    I want you to give reaal considerations before giving up and selling i speak as a voice of experience i started out on the same path as you got side tracked by chasing the almighty dollar years passed plans changed and now I'm 80 still in good shape but past following that dream don't give up find a way do not live a life of quit desperation. Life comes but once size it and live it.

      Agree with you, Dave... I’m on my third world cruiser, the first two fell victim to career trap and then a cruise cut short by a hurricane. Now, I’m retired, got a good bit of cruising experience and a great boat, but at 75 I’ve got only a few precious years to sail into the sunset. So, as you so eloquently wrote: Go Now, while your young!👍

    I would add a few other issues… but I have no desire to upset any locals.
    I love Greece, and while I would love to sail in my own (future) boat round the islands… I think local ferries and hotels are a better bet.
    Brexit was kind of the negative cherry on the cake. I aim to get a boat within two years and leave for good. And it’s not even that there are issues with the Med… it’s that there are other places I would prefer to be.
    I’d rather use my Schengen days to do to: The Azores, for example, it is a place of mystery I have always wanted to go to. After that the Cannaries for lots of good food and some diving. Then Cape Verde is somewhere i have always wanted to go to… and can explore and wait for a good window to cross the atlantic.
    I guess like many my aim is the South Pacific… if i went on round the world from there then so be it… equally if I spent the rest of my life in Australia or New Zealand from November to May and May to November in the South Pacific islands I would be a happy man.
    Having said that… would love to come into the Med via the Suez canal… looks like that route is opening up again as the pirate risk is looking pretty much non existent.
    But yeah it’s funny when you meet people who have never sailed there who think the Med is like sailing on a lake.
    Hope you carry on. Love the channel and would love to meet up in some remote (and quiet LOL) anchorage someday.
    :)

    I flew back to the UK on many occasions for 2-3 months work. Marinas kill budgets. I shall be checking out the cook book Ms Grey, good idea!

    Love the cookbook Jade. I’m both plant based & gluten free but can make some simple switches to make the recipes work for me (gram flour or GF flour/pasta). Looking forward to trying some of the recipes before next season’s sailing trips ❤

    Things weather wise in the Med can change so fast it's uncredible. you almost have to keep a constant eye on the Horizon and the Barometer. I think it's available for Android Devices as well, but there's a really good Barometer App Called Barograph which is a copy of a paper Barometer recording done Graphically, so you can set the recording time to a few minutes, and the track of Readings gives you a clear view of what is happening. It's not expensive to buy the Pro version either, from memory, under a fiver. I used the free version with ads on my iPad for a day, and was so impressed I paid for it. Once bought for an ipad, turns out the iPhone on the Same account gets to use it as well. and even the small iPhone Mini 13 runs it fine. and it's as accurate as a proper Scientific Mechanical Barometer, costing over a thousand pounds. Barographs a Lot more than that. Phone means really usable in the Cockpit too. just don't drop the phone over the side. Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Bob. 👍🙂

      What is the name of that app? I can’t seem to find “barograph” in the iOS App Store. The app sounds interesting.

    • @brownnoise357
      @brownnoise357 Год назад +1

      @@Cat-ni6fm I had a similar Problem fi ding it to install on my iPhone. I think I had to search for Barometer, then it showed up as Garograph in the list of Barometer apps. BRB, I'll just check on my iPad. . . . . Couldn't find it either. Searched Barometer and it's listed as Barograph: Barometer & Altimeter

      @@Cat-ni6fm PS to my reply below, to get rid of the ads, to buy, it looks to be 1.99 dollars, or 1.99 pounds in the UK I think. a real Bargain. 👍

      Thanks for this Bob! Great idea about the app, have installed for next season 😁
