"Disable your weapon systems and await our incredibly peaceful response" LOL Sounds genuine, what could go wrong?
I love the fact the forst aliens have a sense of humour 😁
"Does incredible mean less than credible?"
"await our incredibly peaceful response"
Fucking great. 😁
@@zippyfreak too bad he bit the dust
Nothing ever good comes from Earth's first encounter with bug-like aliens. I just finished a series of books that had "chitin" aliens in it, and they needed squashing as well. Love to see a series on this Splatt. 👍
A good bug is a dead bug"....
Do
Your
Part!
@@Poctyk would you like to know more?
I’m doing my part!
@@Deaznkid280 Are you? :D
Yep. your a 40k fan if your first reaction is 'xenos? charge the lance.' jeebus lmao
When you originally showcased this game I was intrigued and put it on my steam wish list. When it left early access I bought it and I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Thanks for showing this game because it alerted me to its existence and the developers got a purchase out of it.
"Take that you lithic prowler" - Best line on youtube in 2020 so far. Cheers Splatters
9:42 - 10:11 I'm subbing based on the emotion in that statement. This was very enjoyable.
This does look like a fun little game :) thanks for you hard work finding all the fun ones for us
Commander BangsonFools? God I love you splatt.
Edit : I'd gladly watch more of this btw...and probably buy it.
"My name is not BangsonFools for no reason whatsoever. We take care of business out here on behalf of Starcom. We're some Roughnecks. We're gunna be out here choking out aliens and body slamming moons. They don't understand, they thought this was a survey mission. Heelllll no, this is a war mission!" this might honestly be my favorite tangent Splatt has ever gone on and quite the rousing speech if I do say so.
That's a blast from the past. There used to be a cartoon called Starcom while I was just entering school, I quite liked it. Looks kinda similar to the game too.
That show had the best toys, but sadly the show failed and got discontinued way to early.
Would love another episode.
Not necessarily a series, but a bit more indepth look to see what more there is to this game.
id like to see u play more of this, ur funny commentary fits it pretty well lol
i would love to see a bit more of this game i think its really entertaining to watch!
Did you really miss the reference to the classical mythological characters of Jason and the Argonauts?
I think he did, I came to say the same thing.
He's american, their history and culture starts around the enlightenment.
@@AlucardNoir Well that seems a harsh judgement...
@@yaumelepire6310 It's not, the "founding fathers" of the US were big fans of ancient greek and roman mythology, but your average american peasant knew as much about them as your average european peasant did.
Fallowing the Renaissance european elites became fascinated by the Ancient world - and for good reason, a lot was lost in Europe after the fall of Rome. The Enlightenment started bringing education to the masses and the elites decided what would be studied. The industrial revolution changed the priorities of educational institutions. Europe kept a lot more of the old enlightenment ideas for a lot longer. The US on the other hand, especially when there is no single federal governing body that can mandate a centralized curriculum...
Don't get me wrong, you're very likely to find a lot of people Splat's age here in Europe not knowing who Jason was, but I'm willing to bet there are a lot more in the US.
@@AlucardNoir As your average U.S peasant, I knew the reference, but then I was more into history and mythology as a kid. It depends partially where interests lie as well, Splattercat is a rather intelligent guy, went to school for geology if I am not mistaken. Maybe Greek mythos just escapes his interest..
Hahaha Jason and the Argonaughts reference. I luv it.
This looks like an interesting game. Thanks for the gameplay video.
This game is great, hope you do a series
Series yes.!!!!
Splatt doesn’t seem to do series anymore.
Space-drive-by with a ship that's faster than a space station. Stuff like this is why I love you Splatty!
Thought for the day: Purge the Xenos in every game you encounter it!
You're travelling ~13Au's per second in this game, those planets would be roughly a BILLION MILES in diameter lmfao
someone's never heard of a superearth smh my head
@@battleoid2411 Not to mention superspacestations. Everyone's heard about them!
From what I can find, VY Canis Majoris (VY CMa)is the largest known star @2600 solar radii. A solar radius = 432,288 miles, so this star is 1,123,948,800 miles in diameter. No known planets even come close to this size. 🔭
@@battleoid2411 super-earths aren't even the size of Neptune. the largest possible planet would be around double the size of jupiter, if you make it larger, the forces in the core would be too large and you would turn it into a star.
@@USNCBSLIXXX The largest known star is currently UY Scuti. 2.4B KM / 1,491,290,861 Miles in diameter. I hope that's interesting to you and makes you think "oh, cool".
