In ‘76 I became of fan and said they were the best. I miss the early years but I’m thrilled new fans are being born and people get a chance to see a KISS show.
To tell the truth, Paul has struggles so much in the past couple of years, I actually enjoyed watching this with his "voice" at his best. He has given it all over the years so let's enjoy this.I would go to the show in a second even with the backing tracks. Like my Nanny used to say "If you you can't say something nice, shut the fuck up"
omg I don't care how many times I see a show live or online but when that damn black curtain drops it's pure magic and I can feel it in my soul!! thanks for sharing this!!!
Tom Iglesias Piñeiro Nah. Just haters of the lies and bullshit that Gene and Paul have spewed for years, lame setlists, broken promises and the lip sync is the final nail in the coffin.
If Paul trips over at any of these shows it's going to totally expose the backing track he's now so heavily relying on. His volume is not consistent with where he is in relation to the mic. Gene's really singing, sadly Paul's not.
There is a heavy backing track used in God Of Thunder. There has to be so it lines up with the pre-recorded visuals seen when no one can see Gene up in the air. It's funny because it's that song that is so obviously heavily augmented with a vocal sync track.
I couldn't care less if they lip sync or not because I'm not going to the show anyways, but this thread shows that people see what they want to see. There are people who seem desperate for it to be true for some reason. Nothing I see or hear in these videos convinces me they are faking it. If they were, why would they use such a shitty track to lip sync to? It seems to me they would use something much better.
Uh, because if they used a pristine, perfect track, everyone would know for certain it was a track---- given that everyone knows full well Paul has been unable to really sing for close to a decade now.
well don't forget too that KISS excel better than anyone at the old Shell Game, all the way back to Kiss Alive (that really wasn't: the only original live recordings on the album were drums and some vocal tracks. Audience sounds were compiled). Their showmanship and marketing took pages from Walt Disney and KFC and ran laughing all the way to the bank not my thing but I do commend their showmanship, marketing and promotion ~ of which they are some of the best at in the business
Sure I'm sure when Tommy checked the tour dates and saw Portland man I'm sure he was pumped to play before friends and his family a local kid from Portland with the hottest band in the land.
I was at the opening night show in Vancouver, on the floor row 14, and in AWE when they descended from the rafters. Watching this and the quality of your video takes it to another spectacular level. 😁 Thank you for posting this!
No matter what the haters think or say the years they have given us , it's awesome to see them still put on a great show ,it's not easy just going out on that stage now for the period of time they do and move around like that . These guys are not young anymore . Great job guys . I myself appreciate the shows you are giving us 👍.
Maybe this has been mentioned already, but listen to Detroit Rock City ...bring up a second screen for Vancouver, then a screen for this night in Portland. Listen to one line at a time from each. 1st line Portland, pause...play 1st line Vancouver pause, 2nd line etc....Paul's vocal delivery is EXACTLY the same. I've done this test on a few songs. Same result. He's lip syncing.
Yeah I heard the same. And his phrasing on Detroit Rock City always varied hugely in the past. Still, he's been doing this for a long time, gotta give him a break. There are young pop stars out there who've never sung live, so there's gotta be some leniency...
John i agree with you but why would Paul use such a bad lip sync from Vancouver. Why not use the lip sync 19 years ago when he could sing the highs in 2000.
At 600 to 2000 dollar tickets i damn well care about lip syncing. Id rather hear the worn out, late 60s, been playing for over 40 years voice at that price
I wasn't gonna go. But then a friend's girlfriend died and they had one extra ticket so I went just to be with my Detroit buddies from the 1970s. MAN, I am so glad I went! It was one of their best shows I've ever seen. Second only to the Tiger Stadium reunion tour.
I bought a $40 ticket for Portland and was sitting far away so I was spared having to see them lip sync...It was a spectacle for sure, but this video confirms all the rumors of backing tracks. I wonder if Paul is even playing guitar?
Search RUclips for Kiss - Detroit Rock City Night 1 and 2 mix 2019, it's the same track. Even the densest thickest mofo on the planet can see that Louie baby.
