles, but one of my biggest pet peeves is brand new trucks (I'm sure everyone knows which ones I'm talking about) that have the coolest looking headlights that blind me from a HALF MILE away. I'm sure it is illegal or will be when the body count goes high enough. I've dropped mine like 8 inches lower than specified at 25' and people still flash their brights.most the time they also have leds too though so wtf.😂
It’s super nice to hear you explain it in simple format for an idiot like me. Unlike some other videos that give you all these numbers when I just need simple. Thank bro have a great day! Merry Christmas!
It didn't matter with factory lights, they were so dim. But I've been getting flashed a ton with new led. Great video, I'm fixing tonight
Excellent point, everyone should at some point check the aim of the lights even if there was no lifting involved, thanks for sharing.
Bro thank you for this video... I literally got pulled over for my lights yesterday and definitely gotta pop that hood and adjust 😎10 thumbs up for still putting this video out there with a shoulder sling
this helps me out i get flashed every night it's to a point where i was gonna put my jeep up till i figured something out.

1 recommendation i would add is to Cover one headlight as you are adjusting the other

With a lifted vehicle you should actually go about 3 inches below the center measurement of your headlights.
There are other video's that say that you adjust the left headlight 2 inches below the right headlight you adjusted your headlights level with each other.
Good info and video. But is the 3ft rule good for all cars, or just for your Jeep? Or is that the max height for any vehicle?
Like how you blocked out your plate in thumbnail but show it first couple seconds lol love how the Jeep is turning out!
It looked better in the thumbnail than when it isn’t blocked out, too distracting haha

Yup 🎉
Some people drop the driver light a bit lower
Oh your one of them *******'s with excessively bright lights 😂
Dont listen to this clown
Thank you! The quilt I feel every morning going to work blinding ppl.
JL Solo, no co pilots needed. You got this with one arm. Useful knowledge. Great video. Thanks.

I'm in Hawaii now and last night, I had a police flash me . Talk about looking like a emoji. Speedy recovery. Oh yeah sitting on 37's.
How far are you from the garage? 25 ft? Yes. At 3:00 you explain. Thx!
Thanks Ben, I will adjust them ! Best regards from The Netherlands 🇳🇱❤️🇺🇸👍✌️✌️✌️✌️
How do you get 3 feet tall from ground up
How did you get that
About to do this this evening. Switched out my stock halogens for some LEDs. Still don't understand why Jeep installs crap headlights. Mine isnt a Rubicon but still an overland rocky ridge build. For 83k you would think there would be decent LED lights
So if i aim it at 3 feet mark then it wont blind other drivers? Im in a 90s suburban not lifted but its quite high as most trucks are.
Does it matter if you have lift kits or is this for any Jeep?
What brand LED did you use for the headlights.
Thanks man spread awareness. Also use proper LEDs and do your research before installing one. This is a good example of light cutouts.
Is the 3 feet a fixed height no matter how high your truck is sitting
Thank you a straight forward explanation on how to do this.

Something might be binding. Try turning the screw & shaking the head light at the same time, it might move.

Is this on any car or ute ??
Simple adjustment!! Keep healing up brother
What fenders are those?
Hey - you know what’s good for shoulder pain?
😏😏
Thx Ben, hope that arm healed up well !
I need to do this on my liberty I installed less and they shin up alot is it kinda the same thing with adjusting them
Perfect bro, I got lots of help with your video. Thanks
Where did you buy your LEDs?
I need to redo mine, still too high after the lift 👍 ...thanks for reminding me
Wow Thank so much man, I got some knowledge skills now
How far away did you park?

Awesome video mate, I need to do this to my lights
I wish someone could do the math in 5 ft increments away from the surface. Can't get 25 ft away from my garage, I'll be in the road
OMG! What are those step sides!? I must know.
Amp steps
Thanks for this video man, i get flash all the time and i get so pissed off and flashed them back lol
I have some plain halogens and people still flash me. Even aimed properly. Can’t wait to see what they do with the LEDs I just swapped in

fog lights ?? need adjusted to ??
No fog lights won’t be aimed high enough to blind others
You can't adjust fog lights.
@@80smxpro41 , sure you can. My 01 sierra can be adjusted. I just put some on, but don't know exact adjustment to make tho.

LED are just bright anyways. Adjusting them won’t save you from people flashing. Just flash back!!
Colorado clown instead of crown, goof
Or lower them a bit more because you are impairing other driver's ability to see... which is dangerous to them and you.
I thought leds are illegal. People doing read very well online.
Im an idiot i was wondering why people were flashing me and now i know i have to adjust the aim on my new LED haha.
thanks bro hi impact led awesome but those peasants just done understand lol
I was here to see how to adjust the Fog lights...
I honestly hate driving at night now.
No wonder miata drivers wear sunglasses at night
I get about 7-8 homeless people to stand in a line for me when I adjust my headlights....🤷🏽♂️🥴
