Right on. I know it's not all that popular, so I appreciate whenever jazz comes up on SoT. The acoustic / bop stuff from Coltrane, Monk, Rollins, Blakey is at least as invigorating to me as lots of rock. Saw some great CDs such as Horace Silver's Song for my Father, Eric Dolphy's Out to Lunch, Charles Mingus' Ah Um.
"Jazz is not dead, ...It just smells Funny" --Frank Zappa. A very impressive collection sir. P.S. My brother John, plays drums on several of Larry Carlton's albums, along with other artists.
I became a huge fusion freak off the back of one album and one album only.'Birds of Fire' and then,of course,'Where Have I Known You Before?',was second.
Nice, Pete. Great collection. One thing that`s needed to be said. I love the appreciation of CD's. I love both CD´s and LP´s, so it´s all about the music when it comes down to it. Thanks.
I’m sure you knew them well Pete, but Charles Mingus - Pithecanthropus erectus, and Blues & Roots, and The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady are some of my fav jazz albums of all time. Loving all these collection videos. So damn good.
Love that Don Ellis Soaring Album. Ellis imo is the most underrated jazz big band leader of all time. Electric Bath is probably my favorite big band jazz album of all time. He is definitely worth a deep dive Pete, if you haven't already.
Every time I hear the name Alphonse Mouzon I always think back to the stories of John Bonham providing an early morning wake up call to the guests of U.S. hotels as he played along to his records in the middle of the night. Unsociable yet unforgettable.
I see you have a few Tom Scott CDs 💿 I have a Tom Scott CD which is a must for your CD jazz fusion collection titled The Honeysuckle breeze (with the California dreamers)just for a suggestion.
Pete, have you ever checked out any of the Windham Hill stuff from the late 80s thru mid 80s? Michael Hedges, Alex Degrassi, William Ackerman, George Winston, etc…. Would love to hear what you think of it.
Great stuff, Pete. Would love to see you do a video ranking albums from a couple of the fusion bands you have a lot of, especially Return to Forever. Kinda surprised you don't seem to have much Mingus or Bird.
The PLAYERS album! Weren't you looking for that in an earlier video? Isotope & Nucleus are bad asses! I wish I had those Shawn Lane albums...held them back in the day, didn't pull the trigger! You need more Steve Khan/Eyewitness! There's 3-albums on 2 cds sets out there...cheap.
@@georgelamie7001 That's one of those albums that can get "lost" in the shuffle. I have the LP stashed at mom's. IIRC, it's under "P" in my Elec Jazz section. 😊

Not that you need any more jazz albums - you appear pretty set in your tastes - but I'm surprised by the lack of Mingus outside of "Mingus Ah Um." If you like "Out To Lunch" so much, might I recommend any/all of Charles Mingus' live recordings with Eric Dolphy from his April 1964 band. One of the most accessible is "Town Hall Concert" (not to be confused with his "Town Hall" disaster from 1962) or "At Cornell" or pretty much every other show he did in Europe with that band. Also, if you're interested in getting the more accessible side of John Coltrane's later period, might I suggest "First Mediations" and "Sun Ship." They're two of my absolute favorites of his.
excellent series. always looking for new music to me to check out. , Do you have a list of everything you own? I know I don't have but probably 2000 CD and I know I need to make a list so I don't buy doubles. lol
Grant Green, not Gary Green. It was Wes Montgomery that led me to him. It would take a lot of time, but Discogs is a great way to catalogue your music. I don't see anywhere that you mentioned how many CDs you have.
🌠Apostle Peter ! WOW ..JUST WOW !!! as Darth Vader says..Impressive..Most impressive ! if u uploaded this onto iPods..which I'm sure u have..its gotta be over 30,000 songs...u could play your iPod for a year without ever rePETE ing a SONG !!!!
Nice collection although probably a bit overwhelming for my taste. In my older years I'm trying to get rid of stuff not accumulate (which is a job in itself and difficult to do)..
SOOOOOO much great music there Pete!!! Pete, those black snap toegther cd cases you have-how do those hold up? i've had some of those in my Amazon cart forever and just haven't pulled the trigger yet, they look like they would be fairly sturdy for what they are? always enjoy seeing the collection brother-the curse real... \m/ \m/
Time to build a new house just for the cds. Wow. Impressive collection.
Amazing jazz and fusion collection!!!