I was at this show, it was awesome. Loved the stage, pretty cool! I loved the show, did notice that Tommy nails Ace's licks, Not really a compliment. I like Tommy Thayer, I I remember him in Black and Blue in the 80's he really is a great guitaristt. His first mistake was being part of the first Kiss tribute band Cold Gin in the 90's. First one that I'm aware of, never heard of any before that. What started out as a temporary replacement, which makes sense wearing the spaceman persona for a show or two, but became permanent and now Tommy Thayer is permanently Ace's stand in, he's totally gonna be forgotten cuz he's not Ace. Even his guitar solo, was Ace's, there was nothing Tommy Thayer about it. Gene and Paul robbed this guys talent by making him a permanent stand in for Ace Frehley. I admit I would love to see the original band together for a last tour, if they're truly ending it, they should have done it that way, ego's aside, it's what the fans want. By fans I mean those that follow KIss and their career. I talked with people after the show that didn't who who was who in Kiss and I guess that's the way kiss wants it, they wouldn't know who was up on stage, but if Tommy and Eric had there own persona these fans wouldn't even know the difference, but give credit where credit is due. KIss an amazing group. I'm glad I got to see it, it was great, but it was apparent that they've become their own tribute band, you could replace both Paul and Gene as well and these fans wouldn't have known the difference.
4:07 he drops to his knees and pulls the mic away and the line finishes itself at full strength lol. Can any of the lip synch defenders please explain...
Well I'm happy to say the 6 times I saw KISS in concert between the years 77 to 86 were great....since then I've had no interest....but good for them to still be rocking!
Kiss should remove Paul's mic stand altogether. That might make the performance easier for him. Imagine the stress level his energy goes into faking on the right spots. Jesus.
At least Gene is really live. He kind of messed up the lyrics on the Vancouver show but he gets it right here. 1st verse of shout it out loud he sings "let's do it any other way" but here he sings "we can't do it any other way".
I agree and he is really over selling it too. Get rid of the mic. I am a little surprised he just did not go for a headset mic might be a little easier to sell. I feel if they would just say this is what it is, that I would be a little more open to it. As of now I won't see any shows. I have seen them at there best in 80's and 90's and current lineup. I don't feel I will miss anything.
Joe Kingsley I hate to say it but gene is also doing it. Check out the video of Vancouver the first night during War Machine at 3:41 he completely walks away from the mic as the next line comes out. Sad .
Great upload! I wish Ace and Peter were part of the show, but they look, sound and move great! The show is so much more than just singing ... they are truly awesome.
really doubt that he is lip synching here....looks totally live actually....as much as the haters would like to say otherwise...I have 40 years experience in live audio & stage production. IF it's lip synched at all its VERY WELL choreographed...too well for even these guys. BUT...let's wait for further down the road well into the tour when his voice starts to give out we'll likely see something different then...
Compare Paul's pitch, timing, and phrasing of the lyrics with the show in Vancouver and the vocals are identical. He's not live, but the vocals I am sure are recently recorded in a studio and edited into a complete vocal performance.
I was at that very concert that night. That was my first actual concert. The Beatles tribute concert I went to at the Fraze Pavilion back at home in Dayton, Ohio when I was 13 during the the summer of 2006 and the Tran Siberian Orchestra Christmas concert I went to at the Nutter Centre at Wright State University back when I was 18 in November of 2010 don’t really count. Kiss still had it too. Gene Simmons is gonna be retiring at the the end of the tour
I love the comments saying Paul is lip syncing this - it just goes to show that no matter what the haters are just going to hate. It's quite obvious that he is NOT lip syncing this, some of what you see and hear is a delay due to the camera recording this. I notice it does it once in awhile when they all strike the same chord and hold it that this camera is off just a touch. Paul does indeed lip sync a few other songs during the concert, that is much to obvious, but he is indeed singing here.
Sorry dude, but listen phrase for phrase to Detroit Rock City here and in other recordings of the tour, it is exactly the same. Just listen to 3.55, (Twelve o'clock... you gotta rock rock roooock). That bit sounds like he's improvising his phrasing, he adds some pauses and some repeated words etc. Then find the Whiskey A Go Go performance of the song and hear him do it EXACTLY the same. I listened to both performances phrase by phrase and it's 100% identical. He's never sung that song the same way twice, it's always done slightly different. Now he's not only doing it flawlessly, but with the exact same changes every time? Honestly, I don't care too much, his voice isn't up to it, and for a last time it's still a fun show. But he's faking it, no denying.
@@GeeVanderplas - I think I have stated enough times that I agree Paul is indeed utilizing backing tracks at different points. I just wish Paul would address the issue and just admit that for certain points and certain songs he HAS to use them. This tour is going on for 3 years and it has only just begun and already there is so much negativity surrounding it. Supposed KISS fans are just absolutely ripping them a new one over everything they do. I really think when it's all over and done with Gene and Paul will have a very negative feeling towards most of their fan base, I hope not, I hope they look past all the negativity and just focus on the good times. I have even read where some people compare Ace's voice to Paul 's and say that Ace took better care of his voice than Paul did - seriously? I am sorry but anyone who thinks that is a complete and utter moron! First of all, Ace doesn't strain his voice when he sings, in fact he barely sings lol. When Ace talks to the audience he does so in his usual voice whereas Paul uses his stage voice which is a higher pitch than his normal speaking voice. Paul does a lot of screaming and holding long notes and such whereas Ace, well he he just sort of gets close to the actual notes for the song lol. I had an opportunity a few years ago to see Ace live in a small venue in New York state and I turned it down. I like Ace and his music but his live performances, sing wise, are horrible.
