I'm a 76 yr new subscriber originating from central NYS & have devoured dozens of your videos in the past 3 days. In the 1980's & 90's we cut for 3 residential homes. We were fortunate to have a John Deere tractor, old manure spreader & pull behind splitter & cut dozen cords of hard wood. You'll know what i mean when i say we called it the poor man's health club. A point of interest, my son sells containers of hard wood over seas to China, Viet Nam & Malaysia among others & travels there 3 times a year. Of course, Covid threw a monkey wrench into his travel & income. Anyway, love your videos & look forward to each new one.

Good luck on the Japanese stilt grass control. It's a very invasive weed. I think it will eventually spread across the US. If you look close, it will be going to seed shortly and billions of more seeds will be on your land. I have it just about all over my 25 acres in Virginia. The biggest problem is it crowds out all other small plants from starting.
Mike, I have a question on how you operate the curl with the thumb. Kubota sets up the pressure on the thumb to be lower then the bucket curl in order to prevent bending parts and damaging. When you curl with the thumb extended, do you retract the thumb or let the bucket overcome the force of the thumb?

I only do it 2-3 times per year, usually about a month after it get's annoying to look at the piles. Don't know why I put it off as long as I do, but I love getting it done!

Hey Melissa, check out "hinge cutting".
It may answer your question regarding the green leaves on the downed trees.
It does not take much for a tree to keep it's leaves when they are broke.
When I hinge cut, I am cutting two thirds of the way through a tree and bending it to the ground.
As long as there is a bit of the trunk, with the cambium layer intact, there will be enough to feed the tree tops.

I've been rolling around on the ground for the past 30 years on my own, and the years before that in the Army just about every morning. Over 50 and still can touch the ground with the palms of my hands and having my legs locked. Never discount stretching in the morning, too many of my friends from high school cannot even touch their toes. 30 year graduation parties kinda show that. Plus, it gives you time to think about what needs to be done the rest of the day.
