Jeeez. Brought my E500 to the Benz dealer for a new bumper and then when they gave it back, my headlights weren’t even able to give me a sight 200meters away, where as I normally would have seen it 500meters away! After telling them that my headlights weren’t correct 10x, they finally gave it back the way I brought it in, I thought my headlights were broken! ( I got the MB LED Adaptive headlights, they’re pricey!) Now I finally understand what the cause could have been all the time. You sir are awesome.
Man. I'm going to buy from your site for the simple fact that you made so many F30 videos for random stuff I never knew how to do on a BMW. Like headlights or windshield wipers. Salute!
The driver's side is supposed to point lower than the passenger's side, by design. To avoid blinding oncoming traffic. That line in the middle is supposed to be continuous, and the stepping of the lights clear.
Thanks for your informative instructions. We can only do the best we can with whatever materials we can improvise without OEM equipment. For those who are trying to adjust and align, you are doing a great favour by not annoying oncoming drivers. Thanks again.
Just got an f30. My passenger side lowbeam is WAY higher than the driver side I almost thought my light was broken somehow on the driver side lol Really threw me off tonight! This solved that problem!
I have a question. If my headlight beams were badly adjusted from the start (assuming one was shining far up and the other was far down) and I drive up as close to the wall as I can then make the indications, wouldn’t that indication be wrong already to begin with ? Because when I put the tape on, one side would be higher than the other already correct ? So what’s the point of adjusting them based on the markings ?
I saw a different version of aiming the horizontal axis. They say the focus should be the upper turning point rather than the lower one, so the whole light on the wall should move to the right a little bit to avoid blinding oncoming cars.
i got aftermarket xenon like, but halogen beam in the projector housing, and this is extermely useful info from beginning to end... i got the headlight fitted but it is not straight or nothing close to it, now i know hot to fix it
Thanks for all your great tips and DIY info on this channel! How do you fix the right/left adjustment on the headlight if it does not turn the light when you rotate the screw driver either clockwise or counter-clockwise? I think the adjuster is malfunctioning. The Passenger side worked great but the Driver side is not working at all. BMW 2014 F30 328i XDrive Wagon, Thanks for any help you can offer!
thanks man. i just tuned my 2009 E90 light. they were pointing so low, it was annoying me. i thought they would self auto level, but that little phillips screw fixed the issue. i can see again lol
Mine are pointing at the ground lol. Aimed at the ground, can't figure out why. Are their other adjustment screws beyond the top ones on the light assembly housing?
Hi, nice video thanks for taking the time to make and post. May I point out Xenon and LED lights in the UK (and your vehicle) have automatic pitch beam setting control.. Because of this, the range adjustment control unit must be place into basic setting mode to disable the range motors prior to adjusting the settings to allow you to set the beams to the mechanical basic setting or you are wasting you time as when you move off, the auto setting will compensate for all the careful measuring and adjustments you have just made.
Hi. I canlt find anywhere online with this information. You;re not referrifng to the adaptive headlights are you? Have just bought a 2016 F31and dipped is way too low. Thanks
I have a very similar beam pattern. I can’t get it completely flat. That adjustment you did right there will have dark spots in the middle and left side of beam
Hey Bryan, how this can be done with a BMW Led light? It is a 4 series 2018 but I can see 6 LEDs on the wall :S I can't identify the center of the light. Please advise
Very nicely explained. My mechanic replaced one xenon headlight of my bmw f30 and since then I am having warning of headlight vertical beam malfunction and also both headlights are not syncing. Replaced one stays on after locking the car and it glare is also lesser then then other one. . Could it be a sensor re-adjustment near the boot of the front tyre. Please help with any advice.
This video is incredibly helpful, thank you. Would you consider doing a remake with LED headlights. The pattern is so different I had having trouble identifying the hotspot.
i have 4 headlights that were alligned perfectly... took it to the shop for new headlights and now one points up.. one points down the brights... i dont know..... BMW 528i 1999 will this work>? the shop said when i took it back... oh... you need alignment... LOL.... they messed it up
Are you sure, there isnt any software adjustment needed ? I have curve light system and beam light assistent. Dont you need to tell the car its new " zero level " after lowering it ?
is there the same adjuster screws on a 2013 Subaru Outback. My low beams only reach out about 15 feet in front. I need to see further out at night ! Thanks.
Great vídeo. Don't you think that the right beam is a little bit more warm than the left beam ? In my car it seems a little bit more yellow, or a little bit less efective than the left one. I first saw this in my F30's xenon. Now watching your video it looks just like mine... I was concerned about that being some kind of trobble, but maybe it is a caracterstic of these cars headlights. What do you think ?
Can someone clarify something for me. I have the vertical aim failure. halogen, non adaptive headlights. Am I right in saying that the headlights can be manually adjusted and in order to pass the uk m.o.t ? Thank you.
Bear in mind that adjusting both lights in the same level only applies to BMW xenons. The halogens are set traditionally, i. e. passenger light is always slightly higher
can anyone help me? when i close the hood on my car my headlights fall and aim at the ground it seems like something is loose because they won’t stay up , they just fall and aim at the ground? any help appreciated
Hey I have a question about the depo lights, is there a way to change the bulb for the hi beam? and if so could upload a video or give me a brief description please.
In the UK at least your lights should not be level as you have adjusted yours, the passenger side lights are set lower than the drivers side, and the drivers side light is angled more toward the centre of the vehicle!
Thank you for all your videos, you are really good!! Question for you, I am trying to decided between a BMW series 3 M or the series 4 M. Which you would you pick and why? Thank you in advance!
you should do a tutorial on how to install M3 mirrors, replacing your stock ones. It will also make your car look wayyy better even though its already great!
Thank you very much man, you saved my money&time. I managed to fix my f21’s right headlight adjustment myselfy. It was corrupted after a little car crash which I had from the front bumper’s right side. I’m just curious of something. Do you know the ideal distance between the right-left beam on wall? I mean on my f21, they seemed pretty close to eachother but theyre centered well actually, which is why Im not soo sure about if its wrong too.
Excellent video, many many thanks! I've just fitted Adaptive LED's to my F82 and they are miles out. I was stressing it was going to cost me a fortune to get BMW to adjust them for me. :)
Great video! Thanks! Any idea on how to calibrate the high-beam so that the adaptive lights are spot on for oncoming traffic and "shadow box" for tailgating. Is this something DIY or should I take the car to the dealer?
1:02, dont all BMW`s got self leveling headlights? Ive never had a car where i had to manually adjust it... Even my 2011 prius got self leveling headlights, and btw, im considering in a year or so to change from my 2011 prius to a 2013 or so 316 (i cant afford anything more then that), how is the headlights on those? my 2011 got full LED headlights and it lights up the road as it was day. Does also the xenon/LED version of the 3 series that?
They do, but only to a point. My car has "auto leveling", but when you do things like lower your car, it gets all out of wack and needs an adjustment like this. All light versions should be adjustable
Great video's, especially the repair and maintenance videos. Very informative. Keep up the good work. Any chance you can do a Xenon bulb upgrade review using the stock F30 headlights with lux readings ect. I know there are a lot of reviews on RUclips about xenon bulb upgrades. There is one slight flaw, they all tend to test them in aftermarket lenses and the outcome can vary across different lens brands. Thanks.
Can you all pluck dents out of an F30 and do minor paint correction? Some idiot slammed my car with his door more than once, so I can assume intentionally.
Thanks for the video! I have to say; my BMW has been a nightmare starting with the ride itself (noisy, rough, feel) to the headlights (dim and practically pointing at the ground) to the technology issues ( no Apple CarPlay or map icons) and BMW will NOT do anything to assist!! They replaced the rack opinion steering twice already and supposedly changed the bearings and ball joints which worked for about a few weeks and the car went right back to driving like shit again.. I personally think this year model has some sort of design flaw and BMW wants to keep it quiet to avoid a costly recall and that’s NOT fair! I came from Mercedes, and thought they were bad.. boy was I wrong! I will NEVER buy another BMW!! And I will advise anyone I know to do the same! Apple CarPlay for example.. it’s a simple code and/or program update and they will NOT allow their customers to buy it. So STUPID on their part because I personally know several people who will NOT buy anything from BMW for that very reason..
I have a 2016 340i and, believe it or not, that year and model is missing a piece of hardware that would allow the software to work (but the 330i has the correct receiver). Bimmertech has a checker that will tell you if a software update will work, or whether the dash needs to be completely disassembled to get a new receiver ($1,000) in there from a 2017+ model year.

