Well written - love the boy's voice and also wished him safe at home. I'm from Canada and who knows what my country is doing ...? I am guessing this boy has no more contol on world policy than have I ... Much enjoyed your so rational comment ... Mary Redmond
This is the second video of yours I have listened to....... You have a ardent fan,Sir......Such a beautiful voice and gentle timber. regardless of the words your delivery is without exception and without peer. Such a magnificent talent you have....and I love the sweet Irish accent. I hear much emotion in this one. How very Blessed you are.....m.
bravo !! super !!! excellent !! very sensitive way , love it, your voice is just the one for this song, and your guitar cries same the squadrons wife stay home thank you very much to share this beautifull moment with us
By far the best rendering of this I've heard. And I've been listening to a lot of different versions on youtube for the past several hours. The runnerup to my thining might be Athenrye, but you are way ahead of whoever is in second place. Done simply, with a single instrument, with the lyrics enunciated clearly. The perfect way to do this song. If you aren't already familiar with his work you might enjoy the late Stan Rogers' songs. You remind me a bit of him somehow.
I literally love listening to your videos on here especially this one!! Hearing you sing is so calming and has been since I was little and you would sing to me!! I love you Chris!! (To anyone else who reads this I'm his little sister)
I like the Foggy Dew and you version is very well done. I don't have any Irish blood, but the song is very emotional and I feel slightly Irish listening to it.
Old comment, I know, but the lyrics version I was reading said "sons." I've heard the "huns" version, too, which I think makes more sense historically. When I sing it now, I say huns.
man your voice is really good... i hope your home safe... its making me cry that you can sing a song like that with so much beauty and be one of americas sons with the long range guns... a depressing irony that you were fighting "those fearless men, but few, Who bore the fight that freedom's light might shine through the foggy dew"... crying...
I'm crying right now I have both Irish and British blood in me and when I hear this I hear them whisper in my ear the triumphs and I feel like I was there at the Easter rising I may not have known them but I feel connected to Ireland and the people
You've got to be kidding. Give the guy a break. Good job lambicpen. And from one veteran to another keep your head up and know that we all love you guys. Be safe.
You have a very good voice for this song in particular. The exact right amount of seething determination mixed with a soothing bass. Also, you bypassed the syllable problem in verse 3 remarkably. Good job, five stars.
Nice to see someone singing all the verses, thanks. In the original, the verse about wild geese comes third - it makes more sense that way. Best of luck to you ~
Dude! You got Irish written all over your forehead! That song is the best I have heard yet. I am trying to mimic your style...far from being as good as you, though. My voice is a bit lower, so I have to improvise. I read the lyrics and cried as I was trying to sing it, so hopefully I can get the emotion right! God Bless!
yeah, you're right; I think the version I was basing it off of said "sons," but "huns" is certainly more appropriate when one considers the time period and all that
U r amazing mate...so good...but i've found the lyr without some pieces u sing -.- i search all the singers wich sang this song...but no all the lyr available...can u send me it in a message?? and if u can the Crds too tnx a lot U are so good nice voice like a Bard :D
I don't think it was sung too sad or slow, it's a sombre song and sounds really well like that. My favourite version is (oddly since I'm a big dubliners/tones fan) sinead o'connor's with the chieftans. She sings it with similar sobriety, but more emotional power.
BTW, if you're taking requests, I think that your voice would go very nicely with "Westlin Winds". Dick Gaughan and Garnet Rogers have both recorded very fine versions of it that shouldn't be hard to find. Also, do you know "The West's Awake"? -jcr
Nicely done. Only suggestion is that you be a little more free with the timing. Try reading the lyric as if you were narrating a story, and see how the words feel that way. Fine voice, by the way. -jcr

Thanks to all for the comments. Hard to believe how long it's been since I recorded this. I need to make a list of future songs.

My friend, that is one moving performance. Just awesome. Thank you for posting.
Oh, how wonderful. I could listen to your voice all day and look at that handsome face, too. Thank you for making this video.