Bernhard Jagielki I made it until the first farewell. I saw the last show the original guys did. South Carolina. Peter demolished his kit. Lots of people thought it was part of the show but Pete was pissed!! And he didn’t hide it. Of the 38 times I’ve seen them, the 10 reunion shows were best,
I admire bands true rock bands that care a lot about their fans by not lip-syncing and that are honest and truthful with her fans and one of the bands that truly does care a lot about their fans and is honest with them is Guns N Roses Disturbed is another band that cares Metallica Myles Kennedy and the conspirators and Slash you know besides kiss Bon Jovi is another one that lip syncs Def Leppard is another band that does not lip-sync either and was inducted into Rock Hall of Fame today's bands that we can trust that don't lip sync they are truly rock stars but for the bands that are dishonest shame on them we fans pay lots of money to go see them sing live and that's the way it should be
I thought they did a good job. The pressure is on for them not to slip up. I couldn't imagine having to deal with that since the syncing has been all over the net..
In all fairness, and yes! they are getting a hell of a lot of technical aid, look at this more of a celebration of their career and all the great songs..nobody is perfect..people in glass house shouldn't throw stones..
Terry Jones And fake lip stinkers shouldn’t say they’re in the shape of their lives and they’re going out on top and charge $1000 for a front row seat, prick.
Couldn’t agree more!! The morons on here tho don’t think you’re a die hard fan if you criticize them for the JOKE they’ve turned this once great thing into!! “You’re a hater...You’re not a real fan...etc.” I figure my 38 shows, years of service, thousands of dollars in merch., especially t-shirts, gives me the right to criticize all I want. And as a fan of 42 years, I will say in my opinion they should’ve stopped years ago. In my opinion they’ve stomped their own legacy to a jokingly pulp.
@@jennybh08 Hey, Jennifer, thanx for the vote of confidence!!! I ceartenly am not a hater... If anybody wants to go see them, by all means do... It's just that I won't... I REALLY appreciate that YOU get THAT!!!
Ugh...I'm leaving about 5 seconds of pre-roll, but just after the explosion listen for Paul's vocal, "STAND UP!". I thought I was hearing things but it's definitely there, just on tracks 0:30 (pre-roll), without lead-in 0:34
To all giving Paul a hard time- He's not lip syncing the entire show. Yes, he wants to come out on the first couple of songs and give a clean vocal. So what? I watched the entire concert from Jan. 31st, he does not fake the majority of the show. I dare you to scream these songs out for 45 years. Give the bad ass singing legend a break. He's not 21 anymore. He can only scream out so many songs a night. The argument for Gene doesn't hold up. Gene doesn't sound good anymore either and the vocal range of his songs are not nearly what Pauls are. I can't wait for the Memphis show. Hey PAUL, Thanks for the memories!!!!!
Plenty of bands that have been doing it for as long do not resort to backing tracks, see Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath/Ozzy/Dio, etc... Kiss didn't age well and they're out for your money when they could have retired gracefuly post Sonic Boom.
Seeing KISS in Vegas which is tonight. I'm ignoring all the haters. I'm going to go have a good time. Haters going to hate. Isn't going to stop the show!!
Geddy Lee was singing just as long and at a much higher pitch then paul and yet he NEVER lipped synced live so he could come out with a 'clean vocal'....gimme a break dude
Look at 4:29, Paul is saying “Everybody’s gonna lose their seat” It appears he’s lip syncing. His mouth doesn’t match what comes out over the speakers. Busted??!!
Now that we know the vocals of the first two shows are identical, it’s become fact. If they have to lip-synch, then they have to lip-synch. Fine...it happens. The apologists just need to stop denying at this point that it’s taking place. Did they really think they were going to fool people for two shows let alone an entire tour? Not with RUclips in the equation.

The saddest thing I have seen for a long, long time. I'm glad many of my favourites never lost respect like this.
Gene and Paul look and Sound older than the rolling Stones 😁No..this is not "my"Kiss. The Reunion Tour 96 was the real end of the road
Bernhard Jagielki I made it until the first farewell. I saw the last show the original guys did. South Carolina. Peter demolished his kit. Lots of people thought it was part of the show but Pete was pissed!! And he didn’t hide it. Of the 38 times I’ve seen them, the 10 reunion shows were best,
Ano muito😍😍😍😍😍 I really love this band
Wow very Nice i like this band👍
At 7:07 when he sings ”turn it up louder” that to me sounds live but everything els (Paul vocals) must be tracks
Sync It Out Loud!