I lowered my F22 a few weeks ago and I noticed my headlights were aiming too damn high. This video was so helpful! Thank you SO MUCH! 🙏🏼

I always get flashed from oncoming traffic. Will definitely check and align my lights. Thanks for the great video!! Really appreciate all your advice.
Yep, this is what you need to do!
The driver's side is supposed to point lower than the passenger's side, by design. To avoid blinding oncoming traffic. That line in the middle is supposed to be continuous, and the stepping of the lights clear.
you are right. The passenger light is higher to shine at signs
My headlights were pointing at the sky, so I just slammed my front suspension.
that is a 200 IQ move sir

Does a 2018 Toyota allow you to adjust headlights horizontally?

This was awesome!! My lights were all over on my F30.............Thank you!!!
BMW Xenon headlights adjust their hight automatically to the set hight, so weight in the trunk or an empty fuel tank don‘t matter.
But you need to set their default(reference) value at first. Then they adjust themselves according to weight.
i got aftermarket xenon like, but halogen beam in the projector housing, and this is extermely useful info from beginning to end...
i got the headlight fitted but it is not straight or nothing close to it, now i know hot to fix it

My xenon headlights are too high. And manual adjustment ended. Can I lower them by ista?
Can you adjust your headlight if your headlight leveler motor have gone bad i dont want to change it
great video! and is there any way to move them right or left on a E90 ? or just up and down ?

maybe ill just adjust may driver sit light in half inch and also my passenger too .. dont need to drive reverse at 25 feet
Super usefull! I just got a f30 335xd and the lights are pointing the ground dude... Not from tomorrow on tho! Thanks
Might be a stupid question but what if the headlights are adaptive led ones?
Still need to do the same thing?
Yep, should be the same. These lights are adaptive
Hi, a question that is not related. Can I switch the xenon with led light bulb? Will it affect anything?
I feel like my lights are way too low. I can barely see 20 feet in front of me; seems like I'mma have to try this adjustment..
replaced my front springs and shocks and i carry allot of stuff for work and there pointing to the moon does my head in
I replace my headlight with depo and put led bulb unfortunately no one in my area knows how to do this alignment.
Do you need to start the alignment on the highest height for the lights ?
No, shouldn't matter
I've NEVER been able to find, much less reach, the alignment/aiming screws on a Toyota Sienna (2008).
Exactly what kind of hex screw is it?
Hi men, can you do a video on the headlight ride height sensor pls? F30 bmw owner

In Europe it's 10 meter and 10cm below, and he made a mistake, it's the low part of the beam that should be 10cm below.
Need to do this on my F30. People coming the other way are having arkeye off my lights.

Before we aim the headlights, should we put the headlight switch to auto or low beam?
I did auto, I believe..
@@KiesMotorsports no, it's manual low beam, important for adaptative headlight.