Beautifully sang!
Beautiful song!
This is one of the best renditions I have heard.. Truly beautiful
I wish I could get ur version on iTunes. beautiful rendition, by far my favorite.
I like the Foggy Dew and you version is very well done. I don't have any Irish blood, but the song is very emotional and I feel slightly Irish listening to it.
This made me shiver! You sang/played it awesome. Thanks for sharing.
finally an Irish singer on you tube. i love your voice
perfectly done! This way I love it. Great song and even better performed!
Nice to hear someone singing this and it doesn't sound like they are screaming! Nice version.
I would really like to visit Derry and Belfast and the rest of the north someday. My Irish experience is still limited to the Shannon airport...
It is a sad world where raw, unprocessed, heartfelt, beautiful music lives in the deep shadow of crap forced upon us.
Simply gorgeous.
I love this song. Perfida Albione semper.
Greetings from Italy.
Brilliant!
Great song, great voice.
In some parts of the song you sounded like a male version of Sinead O'Connor.
Beautiful!
Old comment, I know, but the lyrics version I was reading said "sons." I've heard the "huns" version, too, which I think makes more sense historically. When I sing it now, I say huns.
Remembering Ireland and yourself with this song on this Easter night. Hope all is well with you, young man. Erin go bragh.

McAlpine's fuseliers and this are my party pieces in the pub!
I'm crying right now I have both Irish and British blood in me and when I hear this I hear them whisper in my ear the triumphs and I feel like I was there at the Easter rising I may not have known them but I feel connected to Ireland and the people
Nicely done cover :) and great voice ! ,greets
Once again great attempt! I like the fast version but have to say sung with heart! well done

hmmm pretty good man!!
like the wee upward trill you do with your voice a lot during this song...on certain words.
cool man

Good job, five stars.
Hi, just curious, what is the syllable problem posed in verse 3? Sorry for grave digging haha
Very good. You sing wonderfully. And your guitar skills aren't lacking, either!
Nice. Don't be nervous of posting more. :)
Excellent mate.
Nice to see someone singing all the verses, thanks. In the original, the verse about wild geese comes third - it makes more sense that way. Best of luck to you ~

It's just as well. They won't let me quit my day job until I complete my enlistment... :)
Well done!
really great
That was amazing!
You are good dude, keep up the good work
yeah, you're right; I think the version I was basing it off of said "sons," but "huns" is certainly more appropriate when one considers the time period and all that
Good on ya lad!!
Thanks for the suggestion!
hey , I know this song from Alan Stivel.
You sing it really awesome
very good lad

Good job ;)
I have added the lyrics and chords I used to the video info.

vary well done, why are you recording on youtube and not singing pro?
Fucking pefect, fucking perfect! God, I love it.
BTW, if you're taking requests, I think that your voice would go very nicely with "Westlin Winds". Dick Gaughan and Garnet Rogers have both recorded very fine versions of it that shouldn't be hard to find.

nice
my opinion exactly
Free Ireland!
why does this young man not have his own contract?
Do you mind if I convert your videos into mp3 for my ipod? You do a wonderful job! :)
Thanks. That would be fine. When I become a world famous singer, I'll have to re-record them anyway.
Christopher Kinyon Thanks. Oh, haha, that is true :)
ireland
Fucking amazing mate, hair standing up on the back of me neck. What chords did you use for that?
Lets go conor!
lol but you should begin recored outher songs if this one was any hint you are very good
Lateralus.
Very nice lament version, though I agree that British Huns are more appropriate lyrics...
It's Britania's Huns not Britania's sons.
@644783399 McAlpine's Fusilier's is a great song. I'll have to work on it.
Nicely done. Only suggestion is that you be a little more free with the timing. Try reading the lyric as if you were narrating a story, and see how the words feel that way.
Fine voice, by the way.

Sorry to report but the God Father of Irish music Tommy Makem has passed away
Am/G/C/Am/G/C/Am/C/G/C/Am/G/C/Am, repeat for all verses. I found it on the Internet, so someone else may have better chords.
o,donnel_: o, conner
you are such a good singer. I hate sinéad o,donnels video it's to scary😐😐😐
Good voice and guitar, the rendition sounds a bit too sad, though. Put a bit more strength into it!
Emotional and political songs will innevitably draw emotional and political comments!.
Tiocfaidh Ar La
well written?? this is a traditional Irish song and was not written by a young guy, with angst, from America. Get Real. Geez.
Fantastic!
