    The Dragonfly 28 sets new standards for the possibilities of a sailing boat. The perfect boat does not exist - but the Dragonfly 28 is very close to this ideal. New facelift design for all Dragonfly 28 models. The Dragonfly 28 comes in both a Touring and Sport version, and, introducing 2016 the new Dragonfly 28 Performance version.
    Great fun and easy handling - accommodating 5 people. The Dragonfly 28 is for the modern sailor, who requires multiple possibilities from his vessel. This boat is all about possibilities, fun - and above all, excellent sailing abilities. The Dragonfly 28 comes in three versions - the Touring version represents the trailable family cruiser, whereas the Sport version is the trailable In- and Offshore Racer. The new 2016 Performance version with new wavepiercing float design calls for the ultimate performance.

    It's either a very good marketing clip, that catches the audience from the first second, or its just a very very honest great review, where you can feel the passion on the side of the boat builder and the test sailor..
    Loved the video and love the boat.

      Thank you very much, this was not a marketing trick, the enthusiasm was real. First time on a trimaran for test sailor Jens Lindemann and me (behind the camera). And the day could not have been any better, 20 + knots, sunshine and flat water...

    I love the under 30’ folding trimarans (with a head), and this DF28 is on my “unaffordable” wishlist. Perhaps one day.

    Loved the boat, an honest appraisal, performance is off the scale. Pricey but then again you don't get an oven in a Ferarri

    Danke für das sehr informative Video und die schönen Segelbilder. Ich konnte das Boot bei der Hanseboot 2017 sowie das Dragonfly 32 in Augenschein nehmen und es gefällt mir sehr gut. Der Preis ist erheblich aber die Leistung und Verarbeitung überzeugen. Ich möchte auch mal so mit 20 Knoten segeln. LG

    The Dragon Fly 28 seems to be the perfect boat...We just purchased a 2020 Corsair 880 Sport, not sure how it compares to the Dragon Fly but it fits all of our needs.....

      @nauticfilms  3 года назад +4

      @sc1212able Congratulations to your new Corsair 880. I guess it also a lot of fun. I guess it is quite a bit more affordable than the Dragonfly, and on the other hand you don't get that extra premium Scandinavian build quality?

    • @yanassi
      @yanassi 7 месяцев назад

      I’d love to see a comparison between the DF28 & corsair 880. Both very intriguing. Was “Scandinavian build quality” a pun? or is there more to the remark and could you explain to this novice.

    Is this boat ok for cruising? Or what would be the smallest size for a trimaran that has folding hulls for cruising / ocean crossing?

      look her:
      ruclips.net/video/PjNiPmvKOW8/видео.html
      It is a '35 Dragonfly on its way to the canary islands in good wind and waves with maximum reefs and 7.5 knots speed. Skipper states he did it this slow for the benefit of the expensive sails (!?) Whatever, hull form or sails, boat does seem fit for u s i n g - i t - a t - l o w - s p e e d in blue water if you do everything very carefully. Very Understandable. If you are forced to drive a Lotus on a bumpy road you would not speed either. This is a Lotus.
      I had chartered a Tri (neel 45) in the mediterranean sea this summer which is a complete different concept. I do fall for the technical chichi of the dragonfly and the trailerability but I must admit that at beaufort 6 on the large neel 45 I was extremely happy that 13 knots of speed at 50° with jib and main (2 reefs) or 120° with Jib alone did not come at the price of an undercutting ama or even water washing on the bridge. 2 different boats, 2 different concepts, 2 different prices. But if you look at 7:00 in this video you can clearly see that the dragonfly buries the lee ama (it raises its stern out of the water to the rudderblade beeing 50% exposed). This was with Mr. Quorning who does not do anything else than Tri constructing, building and sailing at the helm. But is a very dangerous situation even on flat water. If this happens when going down a wave the boat shall be out of control some seconds later, I presume...

      @@maddocmucmaddocmuc5341 at 7:00 Jens Quorning is playing the spinnaker; he eases it a little. The trimaran-novice tester is at the helm.

    Anyone out there have actual videos of these same trimarans sailing in sea-state 5 and up?
    They always show videos of these boats in flat water.

    What happens if you sail it into the back of a wave, with the leward hull already overpressed...all the overpowered shots were in flat calm water...I live in the channel Islands, and when there is 20 knts of wind , there is also some sea running,sometimes wind over tide conditions that throw up steep waves ???

    • @CockatooDude
      @CockatooDude 8 лет назад

      +Nigel Loller I'm pretty sure it could handle it, the beams that hold the outriggers are really thick.

    Wenn Monohull dann nur Pogo. Zwar nicht ganz so schnell, dafür günstiger und mehr Platz. Ein Vergleichstest zwischen Pogo 850 oder 30 und Dragonfly 28 wäre geil.

      Bottom line is you should not flip it. As yard owner Jens Quorning explains in this video, it typically happens when people lose their heads while racing.

    7:00 von wegen nicht beeinflusst!
    Dein Heck hat es soweit aus dem Wasser gehoben dass das Ruderblatt zur Haelfte draussen war! Da würde man sich doch dynamischen Auftrieb vorne an den Amas wünschen...

    how many people does it take to sail it?

    • @nauticfilms
      @nauticfilms  4 года назад +2

      Bluejay Woman : can definitely be sailed with two people. You may want a third person to fly the Asymetric, depending on your skill level. The snuffer makes it fairly easy, however.

    • @stefanseyfried8201
      @stefanseyfried8201 4 года назад +7

      I regularly sail her single handed, even with the asymmetric. It’s part of the appeal, being able to do that and helps you get out more often, rather than needing crew.