You da man Splat, love the indie games, keep doing the good work
Such a great little game, I finished it after about 20 hours. Great value
Be nice to see you do more of these.
This game looks awesome splat!
God I remember when this was on Kongregate back in the day. THAT was the super old version of this game.
we old
I think I played it, but I really don't remember it.
What it did remind me of is an old game called Starscape; although there's a whole lot of differences.
@@MsHojat same, I mainly only remember Shellcore Command, but that's because the Dev disappeared off the face of the earth and no one has been able to find them.
I remember Kongregate. Weee
Haven't thought about that for years
This came from Starcom on flash? I just thought they shared a name cause the aesthetic is so different.
This looks great ^^
I have played this game through a couple of times and I really liked it. The galaxy building and the mystery behind what is going on is quite intriguing and that is what sets i apart from similar games like Istrolid etc.
If you really take your time to explore, how long is the game? Thanks in Advance
@@frankieb9444 Really depends. I have 81 hours played, but I did more then one run. I definitely did not feel like I wasted my money on the game though. Landinar: into the void is similar and has more gameplay options, Starcom Nexus has a much more integrated and intriguing story. Depends what you prefer from these types of games :)
@@Eener1000 Thanks for the quick reply, sounds like I gonna enjoy this one.
this game is cool. do more episodes!
Awesome game and I love this one so far, it is a top down game that incorporates modern graphics in a 2D.5 style and the graphics are very detailed and good. The game's focus is mystery, narrative structure and exploration, (planets, history, civilisations etc) with combat thrown in. You control the crew of a small ship thrown far from home through an anomaly at first but the ship and technology are upgradable
As i always say, gangsta splatter is the best splatter
Do you remember "Nexus the Jupiter incident"? getting some memories out of this.....
Stll has some of the best ship designs in all of science fiction.
Splatty coming out here like a space smurf for the imperium of man forgetting that the true love of violence BELONGS TO DA BOYZ WAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHH!
The spore snot boys might have invented love for violence, but the empire perfected it.
Man I love your videos. 😂😂
I literally started a playthrough yesterday :) Its a good exploration focused space sim.
Does your ship increase in size?
Yes, in the form of more modules. Its very simplistic, but an awesome game. 6-10 hours gamplay
@@niemand123 it's been a year since I played it. I'm not sure if things have changed since then, but I have 29hours on my steam account and I played through it twice.
You are a literary philistine... The name of the commander and ship are a reference to Jason and the Argonauts on their quest for the Golden Fleece.
I believe the default captain and vessel name is a Greek mythology reference, after Jason and the Argonauts
Please start this as a series SplatterCatGaming
Would love to see more please!
Please do more episodes of this pleeeaaassee splattycatty................
I like to see more of this.
This looks good. If you could do a few more episodes that'd be great.
Never change, splattercat
I would've used the Commander Jason name. But then again, my name is Jason so, yeah.
Clearly a reference to Jason & The Argonauts (with "The Argo" vessel name) but I guess not everyone is going to understand the reference ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This gameplay reminds me so much of Star Control 2 but only the good parts of Star Control 2.
One of my favorite guilty pleasure movies is Jason X, it's Jason in Space :D
I need more of this.
Have to say... Funny you did not figur out you dont need a Block to place a weapon on 🙈it comes with its own Block... But... Its a learning game 🤗
Man, I used to come here to check out games, now I do it for Splat's commentary more than the games. This dude is just hilarious.
lol he said "CLACK CLACK Homie Click CLack son Click CLACK son" roflll
Splatter cat Da warboss who threw hands with a star
This looks very cool
GratZ on 520!!👍
The Splatteroons demand a series!
A somewhat Farscape esq story line. Though the insect peoples in Farscape were aiming to help the main character in that, not ope fire on him.
@Ace Arch I like the expanse more, but I have rewatched the entirety of Farscape recently. I was worried it would not age well, but worries were averted, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it is deffinately one of the best ones.
Inquisitor, the Greeen Cat Marines have returned.
That "lander" on that one planet, looks remarkable similar to the Jupiter 1 from the new lost in space series....lol.
Hey @splattercat Do you like this or Starsector if you had to choose only one?
I've finished this and am about 20 hours into Starsector. This has a brilliant story, it's story based with great mechanics. Starsector is more a free form game with no story, also with great mechanics. Honestly, get them both :)
The starting commander and ship name was a reference to Jason and the Argonauts.