@@kisshooters69 When is the last time Kiss did anything original?
@@YouDummy Fitting name for you
They told me 'Octavius Rex666 is a big fag' was taken.
I love Paul's boots in this video.
Legends ❤❤❤
I'm was there!!!!
Hello2 a ce fre. Kis
The best musisian
The backing track...omg. Paul does not sound like this anymore.
Paul prancing and kicking. Fucking LOL !!!
This is so depressing. And I don't mean because it's their final tour.
The ugly ass face you are using for your profile is much more depressing. The concert was great... your face... not so much... not at all
I saw them in Spokane in February. It doesn't matter if they're lip-syncing, they still rock hard af and make it a lot of fun
Kissi Vanilli
LMAO but unfortunately for us the record won't skip :( damn digital audio blowing it for us!!!
Regardless if he's "lip syncing" or not its amazing to watch i love it
You must have as much money as these guys to be able to travel and be front row for all the shows. Nice shots.
i have never seen them iam 57 two me it was great i loved it load
1:01 lol.
Great video quality. I'll be going to my first of 5 shows this week in Columbus, OH. What did you use to shoot the video?
Gene wears a wig too
Much more entertaining than the SuperBowl !
I’ll admit I was expecting worse....so tbh this sounds pretty good to me. I wasn’t expecting his voice to get that high so...
It didn't!
Higher than what I thought it was gonna be
He’s lip syncing!!!
Stanley is best singer in The world
Remember seeing this in 1996 and thinking it was pathetic? It's now a classic.
Nice video....is that the new iPhone XR? Looks and sounds great either way;
can't wait for Philly and DC!
Great video! I see camera men in the pit in front of you, but did you see any photographers at this show?
Thayer just looks ridiculous in Ace's outfit.
Damn!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
As a diehard fan, all I could say is, THANK GOD they're done... Sorry...
Don't be sorry! They should have hung it up last time
Unfortunately they will still continue, my guess is a Vegas residence
My guest is that they might continue with no original members
Couldn’t agree more!! The morons on here tho don’t think you’re a die hard fan if you criticize them for the JOKE they’ve turned this once great thing into!! “You’re a hater...You’re not a real fan...etc.” I figure my 38 shows, years of service, thousands of dollars in merch., especially t-shirts, gives me the right to criticize all I want. And as a fan of 42 years, I will say in my opinion they should’ve stopped years ago. In my opinion they’ve stomped their own legacy to a jokingly pulp.
@@jennybh08
Hey, Jennifer, thanx for the vote of confidence!!!
I thought I was hearing things but it's definitely there, just on tracks 0:30 (pre-roll), without lead-in 0:34
What I think about the lip sync situation is is he is actually singing but there is an older pre recorded backing track that he is sing with
To all giving Paul a hard time- He's not lip syncing the entire show.
Actually most every band playing large stadiums today has some tracking in their shows. KISS didn't invent it.
Keep convincing yourself that you weren't ripped off bud.
Geddy Lee was singing just as long and at a much higher pitch then paul and yet he NEVER lipped synced live so he could come out with a 'clean vocal'....gimme a break dude
Hey I’m a Kiss fan I know Paul losing voice and all but the stage set looks cool too expensive for tickets I’ll catch RUclips shows 😂😂
Funny. when I sing into a mic and move my mouth away from it, my voice fades away, but not Paul. Strange
Depends on the mike.
Where?
Hahaha
Cosgrove Pennybaker yea. But there’s no way he’s using a condensor for vocals on stage in a packed arena dude
Ever heard a little trick called reverb? Most singers use it to expand the sound, pal.
Based on the comments it may have been the KISS-OFF tribute band that performed.
Hometown guy Tommy Thayer playing with Kiss awesome!!.
ill see you guys tonight at the honda center woooooooooooo
Look at 4:29, Paul is saying “Everybody’s gonna lose their seat” It appears he’s lip syncing. His mouth doesn’t match what comes out over the speakers. Busted??!!
Nice of them to take their Vegas spectacle on the road for their fans.
Awesome!! They are going out on Top!!
Hardcore 🔥
Now that we know the vocals of the first two shows are identical, it’s become fact. If they have to lip-synch, then they have to lip-synch. Fine...it happens. The apologists just need to stop denying at this point that it’s taking place. Did they really think they were going to fool people for two shows let alone an entire tour? Not with RUclips in the equation.
