Just a quick suggestion. I took sheets of paper but you can use even news paper or old weekly news ads that people get in the mail. And some scotch tape and scissors. And I made templates of my van windows. Then I went to the dollar tree and bought a bunch of those black poster boards. I layed my templates on them and used a box cutter to cut out the poster boards just a tiny bit bigger so that when I put them up into my windows they stayed in place. And from the outside of my van the black poster boards make my windows look tinted. And no one can see in at all.🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
I did that when I went camping in my car when I went on my trip to Big Ben national park. I went to dollar tree and made window covers for all my windows. I have an old SUV and worked like a charm.
I’m happy they removed that for you Now the REAL fun begins I used to sleep in my van but I got an apartment and right now With stuff falling apart and rude and noisy neighbors I’m thinking about going back into the van when my lease expires

So proud of you! , It be so neat to watch the transformation , I do Rv living and I remodeled the inside of the 5th wheel to my style and there was alot of learn as you go and videos I had to watch to learn how to do certain things but it was such an amazing feeling to be able to accomplish it. ZEZE, I'm a new subscriber and found you on NJ outdoor channel, he highlighted you in a video. I was homeless and know the struggles of living in a vehicle. I hope I'm able to help you in a non-monetary way, I'm on disability and just don't have it to give, but my love and advice has to be worth something...lol Just a few thoughts to help, take it or leave it, they may or may not be your way - You can buy thin magnetic rolls that have adhesive on one side. You put that on the back windows and like you sorta had in cavalier, you can make fitted covers for windows, that have opposing magnetic material to hold them in place. You can also put up cheap curtain rods and make or piece together curtains for each back window. Tinting is NOT really the way to go. It costs too much and tinting out to be black, you won't be able to see out. Some form of curtains and/or window covers is best privacy and you're able to enjoy some sun/moon light when you want. If you build a platform bed, like the cavalier, from side to side, at very back of van, you can use the underside of that full area to store a TON of stuff. You open back doors to access the back half of stuff you don't use a million times a day and the underside front half for dry food storage or your choice of stuff you do use regularly. Good place for hiding your toilet and maybe the litterbox. Another addition at some point down the road, you can put a partition at the back of your front seats, that you close off at night or times you want privacy from people seeing in windshield. Can be as simple as two black curtains that go floor to ceiling and close meeting in the middle, or a more complex assembly like folding "doors" like people have on closets that open in middle and fold to sides. I can't totally see how your ceiling is but buying a sheet or two of that pink insulation, they are like 4ftx8ft sheets, and putting on ceiling with a glue, will keep heat in much better than nothing at all. You would be just putting an adhesive on one side of insulation and sticking to ceiling. You don't want air gaps, so any part of your ceiling that is contoured, you would want to cut the insulation so it sits flat on whatever surface you're covering. This also works for a floor, if you plan on putting wood on floor. You just smash the insulation between van floor and the wood, screwing the wood down thru insulation and into the van existing floor. All of these ideas are not perfect for a house but are perfect for van living. Anything I can do to help, just ask. I'm on Insta too, shoot me a message if you need to bounce ideas off me.

Get yourself an angle grinder for cheap at Harbor Freight Tools, a jigsaw, and a Circle saw. Buy blades and keep extras on hand. Ryobi has cool tool kits and you can add tools to it 18V. You can even buy one tool at a time. Just make sure you can interchange the batteries. It's good to have your own tools because things will break along the way and must be repaired. If you want you can black out your windows with acrylic paint. It's cheaper than tinting your windows, and you don't have to keep putting up window covers. Leave a few unpainted so you can have views. Then you only have a few to be covered. You'll need at least 16 cans if you choose to spray it or more. Double-coat each window, to keep light in and peeping eyes out!. Or get a gallon of paint and use a sponge brush to paint them it's simple and easy.

As far as those window tints go, almost all of them (that are legal) you can peek through if you get that close, I would recommend additional blinds or curtains of some sort, maybe even block off one or two of them for a private area, it also helps to have low light inside. Personally I would block off the rear 2 windows and have the sleeping arrangement there. Anyways, glad to see you doing well and with a smile on your face, stay beautiful 🖤🖤
I just wanted to say, I really admire what you're doing. If it helps, I wanted to suggest that you definitely take care of any rest you find before you cover it up, because you don't want it corrode and eat away your can in the long term. A rust converter spray would work well or you could buff it out. Definitely check the bottom of the van too to see if the frame has any rust so you aren't worried about it falling apart. I know you said that you didn't want to mess with the battery, definitely make sure you are taking good care of the engine and the battery so it lasts you a long time. Even little things like getting anti-corrosion washers for your car battery for a dollar can keep your battery from going bad much longer and keep it from leaking. Just a lot of little things you can do that you don't want to forget about doing to keep the engine happy. I hope everything goes great for you and I look forward to hearing more 😊

You go girl !! I wish I had money to help you. I am homeless myself and we lived in a small 4 door car. It was me and my husband and our dog. We lost our home to a fire. We didn't have insurance. We lived in the car for over 10 months and it was horrible. I had a bowel blockage from my fear of pooping in public bathrooms. Now my husband got a good job. He is a electrician. We just recently moved into a hotel with a small kitchen in it but we pay almost a $ 1,000 a week and once we pay that and the food for the dog our cells we hardly have gas money or food for ourselves. My husband wants to buy a camper the class c the one you drive and not a pull behind. Our credit isn't the greatest but his job is good pay and he has been working there almost a year. I don't work I have alot of health issues right now. I am very anemic and need a blood transfusion and with my vitamin deficiency my teeth have been breaking and then falling out so I am not even 46 and my teeth look like I do bad drugs. I need to get a bridge or dental implants. I am so glad I subscribed to you because I love seeing your progress and I am from R.I. and I think you said in another vlog you live in New Jersey? I had to get extensive dental work and signed up for the care credit card. It’s two years interest free. My income is tiny so I was surprised I got approved. It’s worth looking into. If you get approved you can even use it for veterinary bills.
Instead of tinting your side and/or back windows, you may want to consider installing car sun shade curtains. These would not only effectively block the sun when desired, but would also provide the necessary privacy as needed. Installing a set of front and rear partition curtains (extending from one wall of the van to the other) could be yet another privacy consideration. Budget-wise these installs may also be less expensive than having the windows tinted ..

Excited to see where you go with this 😊 are you going to put a wood base floor like plywood, then put the flooring on to that? It would be far easier for you and would work better. I had to get extensive dental work and signed up for the care credit card. It’s two years interest free. My income is tiny so I was surprised I got approved. It’s worth looking into. If you get approved you can even use it for veterinary bills.

Instead of tinting your side and/or back windows, you may want to consider installing car sun shade curtains. These would not only effectively block the sun when desired, but would also provide the necessary privacy as needed. Installing a set of front and rear partition curtains (extending from one wall of the van to the other) could be yet another privacy consideration. Budget-wise these installs may also be less expensive than having the windows tinted ..

Excited to see where you go with this 😊 are you going to put a wood base floor like plywood, then put the flooring on to that? It would be far easier for you and would work better. Maybe a Lowes person could make a pattern for your floor, and cut your boards to fit exact. Sure wish i was there, id definitely be helping you get your home all fixed up and get you road ready 😎
