Ammonia is nitrogen to green up the grass, shampoo is used as a surfactant to cause everything in the bottle to cling to the grass, cola is sugar to feed grass, tea (don't remember), add a can of beer to digest the old grass in the lawn. Credit for ths tonic goes back to Jerry Baker, master gardner. This tonic was introduced to the lawncare world by Mr. Baker many years ago and I have been the envy of my neighbors for almost 20 years because of it.

You can do it once a week if you’d like. Then reduce to every couple weeks and then every month as your grass becomes nicer and nicer.
Thatch your lawn that would get the dead brown grass. I recommend outdoor space to mix, and PPE using liquids, but nice presentation

Thanks for the video. The function of the ammonia is not to clean the grass.. It provides lawns with nitrogen, indirectly ... Ammonium nitrate production utilizes ammonia to produce nitric acid..etc. I've used this treatment once with beer and it worked well. I think the yeast in the beer helps the microbes (unsure).
Yes, I’ve made some other videos that use beer as well. I agree that it is the yeast that helps.

Obviously there are different formulas that work. I use 1 cup: Household ammonia, mouthwash, Dawn; 1 can of beer and 1 can non-diet soda. Mix well and add to hose-end sprayer set at ~1 oz. Many cut lawn to short, very bad during hot weather. Also proper amount (~1") and frequency (2-3/wk) of watering. Use a rain cup to determine length of time to water. Many stop and ask what I use and I freely give my formula. It works too. Thanks for the video.
Yes, there are several formulas. The key is to apply them consistently so that your grass is always getting the nutrients it needs to look the best it can!

I’d follow the instructions in the video and then use 1/4 of the solution in your sprayer. Save the rest for future applications.
Spray it on once a week for a month, then every other week for a month. Then once a month for two months and you should see some excellent results!
Sprenkle yard/lawn with coffee grounds once a year. Turns dirt green.

It depends on how much you wish to apply to your lawn. A typical application ratio for this mixture is 2 ounces of solution per 1 gallon of water.
Therefore, mix up the solution to see how much liquid you have. Then divide that number by 2 to find out how many gallons you need to mix it with.
If you have 16 oz of solution. You would need 8 gallons of water.
Can you pre-make it a d stored it?
You can. However, I suspect that the composition would change. Cola would get flat, the ingredients would settle and separate, et cetera.
What setting do you use on the sprayer?
Up to you. Usually anywhere from 1-3 ounces.
Do you water grass right a way or wait a couple of days
I spray the solution on right away. Then wait a couple days before adding any additional water to the grass. You want it to really soak up the solution. Therefore, it's best not to water your grass for a few days before you apply the solution as well.
I have pine ammonia and it’s pink. Will it work?
Should t be an issue as long as there are not a lot of extra ingredients.

You can try it with a black tea bag, however, hot tea is different than instant tea so you may want to brew it first and make it extra strong.

Can you use a tea made up of tea bags/leaves with water instead of the instant tea if the instant tea is not available or on hand at home.
I’ve tried it and it seems to work pretty well. I do notice that the grass doesn’t get as nice as with the instant tea but it still looks great!

Fantastic video. I've done this twice now using your methods. Only changes I made was in the uk it's hard to get ammonia so I used urine after 24hrs turned to ammonia. And molasses instead of coke.
1 question can I use washing liquid instead of baby shampoo as its cheaper here to use that than shampoo? Many thanks

Yes, I have heard of that before. It provides some good acid for the soil. Wood ash is also great!

Do it in the morning when you’ve got some dry days ahead. At least 48 hours before any rainfall.
Are you adding anything else to this lawn besides this treatment? If you’re adding additional fertilizer it would be hard to tell if this treatment works alone without other treatment.
You can do whatever you like. However, this treatment is all I need.

If I wanted to just use ammonia and corn syrup for my fertilizer, how much would I use in a 10 gallon or 20 gallon sprayer? In other words, how much ammonia per gallon to inhibit burn? I want to fill a pull type sprayer for my large yard.
Why only ammonia and corn syrup?
I think if you put a cup of each in a 20 gallon sprayer that mixed with water on a 4 gallons water to 1 gallon mixture ratio that would work.

The JERRY BAKER SYSTEM.. We did that a few yrs.. Then switched to using : Spring: ( May) Weed & Feed & Crab Grass Pre-emergent and June: Milnorginite July: Salt 13lb per 1k Sq Ft... all before it rains or before Watering with our In teh Ground System - putting down 1/2" a week.. Use Fungus Controll and Grub Preventure or Killer for brown spots.. with Rake with hand Held Spade rake and Mix 50/50 Bag of Potting soil and Grass Seed.. water EOD for a week .. And we Landscaped 50% of our Lawn and alot less Mowing time and cut cost by 50%.. Have Crab Apple and 2 Hydrange -Pee Gee Trees for shading our Lawn.. ! Keep the faith!

I usually run a 3 or 4 ounce setting. For the first application. Then a 2oz setting for follow-ups.

Yes, set your sprayer to spray 2 ounces of the solution for every gallon of water that passes through it.
In some cases I’ve sprayed 4:1 when the grass needed a little extra help.

I wouldn’t put baking soda in there.
You can try the mixture without the ammonia. It should still help. Also, check out some of the other grass growing videos on this channel. There are formulas without ammonia.

Apply once a month for 3 months, then once or twice each summer. If you want to continue with monthly applications it won’t hurt.

I usually have it on 2 to 1 but it depends on the condition of your grass. You may want to apply more formula per water if the grass is in tougher shape. One time I applied it at 8 to 1 and had to refill my sprayer about every 10 minutes!

Yes, as long as the roots of the grass are not dead.

Yes, it works.
You should do it when your blades of grass are dry, not moist with dew. Therefore, apply it in the mid-morning. If you do it in the heat of the day then evaporation will be an enemy.
I'd definitely do it in the morning otherwise your lawn will be up all night.

Used this on my lawn yesterday, and this morning, the color turned to a bluish brown. WTH happened? It's been super hot and dry here, which is why my grass is brown. I have a sprinkler system but it doesn't have good coverage right now, which is why I have brown areas and thus why I use this concoction on it.
It’s possible it is dry and brown from the heat and lack of water. Otherwise, if you sprayed it on during the heat of the day the sun could have hit the water droplets on the blades of grass and burned your grass.
You’ll probably have to water a couple of times a week during this dry spell. That way, when the new growth happens you’ll be able to keep it green and healthy before the sun scorches it.
