    Sick. Nice job with these videos dude. I built up a Nomad last season and just started building up a 5010 this week. Stoked to see this video pop up. Keep it up! Oh here’s an idea - compare general Bham area trails with Denver’s?

    Love your reviews. You're got the skills to really push these bikes and you're very detailed in your reviews. I like the inclusion of the livability and maintenance of these bikes. You also articulate well how each bike rides. My only critique is the pesky wind noise on some your riding footage. Otherwise, keep up the great work!

      Thank you, I'm still working on that. I've tried a few different things, but sometimes it comes out worse and I give up for a bit.

    Excellent video, I've always been a "Nomad guy" bit recently built a new 5010 for Arizona trails and it's pretty damn good for my terrain.

    I have a nomad v6 sice a couple of weeks. Had a Hightower v3 the Season before. And it feels fairly similar in pedal efficiency. But the nomad is so much more fun. Corners so much better. And jumps like a dream. Very happy I went with the nomad and not the new bronson. Most fun bike I pedaled to date.

    • @NICADV
      @NICADV  2 дня назад +1

      I agree, I think the Hightower 3 is a fine bike but the Nomad crushes it for jumps and corners.

    Thank you! This is so helpful. It’s so difficult to find a good comparison of these 3 bikes. I’m currently riding a Hightower 2 with a cascade mullet link and have been wanting to upgrade to a true MX frame , just not sure which I want. This helps a lot

    Hi Nic for someone who wants to get comfortable with the steeps - like EBAD or Atlas, which would you pick between the Nomad vs Bronson ?

    • @skinnybricks
      @skinnybricks 7 дней назад

      Bronson will handle both those just fine. I had a V4. Just got a Patrol.

    • @skinnybricks
      @skinnybricks 7 дней назад

      I should mention that even the v4 Bronson felt fine to me on Predator but it’s definitely unstable imo. I think I’d take the Patrol or Nomad over the Bronson if you’re riding gnarly stuff and want to just plow. The patrol feels nimble still even though it’s slightly bigger and slacker than the V4 Bronson.

    • @NICADV
      @NICADV  7 дней назад

      I think the new Bronson would probably be the ticket. The new suspension does such a good job of staying composed. For some of the bigger rock features like in the review I do still prefer the Nomad.

    Another good review, thanks. SC really needs to marry the 5010 and TB with a flip chip. Anyone else had creaking from the drop in headset? My last SC did and I was using a CK headset

    • @NICADV
      @NICADV  7 дней назад

      @@mkrj2576 two things there, and I think I went over them in the Bronson review, but I agree the drop I. Headsets just need cleaned and regressed too often. I think the CK helps but especially in a dry place like CO and Utah it’s bad. The second thing is the headset spacer can make it worse. If the keys aren’t aligned I’ve cracked them and folded them over themselves. I will often just replace the headset spacers with normal ones.

    If you were looking to have 2 bikes from Santa Cruz with the Nomad being one of those, would you go with a Tallboy, Hightower, or 5010 as the second bike? I'm considering adding a smaller travel bike (leaning towards full 29"), and wondering if the Hightower would be "too close" to the Nomad. For context I live in BC, so similar terrain to PNW/Sea-to-Sky.

    • @NICADV
      @NICADV  7 дней назад +1

      Personally I did exactly that and went with the 5010. I do think the Hightower is too similar, but I haven't ridden it yet. I have it with me right now so I should have a better idea soon.
      I like the Tallboy but between the Tallboy and 5010 thought the Tallboy was too racer/downcountry for my taste.

      I think the Nomad and Patrol are very comparable. However, I felt the Nomad suspension stayed more active under heavy braking and found the BB height on the Patrol to be a little too low.
      I have a comparison of the Bronson and new Sentinel and thought they were both very good options.

    Thanks for a great review and comparison. I have the new Bronson (swapped out rear shock for a coil and forks for a 38mm stanchion). You mention the rattling on the Nomad. How do you find the new Bronson? After fixing noise from the 38mm forks (shipped with broken damper, replaced under warranty after 2 rides) there’s still some noise from (I think) the back end. Maybe just the chain, first time using AXS or any electronic so maybe it’s just that vs mechanical. Only 2 hours of riding since new replacement damper so early days in the problem solving. Cheers and thanks again.

    So the Nomad jumps better and handles chunk and big hits better, and still pedals great? For people who want a bike for a fun step up sesh, a gnarly free ride line, a race bike… this bike looks like a DREAM rig. Hope the don’t ruin it in any direction with the next update. Any other bikes that can check all these boxes? (Emphasis on pedals well, very fun on jumps, handles chunk and steeps) Maybe a modified Sentinel?, not sure if anything does is quite like the Nomad!

    • @NICADV

      I really like the Evil Insurgent, it's even more lively and maneuverable on jumps but takes a step back on high speed and chunk.
      I'm not sure the Sentinel would quite stack up, but it would be close especially as a mullet, increasing the shock stroke, and with a 38.
