Omg I grow figs in my backyard but I literally will eat it while I’m picking them before it even makes it into the house LOOOOL! Buuut adding fig and honey to a yogurt is a game changer
I grew up with fig trees in the backyard. My mom would preserve them. And we’d go to the tree for a snack while playing outside. Oh, how I miss those trees!
@@Simplyquinoa Bought mission figs at Trader Joe's; long sheet and a small box of organic figs as well, for this recipe. Thx for speaking slower on RUclips than you do on Pinterest !! 😁
I made the fig cake yesterday (substituted quinoa flour for normal flour and used vegan butter instead of oil) and it turned out really nice! It wasn’t too sweet but the figs had this caramelized thing to it. Ate it with some coconut yoghurt, real delish!
Can I use regular white flour instead of the blend of flours you use? My friend has a fig tree and every season, she gives me a whole batch. Excited to try 😋
I have fig trees, but I don't eat them fresh as they are just too sweet for me, so I make a spicy fig & onion chutney & serve with our Charcuterie & Fromages platters Yummmm. Bon appetit !

Figs, halve, drizzle with a little honey and pop under the grill til bubbly. The natural sugars of the fig combine with the honey and it drool worth, serve with a feta salad O M Gee... I'll try yr cake recipe as soon as figs are available here again
My problem is that I can't save any figs for recipe testing 😂😂 I literally wolf them down fresh until I get a tummy ache, they're my favourite fruit and they're in abundance right now, it's a shame there's season is short..

@@Simplyquinoa omg, made this cake - Perfect. Just a touch of sweet, not overly sugary. And yes, I ate it for dinner dessert and with morning coffee. 😊
That's about the same logic as saying fruit isn't vegan because it requires the bee industry to polinate them. Wasps dying to make figs is a part of their natural lifecycle so it is still vegan. At the end of the day it depends on your definition of vegan. Is vegan not using products directly produced by animals and insects? (In this case figs and fruit are vegan but wool, milk, honey, pearls etc are not. This is the vegan definition most vegans use.) Is vegan not supporting industries that cause direct harm to animals and insects? (In this case figs are vegan but wool, milk and eggs isn't vegan due to its link with the meat industry and the existence of factory farms. By this logic for veganism, arguably absolutely anything *could* be vegan if sourced correctly, for example if you owned your own chickens and didn't slaughter any, the eggs they produced would be "vegan", natural deaths of old chooks would make vegan meat etc.) Is vegan not using anything which involves death/harm of animals and insects in any way, even indirect or natural? (In this case figs and any other pollinated fruits as well as many vegetables which may use animal manure from farms as fertilizers are not vegan. Which essentially means you have to buy from a farmers market and research every single farm you buy from or grow your own food yourself. You wouldn't be able to use any form of fossil fuel either, both because its a fossil fuel, but also because it contributes to climate change, a leading cause of extinction. Basically any product from any store is not vegan under this definition, because the land used to make it would take away from habitat for animals and there would be fossil fuels used for it's transport. This type of veganism is virtually impossible to follow.) Essentially what I'm getting at is that figs are definitely vegan for your definition, seeing as you own a laptop/phone.

I have never tried to eat figs this way! Thanks for great ideas! I want to make this cake!
I'm not a big fan of figs but that fig cake might just be the one to change my mind!
You could also use apples or peaches if you wanted!
Love the simple fig oatmeal. I'm inspired by this video to add figs to oatmeal breakfast bars!
Can’t stop looking at your ring 😍 it’s so pretty haha! But also love the recipes
Awww thank you!!! Me either 😉
Decided that I want to try make some recipes with figs this season, so your video came in right time! 👌🏻 Will try the cake! 😍

It's the 365 brand from Whole Foods!
Looks absolutely delicious!😋❤️

I think like the aesthetic of figs more than their actual taste lol, but i love these recipes😍id love to try
The cake looks yummy. Can I replace the quinoa flour with another flour?
Nice
Can I use normal flour instead of the almond flour would that be okay?
Do you have to refrigerate the cake leftovers or can it remain out if put in a container?
Wow that is a rich bteakfast😮
Great recipes..
Can we substitute the quinoa flour if we don't have?
Do you refrigerate figs?

Both are wonderful but ..can I use flax eggs .? Never eat eggs you see ..Dangerously delicious 👍
I suggested aquafaba - i think that would work better :)

I wonder if this recipe would work with flax "eggs" and agave nectar?
Also quite frankly I think the cake qualifies as close enough to a coffee cake, so I'm making that for breakfast also! 😅
Woohoo!!

The problem with figs is they never seem to make it to recipes for me. We eat them too fast 😂
Haha i know! that's usually me too :)

Technically figs require a wasp to die in order to be “made” , so are they vegan?
I'm not sure, but she used eggs and honey for the cake, so it is definitely not vegan.
Most commercial fig tree are now self pollinating! There are some that still require wasps though

Mel I don’t agree with the vegan eggs part but yes, I do see what you are saying. Thank you for explaining
I’m a huge fan of fresh figs, but fig newtons not so much. LOL
All I could think of is when you were testing the recipes and the figs fell out (I forgot why though) lol.
hahahaha I'm so glad you remembered that! I was so disappointed, but at least the cake part was still good 🤣
