A ship-pet would be a huge selling point for me too, especially if it was useful in the greater game. The fire-spitter as a close range bonus turret, maybe a glow bug to illuminate dark areas, or a mushroom-dog that slowly regenerates your fuel. Pet housing could be a ship component, and the skill tree could add more pets to gain other quality of life improvements. @Splat, I *think* you're supposed to unassign crew from the guns to keep them from firing, but I agree that a toggle would be better. Also, it seems dumb that repair wouldn't already be automatic without buying it in the skill tree. After all who wouldn't bail water out of a sinking ship, or plug the hole that's sinking it in the first place?
I was sold when you said this was post apocalyptic and had airships, but then the narrator started talking… I haven't been this hyped for a game in a while.
For just a demo there's still enough to attract interest, it echoes to the "Sunless" genre but with a sweet and cute aesthetic. I hope you'll have the occasion to cover it again when it gets more content.
'Sunless' is not a genre, but a format and a setting of a particular franchise. it deliberately takes a Jules-Verne-styled steampunk, and builds up its own Dickensian universe in order to set up the mood and try and deliver an aesthetic in narration that feels authentic. if another game wants to take a post-apocalyptic atompunk retrofuturism and build upon such a theme, that doesn't mean it echoes to the "Fallout" genre, whatever that means.
Funny, but it could be a real issue here trying to get the age rating in some countries with this. Of course, we meant the sugar-sweet jelly mushroom. Yeah

Hey I really like your videos and you showing off all kinds of titles to get them the support they deserve. However, often your advice sounds more of "things should be this way" - while most of the examples you give are often mechanics that make games dull, uninspired and uncreative (solutions to be found in almost every similar game). That being said, obviously you are not intending to have games dumbed down, however on the array of games you reviewed you have had an serious impact due to the exposure you give those games. And by the end of my thought it stands clear to me that indie-games are there to not just use simple straight forward solutions to render their game a copy of all others in their nieche with nothing but a different skin/engine to run on.