If OUT TO LUNCH is your thing...Andrew Hill POINT OF DEPARTURE is a must! Similar personnel, same time frame...Modern Jazz classic.
❤️ awesome Pete! I’m going to make some purchases based on this episode 😂
"Some" purchases. 😂
Very impressive Jazz Collection!
Pete. What an amazing collection. I loved it 👍💯
yeah right ! I agree with the principal 🍏🍎
Jazz "in the closet"...that's just perfect. :-)
Great stuff you have! Nice Chroma album. That Peter Brotzmann album will cause your ears to bleed.
Great collection you got. Love and respect!
Interesting collection Pete! I saw the Winery Dogs Saturday night they rocked the houses, I also saw Sidney Taylor too!
Sidney Taylor loves Rush ! ha ha joking
"Jazz is not dead, ...It just smells Funny" --Frank Zappa. A very impressive collection sir. P.S. My brother John, plays drums on several of Larry Carlton's albums, along with other artists.
Thank you, Pete for showing your cool, hot, spot-on collection.
All the damn time.

Life is better with music.
I became a huge fusion freak off the back of one album and one album only.'Birds of Fire' and then,of course,'Where Have I Known You Before?',was second.
Cause of this 8 tour, i have bought Art Blakey’s 5cd set and others..€€€ but thanks..
I like these episodes. I been wanting to see the whole collection that Pete has since I been watching the channel. That stuff and great collection.
Nice, Pete. Great collection. One thing that`s needed to be said. I love the appreciation of CD's. I love both CD´s and LP´s, so it´s all about the music when it comes down to it. Thanks.
It's like looking through a Time Window at my old (vinyl first) collection - glad you have Caldera!
Wait! Pete you have Peter Brotzmann in your collection. I'm impressed ... and a little disturbed 😊
Thanks for making all these! For years I have been wondering what’s on the shelves behind you when I get bored of looking at your face😅 now I know.
I’m sure you knew them well Pete, but Charles Mingus - Pithecanthropus erectus, and Blues & Roots, and The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady are some of my fav jazz albums of all time.
Loving all these collection videos. So damn good.
Good stuff! Lots o' boxes!
I started liking and buying Rypdal in the 90’s. Recently got his latest, 2020’s Conspiracy.
Awesome collection! Pete, check out JJ Johnson! Gotta show the trombone some love. Loved the vid.
Love that Don Ellis Soaring Album. Ellis imo is the most underrated jazz big band leader of all time. Electric Bath is probably my favorite big band jazz album of all time. He is definitely worth a deep dive Pete, if you haven't already.
No LABORATORIUM?
Myself I have 8 of 10 albums.
Great fusion!
Nice collection.😄👍
Great quality. Nice video pete
Peter Pardo you have a good taste of music!!!
Every time I hear the name Alphonse Mouzon I always think back to the stories of John Bonham providing an early morning wake up call to the guests of U.S. hotels as he played along to his records in the middle of the night. Unsociable yet unforgettable.
Brian Auger's Oblovion Express, they where great. I should we'll be a ranking of their albums.
I see you have a few Tom Scott CDs 💿 I have a Tom Scott CD which is a must for your CD jazz fusion collection titled The Honeysuckle breeze (with the California dreamers)just for a suggestion.
Incredible unique collection !!!!!
Was surprised to see Peter Brötzmann in there, when are we going to see a Ranking the Albums of his discography? 😆
Thanks, Pete!
Nice assortment Pete!
Pete, have you ever checked out any of the Windham Hill stuff from the late 80s thru mid 80s? Michael Hedges, Alex Degrassi, William Ackerman, George Winston, etc…. Would love to hear what you think of it.
I mean late 70s thru mid 80s
George Winston's performance of The Country soundtrack is haunting. An amazing composition.
@@F.O.H. he should get The Dave Clark 5 there great
Great stuff, Pete. Would love to see you do a video ranking albums from a couple of the fusion bands you have a lot of, especially Return to Forever. Kinda surprised you don't seem to have much Mingus or Bird.
I’ve ranked the albums of RTF, and many other fusion bands, already.
@@sotdude7 Great! Wasn't aware of that. Kinda new to your channel -- thanks for the heads up!
Great collection, Pete!
Will you rank the Brian Auger and Passport discography?

where's your 'ironing board of metal'? When will will see that?
No idea what an 'ironing board of metal' is....
So what would be your top ten albums for a jazz newbie?🤔 Just jazz no fusion. 🎷🎺🎹😎
Watch the jazz primer episode we did here a few years ago.

Both good, especially Special EFX
Great Collection. Question, are you using a computer app to keep track of your collection and if so what is it? Thanks.