This, this land is my land and IM SURE youll find an intriguing 3rd game to jump into a full series on that will keep us entertained for a time to come
these vids showed me the key, which is power generation. without power 4 guns are just decoration. also range on the cannons is crucial. always destroy asteroids as you can find research points and lots of em.
The graphics for the rift remind me a little bit of the Nexus ribbon from Star Trek generations
25:00 great crusade sim
Really cool looking game!
The events in this one fit your playstyle a lot better than Starsector, and I'd like to see more of it.
ricko’s roughnecks hooyah!
Splat talking big about putting only guns on the ship and in the end he doesn't add a single one.
It's basically "Endless Sky" updated with a plot.
Jason is a mythical warrior from greek antiquity. The Argo is the ship he was sailing on.
More episodes of this and star sector please
Another gg
Jason and the Argo actually come from Greek mythology, that's why they put it there.
I guess this indirectly answers the question how B.A.Baracus would fare as a Federation officer.
Too bad there won't be more - this was fun.
HAH! Is that a reference to the Wow! signal (266/P Christensen) @10:33 xD?
2:22 There actually IS a point where you want to challenge some aliens to a drag race so to speak!
Also, I know this game is being devd by like one guy or something but I really think this game would benefit greatly from a full voice casting.
I played through the game and don't recall that at all.
@@MsHojat At one point you "jest" with your engineer that you are going to challenge the Chittik to an interstellar drag-race to determine peace. It's pretty much a throwaway line but it was entertaining.
7:50 It was on the right, very obviously.
How are there so many people that have such small tunnel vision they can't see a part that fills 1/5th of the screen...
The Actual plot to Star Trek: Voyager
Checking out the prequel for the ea game "Starcom Unknown Space" and was not disappointed. Also at 13:10, I expect nothing less with a ship "NCS DAKKA" lol.
Great 40k reference
Hmm, I think an appropriate name would be something like Blast Hardcheese, Roll Fizzlebeef or Big McLargehuge.
This is a war mission!!! Oh hello...can i scan you? UwU
I want to see a shipbuilding game that allows the player to design their own ship (total design from scratch, like in space engineers, but with better graphics) and place the components themselves, with a well-designed flight control mechanic (if your ship is built well) and supporting technologies - oh, wait, that game is already playable in alpha, it's called Dual Universe!
You can even walk around inside your ship, as well as leave it and walk around outside!
P.S. no hate for Starcom Nexus, it does what it does just fine, it just reminds me of what I really want to see in a shipbuilding game.
10:22 Lol, 1420 MHz
I chuckled a bit too quickly on that one...
science side of YT please explain
@@JaredRO 1420 MHz aka the 21 cm line, is a spectral line (light/photons with energy at that frequency/wavelength) of hydrogen given off when an electron flips its spin.
People noticed the line at 1420 MHz coming from the center of our galaxy and for a little while thought it was aliens making the signal...
Looks a lot like a game from a long time gone but hey still looks fun can we get more? Please
I mean, Jason would have been a fine name for a Commander, considering the ship is called the Argo.
Heya Splatter. The best and the worst thing about several games you are reviewing is, your voiceover. The best thing, you read the dialogues, which is great. The worse is, you have to read them for us. What a shame, those games don't come with voiceover.
So the opening is essentially "Farscape", it has my attention
Another one like these
More Please :P
Choking aliens and body slamming moons🤔🤣
Leave it to splattercat to not talk to a ancient alien AI...
I love these kind of games. It reminds me of a really old machintos space game with similar theme, like +20years ago if not more.
in order to be 40k there needs to be the option of shouting "WITNESS YOUR DOOOOOOOOM!!!"
You don't add guns to your current modules but ad in new gun modules. So you could of added more guns at the end.
i like it kinda reminds me of avorion give it a try some time if u havent
More please!
"Space brick" That is exactly what I made in this game. it wrecks shop.
Why are we not allowed to hear the games audio?
How about Jason Nesmith... Oh wait that was the actors name, it was commander Peter Quincy Taggart :)
Finished Space Pirates and Zombies (first one, since the second one kinda sucks) recently, for the second time, and desperately wanted more of the same. So I bought this game. Apart from the ugly ships, which is often the case with block building mechanics, it hasn't really disappointed. Really wish there were more weapon variety, but somehow it still works, since you can upgrade the plasma weapons quite a lot, changing how they actually work visually as well as statistics wise. I know you get beam weapons later too, but I almost have the Leviathan class unlocked now (biggest ship layout) and still only plasma and missiles.
Yay
Awesome game ganna stream?
I have never seen this "nerd castle" is it a real place?
